Editor: Henyee Translations This news utterly shocked Victor Morgan; he wondered, could someone really have used such a method to trick her into going there?

Besides, the fact that he’d arranged for Chloe Warner to be at The Morgan Group’s kindergarten—nobody else should have known about it.

Victor immediately called Vera Warner, but she downright ignored him—still furious, she definitely didn’t want to deal with this man.

“Get over there right now!”

No one knew what was up with President Morgan today, but neither of them dared to ask—just strictly followed his orders to avoid making a mistake.

Victor couldn’t explain the sudden, inexplicable panic in his chest.

Even though he claimed to hate this woman, he couldn’t bear to see her get hurt.

Vera Warner hurried to the place as fast as she could.

When she saw it was just a shopping mall about to open, she also thought it was odd.

Just as she was still questioning it, her phone rang again.

“Miss Warner, your child is inside the mall.

Please come pick her up quickly.”

Vera objected: “Why would your school choose a place like this?”

She was anxious, but not stupid enough to believe everything they said.

Now that things didn’t add up, she naturally kept her guard up.

But before she could finish, a child’s cries echoed from inside the mall—and she heard Chloe Warner’s voice over the phone, confirming her daughter was in there.

Vera gritted her teeth.

“You’re truly vicious!” she spat, hanging up and running inside.

She’d noticed unread messages, but when she saw they were from Victor Morgan, she didn’t even bother opening them.

In her flustered rush, Vera raced into the mall, completely unaware someone was locking the door behind her.

The whole shopping mall was empty, not a single soul, but the cry of a child echoed clearly.

“Luke, where are you?

If you hear Mommy’s voice, answer me, quick!”

The huge mall echoed with only her own voice.

And since it wasn’t open yet, none of the elevators were in use; just as she was getting more anxious, she heard a sound on the third floor.

“Luke, is that you?

What’s going on here—are you people from the school, or are you kidnappers?”

Vera was angry, but all she could think of was finding her daughter first.

She dashed up to the third floor and saw, curled up and crying in a corner ahead, a child with the same build as Luke.

She cautiously approached, her heart pounding, and called softly, “Luke, is that you?

Don’t be afraid, Mommy’s here!”

But as Vera squatted down, pained and tender, a hidden figure behind her suddenly swung a wooden stick and struck her on the neck.

Caught completely off guard, Vera had no time to react and was knocked out cold.

The crying child wasn’t Luke after all—it was a kid Luna Warner had arranged to be there.

From the corner, Luna Warner swaggered out with a sneer.

“Still as stupid as five years ago—such a simple trick and you fell for it.”

The guy with the stick hurried up to claim credit—Henry Stone, forever Luna’s pathetic lackey.

He grinned and said, “Luna, I’ve knocked her out.

What do you want me to do next?”

Luna stared at the third-floor railing, eyes full of cunning malice.

“Brother Hugh, you’re wonderful.

Help me get rid of this annoying woman—just push her over the railing.

I want her dead.”

Just thinking about that woman always getting close to Victor Morgan, and being so intimate with Zola Morgan—

If she let them carry on, she’d lose every bit of status she had left.

And she had to bury the secret from five years ago, once and for all.

If it ever came out, she’d be finished for sure.

Henry Stone was already infatuated with Luna Warner.

He did whatever she asked—no questions.

He hoisted Vera Warner up and dragged her toward the railing.

Luna just watched coldly.

Since she hadn’t burned Vera alive back then, she’d make sure to watch as she died now.

Just as Henry Stone hefted Vera over the railing, Victor Morgan arrived on the first floor.

Since there was nobody else around, he glanced up and immediately spotted two people at the third-floor railing.

What horrified him even more was seeing a strange man pushing the unconscious Vera Warner toward the edge.

“Hey!

Who the hell are you?

Stop right now!”

Victor’s shout echoed through the empty space, so loud it startled Luna Warner, making her tremble in fear on the third floor.

“Shit…

Why is Victor Morgan here?

Henry Stone, hurry up and push her off, then run to distract them—lead them away!”

Even now, Luna wouldn’t give up the chance to get rid of Vera—after all, this was a rare opportunity.

If she didn’t do it now, she’d have to scheme even harder in the future.

Besides, Henry Stone was so obedient, she’d just have him do it and take the fall—no problem at all.

Henry was panicked and anxious, but to make Luna happy, he gritted his teeth, grabbed Vera by the legs, flipped her over, and tossed her down.

Victor had already sent Special Assistant York and the driver upstairs to catch them; now he was the only one left below.

As Vera fell, Victor lunged without hesitation, managing to catch her squarely.

The impact jarred his arm, but even then he never let go of her.

Victor landed with her, reaching out to touch—her neck was bleeding.

Fighting the pain, he picked her up and carried her out, but his arm was rapidly losing sensation.

He yelled, “All of you, get back here!

Forget the chase—we need to save her first!”

Because of the massive impact, Victor’s arm was now fractured.

The fact that he could still carry Vera was sheer force of will.

Special Assistant York and the driver quickly rushed back, not daring to waste a second.

Forrest Morgan immediately had the driver rush both of them to the hospital.

After x-rays, it was clear: Forrest Morgan had fractured both arms, and his chest was nearly smashed in—his condition was grave.

One can only imagine how dire things were at the time.

And he’d risked everything to save her.

When Victor got to the mall, Vera’s car was parked outside, but the entrance was locked.

At first, he thought she couldn’t possibly be inside, but something kept nagging at him.

He finally had someone pry the lock open with a wrench from the car, and the three of them went in to search.

If they hadn’t made it inside in time, who knows what kind of horror would have happened?

Thinking back on it all, Victor was still shaken.

Just what kind of enemies had this woman made, for someone to want her dead?

In the afternoon, Vera finally woke from her pain.

She opened her eyes weakly and realized she was in a hospital.

Trying to sit up, she was overwhelmed by pain and forced to lie back down.
