Kata had a single day to do whatever he wanted before he had to go back to slaving away for the humans.
Kata did not know how the humans had come to the conclusion that all the wena had to be enslaved, and for now, he was still giving them the benefit of the doubt.
After all, he had been human in his past life and he understood that for a decision such as this to be made, there had to have been more than a few earth-shattering incidents to warp human empathy by so much.
Kata ate the roots that his mother cooked and after that, he left for the forests.
Kara was asleep, so she would not be asking any questions as long as he came back in time to go to the mines.
In the forest, Kata moved until he reached a small hill he had chosen as his base.
He pulled a few fallen trees to the side and began digging.
With his strength and determination, it took him three hours to create a deep underground cave large enough for him to walk about freely.
It was large enough for ten people to live comfortably without ever needing to talk to each other.
Kata then created a concealed entrance obscured by tall trees and bushes.
With this done, Kata entered the cavern and began examining the metal pipe.
This was the same pipe he had used to kill the first cockroach.
It was the closest thing he had to a weapon, and so he had not been stupid enough to throw it away.
Kata sat down and looked the pipe over.
It was made from iron and that was all.
It already had signs of rusting away.
Kata was suddenly pulled into thoughts about the flying humans and how they could have possibly achieved something of that magnitude.
“Since humans began thinking, they have wanted to fly and the people in this world have somehow achieved this dream, gaining power equal to the gods,” he thought.
Kata was suddenly pulled back to reality when he felt something flowing through his hands.
He looked down and he instinctively jumped as high as he could go.
He crashed into the cave wall, making the small hill tremble.
By the time he fell back to the floor, he had calmed down long enough to realize what was going on.
His hands no longer appeared to be made of blood and flesh.
They glowed like steel freshly taken out of the furnace.
They were red hot and gave off a terrible heat.
Kata touched the wall and the stone began melting. This story is hosted at g.com.
“The God Spark had granted me the power to control energy.
Apart from simply taking it in, I can bring it out and mold it as I see fit.” Kata analyzed his situation and in the end, he determined that he was not simply bringing this energy out of his body, he was generating it himself.
For now, it was limited to his hands, but he suspected that as he grew more powerful, he could come to do more than just that.
He looked at the iron that had melted from his touch.
It now formed a small pool that was rapidly hardening.
Kata saw this and began thinking of all the things he could make.
‘Since I still am not powerful enough to directly face these strange humans, I shall create powerful weapons from my past life.
With these, even these humans shall come to yield.
As far as I can tell, these humans do not have the technology to create modern weapons.
The kind that humans in my past life spent thousands of years refining and mastering.
With these weapons, I created the most powerful empire in human history.
With them, I shall stand supreme.’
Kata knelt before the molten iron and placed a single finger in the pool to make sure that he was indeed fireproof.
The hot liquid felt like a simple warm tea spilled on his skin.
He was happy with this revelation.
He immediately began molding the liquid as he wished.
Kata took his time to perfect each detail about the weapon he was creating.
After about three hours, he finally completed the weapon—the first in this world.
The weapon was a gun.
It was the Barrett M107.
It was an imposing, blocky metal semi-automatic rifle.
It had a long, heavy barrel ending in a prominent muzzle brake.
The gun weighed 12.4 kg (27.4 lbs) with a length of 57 inches (145 cm).
Kata had created everything using the metal, but he made sure that every detail was perfect.
The only thing now missing were the bullets.
Kata had long ago come to realize that he did not have bullets and creating gunpowder would be too much stress for him.
He had therefore made a few modifications to the gun in this regard.
Within the barrel, he created two parallel, highly conductive rails.
This turned the gun into a railgun.
Kata had the ability to control energy and he believed that by channeling a massive electrical current down the two parallel rails, he could fire the bullets with ease.
“When a metal bullet is loaded, it should complete the electrical circuit.” From his understanding of his new creation, the current flowing down the rails and through the bullet would generate a powerful localized magnetic field.
This would create a directional electromagnetic thrust that would push perpendicularly to both the current and the magnetic field.
This force would violently propel the bullets forward along the rail.
The bullet would leave the barrel at hypersonic speeds, way faster than a normal gun.
This of course meant that Kata could not use simple metals to create his bullets since they would melt due to atmospheric friction.
He needed metals that had a high melting point, but he had no idea where to get these.
He needed something like tungsten.
Kata believed that with a gun like this, there would be no stopping him.
Kata examined the gun he had created and went over every detail until he ran out of time and returned to camp with the realization that iron was not good enough for what he wanted to create.
The prototype was a failure before he even fired a single bullet.
“I must find a more durable metal.
Fortunately, I know where to get some,” he thought.
The slave masters came to camp and led the wena to the mines as usual.
This time around, Kata could not wait to reach their destination.
At the mines, he was handed an axe and when he looked at its blade, he almost salivated.
He carried his axe and moved to an isolated part of the mine where he worked normally for the first day.
It was on the second day, when the slavers had relaxed their monitoring, that he began on his plans.
