Kata had been wise enough to collect some of the bullets after using them.
He had twelve bullets left but this was to be expected since many of them had created deep holes in the earth and thus could not be retrieved without digging for days.
He knew how he had suffered and the risks he took on to get these bullets for himself and so he had found ways to save a few for the future.
He was not sure when he would be getting his hands on more bullets and he did not want to risk finding himself helpless before the power of the humans.
With the twelve bullets loaded in his rail gun, Kata walked into the camp and headed for the central areas to meet the incompetent leader of the wena.
Even though the wena were slaves, their leader should have managed to get them a few basic rights.
This was what Kata believed.
The tent was the most luxurious in this cesspool.
It was still covered with mud and all sorts of fluids Kata did not want to think about but it was at least not covered in holes.
At the entrance, there were two wena who appeared to be guards.
They carried sticks that had been sharpened to work as spears.
The moment they saw him walking towards the tent, they pointed their spears at him.
“Stop right there,” they both said as they looked at the rail gun in Kata’s hands.
They had never seen anything like it.
“I have come to have a conversation with the chief,” he said.
The guards just broke out into laughter.
This was because Kata was still only a little kid not more than ten years old.
He was a little over five feet tall but for the wena, this was still very short.
His face still had baby fat and his hair was still smooth and glossy like that of a child.
For him to demand an audience with the chief was indeed laughable.
A few people from the nearby tents also began laughing at the absurdity of the situation.
Kata just stood there and waited for the laughter to die down.
“Will you move out of the way or do I have to remove you myself.”
This time, he did not wait for the laughter to begin.
He blew out the knee caps of one of the guards, the one who had laughed the hardest.
The sound alone was enough to startle everyone in the camp, attracting attention from far and wide.
Blood and bone shards flew in all directions.
After a second, the man cried out like a pig being slaughtered.
The wena who had gathered ran away from this place as fast as possible.
They were like animals, their minds filled with nothing but this new foreign sound.
The second guard pissed himself and a second later, he was covered in his own shit.
Kata frowned at this.
“What are you waiting for,” he asked the man.
This was all it took to bring him back to reality.
He threw the makeshift spear to the side and ran away as fast as he could.
The man whose knee cap had been shot out crawled away as best he could and when his knee cap grew back after a few seconds, he got to his sore feet and ran like the wind.
Kata entered the tent as though he owned the place.
The inside was not as shabby as the tent where Kata lived with his mother.
This tent had a few pieces of furniture and the bed was actually well made.
Kata sat in the only chair in the tent and looked at the bed with longing.
“Come out before I drag you out,” he barked.
A few seconds later, a woman crawled out from under the bed.
She was very beautiful with features that rivaled those of Kara, Kata’s mother.
This woman was the chief of the wena.
She was trembling ever so slightly and her eyes were darting about the place, searching for salvation.
She had seen how Kata had used the gun in his hands and she did not want to see how it could be used against her.
To her, it was akin to thunder produced from the earth if not worse.
“Sit down,” Kata ordered.
She obeyed without any protest.
‘She is almost broken,’ he thought.
“Tell me everything you know about the humans.”
The woman was taken aback by this request.
She looked Kata over and when her eyes met his, she found a coldness that made her realize that the child before her was more than willing to kill her should she anger him in the slightest.
“The humans are our masters and we are their slaves.
This is the way of the world,” she said.
Kata shook his head at this nonsense.
It seemed that the wena had been forced into a slave mentality to the point that they saw very little wrong with their current situation.
“How are the humans able to fly,” he made his inquiry more specific.
The woman was once again surprised but she answered.
“Long ago, the humans were enslaved by us wena.
We killed, raped and dehumanized them.
To us, they were nothing but tools for our amusement.
At that time, we ruled the world.
This was made possible due to our strength and regenerative abilities.
A single wena was powerful enough to kill hundreds of humans.
The humans lived for about forty years and we lived for at least one thousand years before we would be considered old.
To make matters more unfair towards the humans, the wena grew stronger the older they became.
With this imbalance in power, us wena were the dominant species in the world and yet our ancestors chose to misuse their power.
They did not develop society or make any contributions for the good of the myriad races.
They simply used the other races as nothing more than slaves and sex tools.
This is the legacy that our ancestors left behind.”
