It was a young girl’s voice.

A dark glint flashed through Yun Manxia’s eyes. She handed her suitcase to a servant. “Take this upstairs for me later.”

She walked straight to the guest bedroom door.

There, she saw a stylishly dressed girl sitting by the bed like the owner of the place, directing servants as they tidied up the room.

The few clothes Yun Manxia had just put into the wardrobe yesterday had all been taken out.

The suitcase she had placed in the corner had also been dragged out and was now sitting in the middle of the room like a piece of trash.

A chill flashed across Yun Manxia’s eyes.

“M-Madam?!”

The two servants noticed her and instantly turned pale. They were still holding her belongings, unsure whether to drop them or put them down, frozen in place as they instinctively looked toward the girl.

Yun Manxia also looked at the girl.

Downstairs, upon hearing the voice, she had already recognized who it was—Wu Xiaoya, Aunt Wu’s daughter.

Aunt Wu’s husband had once been a driver for the Bai family. Years ago, he died in an accident while saving the Old Madam. Since then, the mother and daughter’s status in the Bai family had been different from ordinary servants.

Wu Xiaoya was technically a servant’s daughter, but the Old Madam treated her very well. Over time, she had come to regard herself as half a young lady of the Bai family.

In her previous life, this girl had often made trouble for her.

“Who gave you the right to touch my things?”

Standing at the doorway, Yun Manxia swept her gaze over the messy room and asked coldly.

The two servants moved their lips but didn’t dare to speak.

“Are these things yours?” Wu Xiaoya stood up and looked her over. “Why are your things in my room? Are you a new servant? Didn’t anyone tell you that these are all the masters’ rooms and you can’t just enter them?”

Her tone carried a sense of superiority, as if Yun Manxia really were just a servant.

But Yun Manxia’s appearance and bearing were nothing like a servant.

Anyone who mistook her for one was either blind—or doing it on purpose.

Wu Xiaoya clearly wasn’t blind.

Not to mention, the two servants had just called her “Madam.” She wasn’t deaf either.

Yun Manxia lazily lifted her eyelids, ignored her, and instead asked the two servants—

“You don’t recognize me? Is this a new maid?”

Wu Xiaoya’s expression froze. She glanced down at her expensive clothes—clearly different from a servant’s uniform.

“I’m not a servant!” she retorted.

“Then who are you?”

“I’m Wu Xiaoya!”

Her tone was strange—restrained yet tinged with subtle superiority, as if Yun Manxia should know who she was the moment she said her name.

But Yun Manxia simply crossed her arms, looking puzzled. “Wu Xiaoya? Who? Is there such a master in Yujing Garden?”

“You!” Wu Xiaoya felt humiliated and gritted her teeth. “My mom is Aunt Wu!”

“Oh, so you’re Aunt Wu’s daughter.” Yun Manxia sneered inwardly. Aunt Wu sure had quite the prestige—anyone hearing that tone might think she was someone of imperial status.

On the surface, she looked enlightened and said calmly, “But Aunt Wu’s daughter is still not a master of Yujing Garden. Who allowed you into my room?”

That single sentence—“Aunt Wu’s daughter is not a master here”—was like a hard slap across Wu Xiaoya’s face!

Wu Xiaoya suppressed her anger and smiled provocatively. “This room was personally given to me by Ninth Master!”

Personally given by Bai Hedu?

Yun Manxia didn’t believe a single word!

If he had really promised this room to Wu Xiaoya, how could it have been assigned to her?

Listening to Wu Xiaoya’s nonsense, Yun Manxia gave a faint smile. “You just said this is a master’s room. Before making such claims, think about your own status. For Aunt Wu’s sake, I’ll treat this as you having entered the wrong room this time!”

She knew Wu Xiaoya hated others mentioning her background. Outside, she never admitted she was just a servant’s daughter and often let people assume she was a proper young lady of the Bai family. So Yun Manxia said it deliberately—and as expected, Wu Xiaoya’s face turned extremely ugly.

Ignoring her expression, Yun Manxia glanced at the two servants and ordered, “Before Ninth Master returns, restore my room to how it was. This is the only chance I’ll give you—make sure you cherish it.”

After speaking, she turned and left.

The people in the room were stunned by her sudden aura, and silence lingered for a few seconds.

The two servants exchanged uneasy glances and looked at Wu Xiaoya. “Xiaoya, what should we do now?”

Wu Xiaoya suppressed her anger. “What do you mean what should we do? Are you really going to listen to her? Continue—bring my things in!”

“But what if she complains to Ninth Master…”

“Then let her. Do you think Ninth Master will side with her—or with me?” she sneered, lifting her chin with confidence.

The two servants immediately recalled how Wu Xiaoya had done similar things to previous madams, yet Ninth Master never bothered to intervene, and nothing had ever happened to her.

They instantly felt reassured.

In Yujing Garden, currying favor with the madam had little future—but pleasing Xiaoya was different…

Downstairs.

Yun Manxia kept an eye on upstairs and noticed the commotion in the guest bedroom was still ongoing.

She curled her lips coldly but didn’t go up to stop them.

Two hours later, Bai Hedu returned.

Hearing the sound of him entering, Yun Manxia’s eyes lit up, and she walked out briskly to greet him.

Bai Hedu was wheeled inside. Behind him, aside from Lin Shen, were several other subordinates.

“You’re back!”

Seeing the bright smile of the girl running toward him, Bai Hedu’s deep, cold eyes softened ever so slightly.

He responded with a low “Mm,” then suddenly noticed the suitcase she had brought from the Yun family still sitting beside the sofa. “You just got back?”

Yun Manxia shook her head and said in a slightly coquettish tone, “I’ve been waiting for you for over two hours!”

Her words were sweet to hear, but Bai Hedu’s gaze soon darkened again as he glanced at the suitcase. “You’ve been back this long—why haven’t you taken your things upstairs? Did the servants refuse to listen to you?”

Hearing the displeasure in his tone, faintly carrying a trace of intimidation, the nearby servant panicked, her face turning pale. “Madam…”

She looked at Yun Manxia pleadingly, hoping she would explain.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take it upstairs—it was that the guest bedroom had been occupied by Wu Xiaoya, and she didn’t know where to put it!

Yun Manxia glanced at her. She had some impression of this servant and knew she was relatively honest and hadn’t mingled with Wu Xiaoya’s group, so she said, “It’s not her fault…”

Before she could finish, Wu Xiaoya came downstairs.

Surprisingly, she was dragging a suitcase, looking as if she were about to leave.

When she saw Bai Hedu, she ran over happily. “Ninth Master!”

But the moment she noticed Yun Manxia beside him, her eyes turned red, and her smile became forced.

Yun Manxia narrowed her eyes. What was she trying to do now?

“Xiaoya, you’re back?” Lin Shen, who was familiar with her, casually asked, “What are you doing?”

“I…” Wu Xiaoya looked aggrieved and quickly glanced at Yun Manxia. “There’s someone here who can’t tolerate me. Ninth Master, I’d better move out!”
