“Why is there nothing here?”

Liao Liao, dressed in a military-green tank top from Huaguo, his arms lined with solid muscle, complained as he rummaged through the shelves.

“Stop whining. We’re lucky if there’s anything edible at all.” Ji Chen adjusted his glasses.Full novel: Rebirth in the Apocalypse: The Little Vixen Wants Hugs and Kisses — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Three months ago, an earthquake struck Wenzhou. With the nation’s capabilities, it had long predicted the disaster—but what it didn’t foresee was that this earthquake would mark the beginning of humanity’s downfall.

The quake lasted for three full days. The earth collapsed, torrential rain poured without end. When it finally stopped, people thought they would see sunlight again.

Instead, they were met with hell.

The endless rain carried an unknown virus that swept through human bodies. The infected lost all reason, never tiring, turning into man-eating monsters.

People called them—zombies.

“Zombies incoming!”

Liao Liao and Ji Chen turned toward the man by the window.

His slightly messy bangs were tousled by the wind. Beneath his cold expression, a pair of sharp eyes locked onto the staggering figures approaching outside.

Liao Liao leaned against the window and glanced out. “Low-level zombies. I can take them down one swing at a time.”

Low-level zombies were the earliest stage—mindless creatures that only knew how to eat humans, relying on sound and the scent of “food.”

Jian An raised his hand. A streak of electricity flickered across his fingers—and the zombies in the distance collapsed silently.

“As expected of Brother Jian. One move says it all.” Liao Liao popped a piece of gum into his mouth.

“Let’s move once we’re done here. It’s getting dark.”

At night, zombies became several times more agile. This was not a good place to stay overnight.

Jian An weighed his backpack in his hand. “Let’s go.”

From the shadows, Wen Qi peeked out, revealing half her face. Her crimson eyes were fixed on the man’s retreating figure, shining with excitement.

Found him. Finally!

Wen Qi had originally been an unawakened little rabbit. But at Hefeng Temple, bathed in Buddhist light, she gradually gained consciousness, took human form, and became a rabbit spirit.

When she faced her heavenly tribulation, she failed—and ended up here.

She sniffed the air, cheeks puffing slightly, brows knitting together.

That man was about to leave.

Panicking, the little rabbit rushed forward.

But before she could even touch the edge of his clothes, Liao Liao grabbed her by the back of her collar and lifted her up.

“So it’s you who’s been following us.”

They had long noticed a “little tail” trailing behind them. Since she never showed herself, they hadn’t bothered catching her—turns out, she was just a girl.

She wore a flowing white hanfu with wide sleeves, highlighting her slender figure and fair, luminous skin. Her deer-like eyes were clear and innocent, almost bewitching to look at. On her head sat a baseball cap—an odd mix, yet somehow it worked on her.

In this day and age, such clothing was even stranger. Complicated ancient outfits only slowed you down—everyone now wore practical clothes for running and survival.

Dangling in the air, Wen Qi didn’t panic. She simply stared blankly at Jian An.

That scent… yes, it’s him. My benefactor.

So he came here. No wonder I waited so long and never found him.

Back when she was still a rabbit, she had nearly been captured by a demon hunter. Jian An had saved her. From then on, she followed him—until his death…

“Put her down. We’re leaving,” Jian An said, glancing at her.

The moment she heard they weren’t taking her, Wen Qi panicked. “I want to come with you!”

Liao Liao looked her up and down. She didn’t seem like she could even take one punch. “We’re doing something dangerous. Not for a little girl like you.”

“I’m very strong! Let me follow you!” she insisted, looking at Jian An.

Hearing her familiar voice, Jian An’s mind went blank. Only his heart pounded violently.

Found her… so in this life, we meet this early.

That’s right—Jian An had been reborn.

In his previous life, he trusted the wrong people, was betrayed by friends, and ended up blinded and crippled. Only one foolish little girl had stayed by his side.

This time… he wouldn’t let her leave again.

“Let her come,” he said.

—I won’t let you leave me again.

Ji Chen and Liao Liao stared at him in shock.

Jian An was never the type to keep a girl around.

“This place should do.”

They found a relatively clean room, though it had clearly been ransacked before.

“What’s your name? We can’t just keep calling you ‘hey you.’”

Wen Qi glanced at Jian An.

“Wen Qi.” She quietly shuffled closer to him.

“Food time, food time!” Ji Chen handed out military compressed biscuits.

Wen Qi sniffed hers, frowned—and tossed it away.

Behind her, a small black hole appeared and swallowed it with a whoosh.

Liao Liao: “!!!!”

Ji Chen: “!!!!”

Jian An glanced behind her.

So that’s where she got food from in the previous life…

Wen Qi blinked, confused by their reactions.

“That was my…” she trailed off, unsure how to explain. There was too much “junk” stored inside.

Her spatial storage had been a gift from her master.

It could hold living beings. Inside was a small wooden house filled with pills and medicines, a large patch of fertile black soil for herbs, and even a special plot for growing carrots—all arranged by Wen Qi herself.

“So powerful! Is that what space-type ability users can do?” Liao Liao scratched his head.

Space users were extremely rare—and highly protected.

Seeing their amazement, Wen Qi said eagerly, “I’m very capable. Can I stay by your side?”

She looked at Jian An expectantly.

“Yes.”

—you can only stay by my side.

“Yay!”

Now she could stay with her benefactor and repay him… He smells so good too. If I take a bite someday, he’ll definitely taste delicious.

“Hey, Wen Qi, if you don’t want biscuits, do you want some bread?” Liao Liao pulled out a squashed loaf from his bag, a little embarrassed.

Wen Qi reached out. A black hole appeared again as she rummaged inside.

Suddenly, her eyes lit up.

She pulled out a giant family-sized instant noodle pack meant for ten people.

Before finding Jian An, she had seen others eating this—it smelled amazing. She’d been craving it forever but didn’t know how to cook it.

Now someone could cook it for her!

Liao Liao: “!!!!”

Ji Chen: “!!!!”

Even Jian An raised an eyebrow.

“Wen Qi… you’ve got good stuff, huh.”

“This smells so good—I want this!” she said, eyes sparkling.

“But we don’t have water.”

Ji Chen had ice abilities, but melting it would take too long. Supplies were already running low.

“I do! I have water!”

Wen Qi quickly reached into her space, scooped up water from a stream, and held it out to Jian An.

Jian An looked at her.

Her cheeks puffed slightly from nervousness, dimples forming as she pressed her lips together. Her bright eyes stared at him without blinking.

When he didn’t respond, she stood on tiptoe, bringing her hand closer—

But she lost her balance and fell forward, splashing the water straight onto Jian An’s face.

Wen Qi: “!!!!”

Liao Liao: “!!!!”

Ji Chen: “!!!!”
