Volume 1 Chapter 6: Of Course, It’s to Deliver a Love Lunchbox for My Husband

Song Jingmian had been busy in the kitchen for quite some time and finally finished preparing the meal.

Having grown up in an orphanage and moved out to live independently as an adult, cooking was no challenge for her.Full novel: Possessed Kiss! Clinging Hug! Husband Kisses, Hugs, and Lifts Me High! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After finishing lunch, she realized she still had some time left, so she specially learned to make a small dessert.

She hadn’t tried this much before, but she could learn.

Looking at the delicate little dessert in front of her, Song Jingmian smiled contentedly.

After packing everything up, she went upstairs to change clothes and freshen up before heading out.

This was her first time going to his company to see him.

Aunt Liu said he was often too busy to eat, so she decided to deliver the meal herself.

Based on her understanding of him from her past life, he had always been a workaholic and a perfectionist—he wouldn’t rest until a task was done perfectly.

So by the time he got around to eating, who knew how late it would be.

For the sake of his health, she decided to bring him meals whenever she had the chance.

After rummaging through her closet for a long time, she finally found a bright and suitable dress.

It was a strapless style, pale pink with cherry blossoms embroidered on it, and it fell just above the knee. Considering the weather outside—neither too hot nor too cold—she added a light jacket over it.

While choosing earrings, she remembered the gift Bo Jingci had given her on their wedding night, which she hadn’t examined closely.

She walked to the dressing room, took out the pearl earrings she had casually placed there, and put them on.

She had to admit, his taste was quite good.

Once she was dressed, she put on a mask and a hat before heading out.

After all, she was part of the entertainment industry. At sixteen, she had played the supporting female role in a movie that unexpectedly became a hit, leading to numerous script offers.

But whenever she discussed collaborations, those in charge would subtly hint at the so-called “rules” of the industry. She despised such hypocritical behavior and loathed these hidden rules.

Once, at a banquet, a producer with strong connections tried to get handsy with her. When she resisted fiercely, he took advantage of the moment to reach for her thigh.

Before she knew it, a wine bottle had already smashed into the producer.

He didn’t die, but from then on, she was blacklisted.

…

After packing everything and preparing to leave, Aunt Liu was stunned when she saw the mistress’s outfit downstairs.

“Madam, you…”

Song Jingmian gestured to the things in her hand.

“I’m going to deliver lunch to Bo Jingci.”

Aunt Liu was shocked once again: “Ah…”

“Madam, you’ve finally come around.”

Having been in the villa for so long, she had witnessed every move of the couple. In the past, the mistress had been so cold and never cared about the young master. Seeing her like this now truly warmed Aunt Liu’s heart.

Both of them were stunningly good-looking—they should have a proper romance.

Ahhh, Aunt Liu screamed internally. The mistress looked so beautiful today; she was sure to captivate the young master at the company. Then, one thing would lead to another, and before long, the villa would welcome a little young master or princess.

How lively and wonderful that would be.

Thinking of this, Aunt Liu couldn’t help but chuckle.

Song Jingmian gave Aunt Liu a strange look. “Aunt Liu… are you… okay?”

“Ah… I’m fine, Madam. I’m just too happy.”

Aunt Liu grinned.

Then, she immediately urged her, “Madam, you should hurry. Don’t keep the young master waiting.”

With that, she headed to the kitchen to busy herself. While working, she didn’t forget to turn on her phone and continue listening to the novel she’d been following recently, The Cold-Faced CEO Dotes on His Little Wife, happily multitasking.

Song Jingmian had just stepped out of the villa’s front gate when she realized something and immediately stopped.

“Come out.”

Seeing no movement, she curled her lips slightly and added, “I know you’ve been following me, but come out first.”

With that, two young men emerged from around the corner.

“Madam,” they said respectfully.

“Mm,” Song Jingmian responded lightly. “Go back. Don’t follow me.”

The two young men exchanged glances, then looked at her in unison, their expressions serious. “No!”

Song Jingmian was speechless.

One of them spoke up, “Madam, we’re just following behind to protect you. We won’t get in your way.”

She sighed helplessly. “I’m bringing my husband a homemade lunch. What are you two tagging along for?”

“Besides, I’m a grown adult—it’s not like I’ll get lost.”

“Also, don’t tell Bo Jingci yet. I want to surprise him.”

The two stared at each other, wide-eyed. In all the time they’d been here, this was the first time they’d seen Madam say so much or show so much expression. Usually, she was cold and distant.

“Go back,” she said, her tone now carrying a hint of impatience. “If your young master goes hungry, can you afford to take the blame?”

At her words, the two young men finally shuffled away.

Song Jingmian breathed a sigh of relief.

Having people follow her was just too unpleasant.

The taxi ride would take half an hour. Song Jingmian glanced at her wristwatch, then at the long line of cars ahead, and fell into thought.

First day trying to bring warmth to her husband, and she was stuck in traffic.

“Driver, how long will this take?”

The driver, noticing the pretty young woman seemed a bit anxious, replied helplessly, “Probably about half an hour.”

“What’s wrong, miss?”

Song Jingmian frowned. Half an hour was too long.

By the time she got there, the food would be cold.

Then, she took action.

“Driver, here’s the fare. Keep the change.”

She handed him a few red bills and immediately opened the car door to get out.

The driver clutched the bills in his hand, grinning from ear to ear.

“That girl… she’s really something.”

There were only three kilometers left anyway. She could run the rest of the way.

At that moment, she was immensely grateful she hadn’t worn high heels today.

Otherwise, she’d have to take them off and sprint barefoot, and tomorrow’s social news would probably feature her.

She didn’t want to become famous that way.

While running, she wasn’t paying attention, and at a corner, several children on bicycles suddenly rushed out. They weren’t looking ahead but were turned around chatting with those behind them, so by the time Song Jingmian reacted, the bike had already crashed into her.

Instantly, her only thought was: Don’t let the food in the thermal lunchbox spill!

As she fell, she quickly steadied the lunchbox with both hands.

“Ouch.”

Song Jingmian gasped in pain.

“Sister, are you okay?!”

The children gathered around her, carefully examining her injury. Luckily, it was just a scrape on her knee.

It didn’t hurt much.

When Song Jingmian got up, she looked at them seriously and advised, “Be careful when riding your bikes from now on. Watch the road.”

The child clearly realized their mistake and quickly nodded, “I understand, sister, I’m sorry!”

The child smiled sweetly, and even Song Jingmian, who was usually well-behaved, couldn’t stay angry.

“Sister, you dropped something!”

Only then did Song Jingmian notice that the lunchbox in her hand hadn’t fallen, but the bag of cookies she was holding had scattered all over the ground.

Song Jingmian: “…”

Thanks a lot.
