At the foot of Qingyun Mountain!

“The terrain here is treacherous and complicated. Zhan the Madman chose this place for the deal, so seizing the goods will be very difficult. Pass down the orders—have everyone follow my newly planned routes, and they must stay fully alert. We’re determined to get this shipment!” Fu Jingxiao instructed coldly.

“Rest assured, Fu. That punk Zhan Yi has stolen your shipments so many times that the brothers have long hated him to the bone. This time is a battle to wipe away our past humiliation—they definitely won’t let you down. I’ll go have them set up the ambush along your new routes right now.” With that, Xiao Kai left with the blueprints.

After Xiao Kai left, Fu Jingxiao continued observing. Suddenly, a dark green figure appeared in his line of sight.

The person was carrying a green bamboo basket on their back and wearing a green hat, blending completely into the forest. If the figure hadn’t been moving slightly, he wouldn’t have been able to tell it was a person at all.

Could it be an ambush planted by the other side?

Fu Jingxiao carefully walked quickly toward the figure. When he was only a few meters away, he saw that it was a woman with long flowing hair, head down, using a small shovel to dig up spring bamboo shoots from the ground.

When the woman looked up and he saw her face, Fu Jingxiao froze on the spot.

Luo Xingchen!

The woman digging bamboo shoots was actually Luo Xingchen.

“Why are you here?” Fu Jingxiao stared at Luo Xingchen, questioning her in an icy voice.

Seeing that face of Fu Jingxiao’s—handsome as a banished immortal, yet covered in frost, the kind of face that made people want to beat him up—Luo Xingchen was utterly speechless inside.

She had only come up the mountain to visit her master and dig up some wild vegetables along the way. How did she run into this cheating scumbag of a “husband”?

Talk about bad luck!

Luo Xingchen shook the bamboo shoot in her hand and said with a look that treated him like an idiot, “Can’t you see I’m digging wild vegetables?”

As she spoke, without even turning her head, she flicked her hand backward, and the bamboo shoot flew straight into the basket on her back. The movement was graceful and effortless, as natural as flowing water.

One look and you could tell she was a seasoned veteran at digging wild vegetables.

“You’re a rich woman holding three billion in your hands now—do you really need to come up the mountain to dig wild vegetables yourself? You just won the championship. Shouldn’t you be celebrating with the other athletes at a fancy hotel?”

Was she digging bamboo shoots to feed that good-looking transvestite?

“Celebrating with others isn’t nearly as fun as celebrating with my boyfriend. My boyfriend loves eating spring bamboo shoots and wild vegetables from the mountains. I’ll dig some wild delicacies and cook them for him at home—that makes the celebration much more meaningful.” Luo Xingchen deliberately put on a face full of happiness as she said this, then lowered her head and continued digging bamboo shoots.

So it really was for that good-looking transvestite!

Thinking of how he had eaten her cooking for two years, and that from today on, she would be cooking for that transvestite, and after eating, the two of them would do those intimate things—

At the thought, last night’s scenes of him and Luo Xingchen together couldn’t help but surface in Fu Jingxiao’s mind.

The more he thought, the more he imagined, and Fu Jingxiao’s hands involuntarily clenched into fists.

He wished he could go beat that transvestite to a pulp right this instant.

Fu Jingxiao looked around but didn’t see the transvestite anywhere.

“You came up the mountain alone? That transvestite didn’t come along to keep you company?”

“Digging wild vegetables is such hard work—how could I possibly tell my darling about it? I snuck up the mountain to dig vegetables secretly, all so I could give him a surprise tonight.” As she spoke, Luo Xingchen tossed another fresh, tender bamboo shoot into her basket and headed further up the mountain.

“There’s shepherd’s purse here! My darling loves cold-dressed shepherd’s purse the most—just add some scallions, ginger, and garlic, chili oil, and sesame oil, mix it all together, and it’s simply the finest delicacy in the world!” Luo Xingchen said happily as she crouched down and started digging up the wild vegetables.

Hearing Luo Xingchen’s description, Fu Jingxiao found it delicious just imagining it, and he involuntarily swallowed.

Luo Xingchen’s cooking was delicious, especially her vegetable dishes. After eating her cooking, anything from outside tasted like chewing chaff.

“Do you know who you look like right now? A famous historical figure.”

“Which famous historical figure?” Luo Xingchen asked curiously, looking up at Fu Jingxiao.

“You look exactly like Wang Baochuan digging wild vegetables!” Fu Jingxiao said, enunciating every word.

The image of Wang Baochuan from film and television dramas surfaced in Luo Xingchen’s mind—dressed in ragged clothes, hair disheveled, miserably and pitifully digging for wild vegetables.

This man’s mouth was truly vicious.

“If I want to be Wang Baochuan, I’m happy, I’m willing, and it’s none of your business. Go find somewhere cool to stay and stop holding up my vegetable digging.”

Luo Xingchen’s words left Fu Jingxiao feeling deeply bitter.

They had been married for two years, and she had never once dug wild vegetables for him!

Yet now, the moment they divorced, she went up the mountain to dig wild vegetables for that freak—and she even clearly remembered what flavors that freak liked.

At this thought, Fu Jingxiao’s cold eyes instantly filled with rage, and he strode quickly toward Luo Xingchen.

Luo Xingchen, who was busy digging vegetables, suddenly felt her back basket yanked hard, pulling her up along with it. Before she could react, the next second, her chin was seized forcefully.

“You know what flavors that freak likes to eat. Have you and that freak already been hooking up? Did you cheat on me while we were still married?”

Fu Jingxiao glared at Luo Xingchen with eyes full of fury. Especially looking at the green straw hat on her head, he found it unbearably glaring—he even wanted to strangle her.

Luo Xingchen’s breath was cut off by his grip, and the suffocating feeling was agonizing. But she didn’t want to reveal her strength to Fu Jingxiao in the middle of the mountains. If she couldn’t beat him, and he felt she had deceived him too much, he might fly into a humiliated rage and kill her—the loss would far outweigh the gain.

“Fu Jingxiao, have you got amnesia? Didn’t I tell you this morning that she and I are childhood sweethearts—’lovers’ who grew up together? Isn’t it only natural that I know what she likes to eat?”

“Yes, I was with her before marriage, but during our marriage, I was absolutely faithful to you. I never had any relations with her, nor was I ever flirtatious with anyone else. Let go of me now!” Luo Xingchen explained, her voice pained.

Hearing Luo Xingchen admit she had been with that freak before marriage, an indescribable rage and jealousy surged through Fu Jingxiao’s heart. He yanked Luo Xingchen abruptly toward him and kissed her lips forcefully.

The kiss was domineering and aggressive, laden with intense hatred, wantonly ravaging everything inside Luo Xingchen’s lips.

Caught off guard by Fu Jingxiao’s sudden forceful kiss, Luo Xingchen was so stunned she forgot to react.

Hearing her admit she’d been with someone else, shouldn’t he despise her even more?

How could he think of forcibly kissing her?

Once she came to her senses, Luo Xingchen tried to push away Fu Jingxiao, whose thought process was clearly abnormal. But Fu Jingxiao held her head firmly captive, and no matter how she pushed, she couldn’t break free. When she finally managed to twist her head away with great effort, he swiftly pressed his lips to hers again, clinging like sticky candy.

Before long, Luo Xingchen, leaning against the tree, felt utterly dizzy from his kisses, her body going weak and melting uncontrollably into his embrace.

Being forcibly kissed and having her body react like this made Luo Xingchen both frantic and ashamed. Unable to push Fu Jingxiao away, in her desperation she bit down hard on the man’s lips.

Fu Jingxiao flinched at the pain and released her lips.

“Slap…” Just as Fu Jingxiao straightened up, Luo Xingchen’s palm landed hard across his face.

Fu Jingxiao’s eyes instantly filled with even more furious rage, and he raised his hand to strike Luo Xingchen’s face.

Feeling the fierce force of his palm coming at her, Luo Xingchen quickly shut her eyes, bracing for that terrifying slap.

However, the pain she expected never came. Instead, a cracking sound reached her ears.

Luo Xingchen opened her eyes and saw that Fu Jingxiao’s fist had smashed into the small tree behind her—the sapling, as thick as his wrist, had been broken clean in half at the trunk.

“Get lost. Don’t let me see you again!”

Fu Jingxiao’s dangerously cold voice, devoid of any warmth, frightened Luo Xingchen into scrambling a few steps down the hill. Then she stopped, turned around, and glared at him furiously.

“Fine, I’ll get lost! It’s not like I wanted to see you—you’re the one who came over to see me, and then you molested me! Fu Jingxiao, I’m keeping score of this. Sooner or later, I’ll settle it with you.”

“With what, exactly? You think you’re qualified to settle accounts with me? Oh, right, you still have that freak of a man. I’ll be waiting for you both at Fu Corporation—let’s see how your freak of a man stands up for you.” Contempt filled Fu Jingxiao’s handsome face.

“You’re the freak—your whole family is freaks!” Luo Xingchen said indignantly. But when she saw Fu Jingxiao’s clenched right hand dripping blood onto the ground, her eyes dimmed for a moment.

“Still here? Do you believe I’ll take you right here and now?”

Seeing the frost covering Fu Jingxiao’s entire body as he advanced toward her, dangerous like an asura of the dark night, Luo Xingchen took off running in terror.

As if fearing that one slow step would mean being “executed on the spot” by a certain someone.

Watching Luo Xingchen flee as if she wished the ground would give her wings, Fu Jingxiao’s gaze slowly grew deep and dark.

On the very first day of their divorce, that woman had slapped him twice. Yet no matter how she had deceived him, no matter how heartless she had been, the moment he looked at that face of hers, he couldn’t bring himself to hit her.

Luo Xingchen was like a kite. When he held the string, she was quiet and obedient, never fighting or arguing.

But once he let go of the string, she bared all her claws and fangs, flying farther and farther away, completely beyond his control.

Divorcing her, setting her free—had he done wrong?
