The journey to the mine was the same as before.

They reached the mine and they were handed pickaxes to begin their work.

He wanted to test the limits of his new power.

With a single swing of his axe, a large boulder was neatly split into two.

The Wena who were nearby stopped their work and looked at him as though he was no longer one of them.

They did not know how close to the truth they were.

Kata took a few more swings and in a matter of minutes, he completed work that would have taken him three days.

He moved further away from the other slaves and, with no witnesses in sight, he raised his right hand and chopped down against a large boulder.

Crrrrkkk!

The boulder was split into five neat pieces.

This boulder was made from the same strange rock that, a few days ago, he could not split unless he used the axe.

In fact, he could not break even a small pebble before.

The situation was now clearly far removed from the past.

Kata grabbed a piece of the rock and squeezed as hard as he could.

The rock was turned to soil with ease.

Kata smiled wildly at this.

He continued experimenting to find the limits of his power, and by the second day, he had yet to break a single sweat.

The slave masters had served their strange food to the slaves, but Kata barely looked at it.

In his eyes, eating cockroaches was far better than this so-called food.

He did not feel any hunger, and he was sure that he could go on like this for at least a month.

His body was filled with power and his mind stayed nimble after working for so long under the sun.

When he first tasted the effects of the sun against his people, Kata was left with boils and blisters by the time night came, but this was no longer the case. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

The sun no longer had any negative effects on him.

In fact, he felt as though he was absorbing sunlight like some sort of green plant.

This was not surprising since he now had the ability to absorb all energy around him.

Kata was busy breaking rock just as usual when he heard someone who had reached their mental limit.

“I will not die in this place.

I will not,” the man cried out.

Kata recognized the voice as belonging to the thin man whom he had intimidated into helping him bury his useless father a few days earlier.

Kata moved out from behind the small hill where he had been working.

At the center of the mine, the thin man stood with his face filled with hopelessness and despair.

His eyes were filled with madness and his green skin was covered in blisters caused by the sun.

“I would rather die than work like a horse for the humans.

Kill me if you must but I will no longer allow myself to live like this,” the man cried out as he ran for the hills.

The mine was surrounded by a wooden fence, but this was far from enough to stop the Wena from escaping.

They were powerful enough to shatter the fence with a few blows, and yet they never did.

Kata watched everything with an intensity like never before.

He wanted to see what the humans had done to break the Wena so.

The thin man made it to the fence and, just as he raised his leg to kick the fence into smithereens, a human man flew over.

When Kata saw the man flying through the sky like some sort of plane, he was shaken.

“Are these people actually human?

Humans cannot fly,” he gasped out loud.

Kata was the only one who stayed standing up, and this was not because he was the bravest.

It was simply that he was the only one plagued by ignorance over the situation.

Kata looked at the flying man.

He stood on a shiny long sword, and when he reached above the thin Wena attempting to escape, the human raised his whip and struck out.

The whip moved like a living thing, a snake out to bring death to whatever it touched.

Kata’s eyes glowed slightly, allowing him to see a mysterious energy that filled the whip.

The tip of the whip touched the Wena and that was the end.

The thin man exploded into countless pieces that shot into all directions as his blood covered the earth.

“Filthy mongrel,” the human said.

Kata finally understood why the Wena were no more than slaves to the humans.

The Wena had powerful bodies and heaven-defying regenerative abilities, and yet the humans had somehow harnessed some kind of power that made all the advantages that the Wena should have had into nothing but qualifications for being the best possible slaves.

Kata could feel the power moving through his blood, and yet he now knew that this was far from enough if he wanted to face the humans.

These were not the same humans he knew from his past life.

After killing the Wena so easily, the human stood on his sword and surveyed the place in the same manner as one would look upon their herd of sheep.

Kata regained his senses and fell to his knees before the human saw him.

This was not the time to attract attention from the man.

After the death, one would think that the Wena would be broken up about the matter, but this was not the case.

The Wena just went back to their work and no one dared collect the many pieces of flesh that covered the earth for burial.

Soon, the sound of axes meeting rocks filled the mines once more.

The three days of constant mining came to an end, and the Wena were taken back to their camp for a day of rest.

Kata walked back with countless thoughts going through his mind.
