The Manic-Depressive Overbearing CEO (17)
Song Chubai blinked and took a few extra glances at Lu Chenhan. However, it was not stealing a glance, but looking at him quite openly.
He had to admit that Lu Chenhan was extremely handsome, possessing a face that appealed to both men and women. It was just that his temper was rather poor, and he was capricious and mercurial. That was probably the reason why nobody pursued him.
Song Chubai lost himself in thought while looking at Lu Chenhan.
Lu Chenhan took in his reaction, and the smile at the corners of his lips seemed to deepen even further.
His little assistant seemed to be growing increasingly fond of him, which was certainly a good thing.
After all, he also felt that his little assistant was very cute and a joy to have around.
The harmonious yet slightly ambiguous mode of interaction between the two continued for a month, until this day, when Song Chubai received another text message from the contact saved as “1”.
Did you get the things?
Song Chubai was just about to reply with “No” when his phone was suddenly snatched away by Lu Chenhan.
“What are you looking at so intently?” Lu Chenhan played with the phone, casting a casual glance toward the phone screen.
Upon seeing this, his expression froze. The face that had carried a hint of a smile just a moment ago abruptly darkened, and his brows furrowed.
“What things?” He looked at Song Chubai with a hint of interrogation, his gaze sharp and dark. A storm was faintly gathering in the depths of his eyes, and the aura surrounding him turned several degrees colder.
Song Chubai felt a sudden jolt in his heart and quickly explained, “They’re just asking if I’ve received my salary.”
If he remembered correctly, this month’s salary hasn’t been paid yet.
Put that way, Lu Chenhan shouldn’t be too suspicious, right?
Song Chubai reached out, wanting to take back his phone, but he was already a head shorter than Lu Chenhan. Coupled with the fact that Lu Chenhan intentionally held it high to keep it out of reach, he naturally couldn’t get it back.
“President Lu.” Song Chubai pressed his lips together, those originally rosy lips appearing somewhat pale at that moment.
“I will give you one more chance.” Lu Chenhan’s voice dropped extremely low, his tone carrying a trace of anger. “Song Chubai, do you take me for a fool?”
Had he been spoiling him too much? It actually made him blurt out such an obviously fake lie.
When had the salaries at the Lu Corporation ever been paid late?
Moreover, as the president of the Lu Corporation, how could he possibly not know what those so-called things were?
When he previously discovered that Song Chubai might be stealing a USB drive, a hidden concern had been planted in his heart.
It was just that over these past many days, Song Chubai hadn’t done anything suspicious. Furthermore, he genuinely liked him.
In this regard, Lu Chenhan had this level of confidence.
However…
Lu Chenhan’s eyes suddenly darkened as he grabbed Song Chubai’s wrist with a terrifying amount of strength.
“Once you get the things, you’re going to leave?”
Even Lu Chenhan himself hadn’t expected that what he cared about the most was actually this.
Yet, damn it, the fear that he would leave far outweighed his anger over company secrets being stolen.
Song Chubai looked at Lu Chenhan in a daze. After a few seconds, he shook his head, his voice carrying a soft undertone as he said, “I won’t leave.”
He hadn’t even cured his illness or completed his mission yet, so how could he leave?
His eyes, which were gorgeous to the extreme, seemed to be floating with a layer of moisture, and the corners of his eyes were stained with a faint flush of crimson. Despite having the most innocent face, he inadvertently bloomed into the most alluring posture.
He lightly pressed his lips together and continued to explain, “I don’t want to steal the secrets anymore.”
He was telling the truth.
Lu Chenhan remained silent, his dark, ink-black eyes staring intently at him, as if trying to find any trace of lying on his face.
Seeing that he didn’t speak, Song Chubai continued, “When you almost caught me last time, I had already stopped planning to steal them.”
Pausing for a moment, he gave a quick glance, his long eyelashes trembling slightly as he lowered his voice.
“Otherwise, I would have found an opportunity long ago.”
Lu Chenhan curved his lips upward. “Indeed.”
He flipped Song Chubai’s phone face down on the desktop. “If you had wanted to take them, you could have taken them long ago.”
“Huh?” Song Chubai hadn’t expected Lu Chenhan to agree with his words just like that, and a look of surprise inevitably appeared on his small face.
“The files are right there in the desktop folder on your computer.” Saying this, Lu Chenhan even picked up the mouse, clicked lightly on the computer in front of Song Chubai, and opened that folder.
The planning proposal concerning the project bidding document was clearly displayed right in front of Song Chubai.
Song Chubai: (⊙o⊙)
Seeing that Song Chubai’s expression didn’t look fake, the tyrannical desire that had just surged within Lu Chenhan barely subsided by a fraction.
However, it was only a fraction.
The large hand gripping Song Chubai’s wrist still exerted force, as if trying to melt him into his very bones.
Feeling a pang of pain, Song Chubai let out a soft cry.
“It hurts.”
Hearing this, Lu Chenhan slackened his grip slightly, though he still didn’t let go of his hand.
“Why did you decide not to take them?”
Even at a time like this, he was unwilling to use words like “steal” or “plunder” to describe his malicious actions.
He stared closely at him, waiting for his answer.
Under his gaze, Song Chubai’s slightly pale lips parted slightly, and he whispered, “Because I don’t want to anymore.”
Lu Chenhan seemed unsatisfied with this answer and continued to press, “Why don’t you want to anymore?”
Faced with Lu Chenhan’s continued questioning, Song Chubai thought about it with his little head and tentatively said, “Because I like you?”
He remembered saying something like that when he first arrived in this world.
Even though it was just said casually in a moment of impulse.
Sure enough, upon hearing this answer, Lu Chenhan’s face finally held a hint of a smile. It wasn’t the kind of sneer or sarcastic grin, but a satisfied smile stemming from the depths of his heart.
“Good boy.” He raised a hand to stroke Song Chubai’s fluffy hair. Surrounded by the soft texture, he narrowed his eyes, a dark glint flashing through them.
Given how good he was being, he didn’t mind giving him a little sweetness to taste.
He persuaded himself this way, or perhaps it was just finding a smooth reason to make his subsequent actions feel logical.
He leaned forward, placing one hand on the desk while his other hand grabbed Song Chubai’s wrist, abruptly pinning his hand behind his back. At the same time, leaning forward with his body, he unexpectedly yet premeditatedly kissed his lips.
Song Chubai’s pupils shrank sharply, his eyes widening in utter disbelief at what was happening.
An aggressive aura invaded his world, as if wanting to melt him away.
Song Chubai’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and he slowly closed his eyes.
Lu Chenhan kissed him deeper.
It was clearly supposed to be just a light dragonfly-like kiss, but things seemed to have gone a bit awry.
This kiss was sweeter and more intoxicating than he had imagined. Uncontrollably, he fell right into it.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, as if swallowing up all the sweetness he had plundered from Song Chubai.
After the kiss, he slowly released him, his voice holding a low, hoarse tone.
“Very sweet.”
