The group ate and chatted in high spirits.

Throughout the meal, Aiden Shaw was constantly putting food on Laura Lowell’s plate, even taking the time to debone the fish before placing it on her dish.

“Dr.

Shaw, I’d like to stay at my own place tonight.”

The wound on Laura Lowell’s arm was almost healed, and her fever was gone.

Besides, the doctor had already told her she could be discharged the next morning.

Aiden Shaw’s long, slender fingers gripped the steering wheel, his other hand resting casually on the open car window.

“Alright, let’s go home together.”

‘That sounds a little…

intimate.’

‘We should be going to our respective homes.’

The car pulled to a stop in front of her apartment building.

The moment Laura Lowell got out, she saw Leo Lowell.

“Brother, what are you doing here?”

“I just got back from a business trip.

I thought I’d swing by to see you, and I brought your favorite—crawfish.”

Leo Lowell slipped one hand into his suit pocket while holding a takeout container of crawfish in the other.

When his gaze landed on Aiden Shaw, a dark, turbulent undercurrent surged in his eyes.

Aiden Shaw didn’t say anything, merely offering a polite nod.

Once they were in the elevator, Aiden Shaw, tall and elegant, stood to Laura Lowell’s right.

He leaned in slightly, his sexy voice mingling with warm breath as he spoke.

“You like crawfish?”

At his sudden proximity, Laura Lowell froze, her entire body going rigid.

She nervously pursed her lips, then nodded.

The man let out a low chuckle, instinctively reaching up to tousle her hair.

“I’ll make some for you another day.”

His voice was gentle, like a spring breeze whispering past her ear.

Leo Lowell, who had been standing by silently the whole time, wore a thunderous expression, as if a storm was about to break.

His dark eyes seemed to be engulfed by the night itself.

The elevator doors opened, and the three of them filed out.

After saying goodbye to Aiden Shaw, Laura Lowell went into her apartment.

“You’re moving back home.

Immediately.”

Leo Lowell’s angry voice rang out the moment the door closed.

Laura Lowell finished changing her shoes and looked at him with a grave expression. Find the original chapter at g.com.

“Brother, I’m perfectly fine living here.

I don’t want to go home.”

“Is it because of that man?

Or are you just trying to avoid me?”

“You’re the brother I grew up with.

Even though we’re not blood-related, nothing can ever happen between us.”

After shouting this angrily, Laura Lowell snatched the container of crawfish from his hand and stormed off toward the dining room.

“You’d better not fall in love with any other man.”

“The heart is the one thing no one can control.

I can’t make any promises when it comes to that.”

Sitting across the dining table from her, Leo Lowell’s expression was absolutely foul.

Yet he had no choice but to endure it; he couldn’t bring himself to actually yell at her.

“Are you dating that guy?”

Leo Lowell had just gotten back from his business trip and had already heard about what happened with her.

The company had even made an official announcement.

“Mm, I guess so.”

Laura Lowell kept her head down, focusing on her crawfish, and answered nonchalantly.

“You like him?”

“I don’t dislike him.”

“How did you meet?”

“We met when I was drunk.”

Suddenly, Leo Lowell’s expression darkened.

He knew all too well about her bad habits when she was drunk.

“Did you sleep with him?”

Behind Leo Lowell’s flat tone, however, was a hidden trepidation and anxiety.

“We hugged and kissed, but we didn’t sleep together.”

And so it went, a back-and-forth of questions and answers, with both of them hiding what was truly on their minds.
