(Third Person POV)
The Bat Creature pushed itself against the light, its skin burning slightly as it let out another shriek. Samuel took a step to the side as the magic circle's light subsided, the effect running out and allowing the beast to go free.
Samuel held his revolver in his hand, narrowing his eyes as he noticed a strange mark on the creature's collarbone. It looked like an oval with an X inside it, a few dots around the inside of the circle.
"Interesting...." he muttered to himself
The Creature lunged at him, flapping its wings and immediately shooting up into the air, as if trying to feint Samuel. Without wasting time, Samuel aimed his gun at it and did what the Creature tried to do: feint it.
The Bat assumed it was going to get shot and immediately flapped its wings, moving to the side. The speed impressed Samuel, but he readjusted his aim, pulled back on the hammer, and pulled the trigger, firing a powerful shot.
The gunshot was louder, and the kick was heavier; Samuel felt the recoil but was unaffected. The bullet struck the Bat in the shoulder, blood splattering everywhere as it thrashed around and shrieking in pain.
"GREEEEEEEEE!!!!" The Creature let out as it hit the ground, rolling around violently, blood spreading everywhere, "REEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"
Samuel pulled back on the hammer again, aiming the revolver at the Creature. "That first revolver is nothing compared to this one." He said, "Higher-caliber runepowder rounds."
The Creature got up, clutching its bullet wound as it hissed in pure anger. Samuel noticed that the mark on the collarbone was pulsating with light, its entire body trembling as it emitted a thicker shadowy aura.
He narrowed his eyes, "Interesting..." He said, reaching into his satchel, "Could it be.....?"
The Creature lunged at him with blinding speed, causing him to step to the side to avoid its claws. Samuel pulled out a small silver orb, which was glowing in purple light. He immediately tossed it in the air and the Creature rushed towards it, swiping its claws at it on pure instinct. The claws shattered the orb and released a quick purple flash.
Samuel then watched as the bat's wings was covered in some sort of purple dust, crackling loudly. After a few seconds, he saw that the wing was emitting a purple steam from its skin.
"A curse." Samuel muttered to himself
Hunter Tools.
As a Monster Hunter Family, the Greyclaws have access to magic enchantments they can have crafted to create Hunter Tools. Samuel himself isn't capable of crafting these tools, but after years of hunting, he had witnessed his Father creating an entire arsenal of tools, enough to last an entire lifetime.
John Greyclaw created the Satchel of Holding that Samuel has strapped to his side at all times. It is a powerful enchanted item that allows Samuel to store various items without any worry of taking up space. Opening it grants access to a small pocket dimension that serves as convenient storage. In there, Samuel has several Hunter Tools stored, along with magic scrolls and potions.
The Tools he has used so far are Compact Orbs, Hunter Tools with enchantments. The Sildust enchantment is a way to exploit a Monster's allergic reaction to the substance. Shattering it upon a monster's skin causes it to jerk violently in pain, allowing the Hunter to take advantage of the opportunity.
This specific orb that Samuel had just used is a Cursed Detection Orb. Shattering it on a Monster allows the Hunter to detect any form of Curse that causes the Monster's existence. A purple substance appears on their skin, and they emit a steam of the same color. This confirms the presence of a Curse inflicted on the Monster.
Either the creature was an existing Monster, afflicted with a Curse to go on a Frenzy, or they were another living being turned into a Monster via the Curse.
"Seems that this is the Latter." Samuel muttered as the Bat Creature let out a loud shriek, "Oh well."
Samuel opened the chamber of his revolver, emptying it. A single empty casing fell out, along with five unused rounds. He allowed the empty casing to fall on the floor, tossing the handful of rounds into his Satchel.
He then flicked his coat to the left side, exposing the bullet holders on his gun belt. He hovered over the holders and activated a spell.
"Construct Bullets: Anti-Curse Rounds"
Suddenly, six large bullets appeared on the bullet holders, having purple runes on them. The runes were glowing, pulsating with light.
Samuel watched as the Creature rushed at it, "Oh well."
In an instant, right before getting with a claw swipe, Samuel dodged to the left, spinning around as he held his revolver in his hand.
"Evading Reload"
The rounds on the bullet holder disappeared, having been transported to his revolver's chambers. Samuel spun the chamber and closed it, having them ready for action.
"Alright." Samuel said as he looked at the creature, "Let's dance."
Construct Bullets and Evading Reload. Those are the two spells that Samuel had used. Construct Bullets is a very powerful Gun Magic spell, allowing the user to construct runepowder rounds using pure magic power. Depending on the user's skill, they can create different types of rounds with various enchantments. In this case, Samuel constructed Anti-Curse rounds, which are powerful runepowder rounds that can counteract the effects of a Curse.
Because of their powerful enchantments, Construction of these rounds is quite limited. Samuel has only these six rounds to get the job done.
Evading Reload allows Samuel to dodge an attack, having his revolver be reloaded by transporting the rounds in his bullet holder into the chamber of his equipped Revolver. This is a very handy spell that can be used indefinitely, as long as Samuel has his bullet holders full of rounds.
Because he is currently wielding Old Faithful, a High-Caliber Runepowder Six-Shooter, Samuel can utilize his Anti-Curse rounds with no problem. This Revolver is a jack of all trades, not only having high-caliber firepower, but it can also withstand the enchantments of all kinds of Runepowder Rounds.
It is a very adaptable firearm, making it Samuel's most trustworthy weapon that he can use in any fight.
"Alright, ugly." Samuel said, "Let's get this over with."
The Creature let out a loud shriek.
"Yea, yea." Samuel scowled, "I'm getting annoyed as well."
"Come, I'm right here."
