Throughout the night, the roars of zombies echoed outside without stopping. Yet Mu Cheng slept soundly, because she knew the door had been securely locked and those newly turned zombies outside couldn’t get in.

When Mu Cheng woke up in the morning, Tang Nuo was still unconscious. The stream water in the bathtub had turned a dark reddish-black and emitted a foul stench. Disgusted, Mu Cheng covered her nose and mouth and left the room.

She took out some bread and milk for breakfast. While eating, she went downstairs, planning to search the building to see if she could find anything useful.Full novel: Reborn in the Apocalypse: Picking Up a Corpse King as a Bodyguard — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

At the other end of the corridor, Mu Cheng discovered an evidence room. Since she had nothing else to do at the moment, she shot the lock off the door and pushed it open, wanting to see if there was anything inside that might be useful.

Tall metal shelves filled the room, holding all sorts of confiscated evidence. There was a bit of everything, but nothing that Tang Nuo might consider useful. As she walked further inside, she noticed more than a dozen boxes placed on the floor at the back.

She opened one of them.

“My goodness.”

Mu Cheng gasped in surprise. Her eyes widened as she stared at the various weapons inside the box.

Excitedly, she opened the other boxes. They were all filled with weapons. Three of the long boxes even contained rocket launchers.

With something this good, Mu Cheng naturally wasn’t going to leave it behind. She quickly stored everything into her space.

Just as she finished collecting the dozen or so boxes, a loud crash came from outside.

Could someone else have come to loot the police station like she had?

Oh no—Tang Nuo.

Mu Cheng immediately became anxious. If someone saw Tang Nuo lying in the bathtub like that, it would be a disaster.

Without hesitation, she rushed out of the evidence room and ran back toward the armory.

A wall in front of the armory had already collapsed. The entire room was filled with dust, making it impossible to see anything clearly. Before Mu Cheng could even react, another loud crash sounded from inside the armory.

She hurried inside.

Tang Nuo was standing in front of a wall. That wall had already completely collapsed, sending clouds of dust into the air.

This guy was practically a demolition expert.

Tang Nuo felt extremely irritated. At that moment, all he wanted was to release the agitation in his heart with his fists.

He heard footsteps behind him and instinctively turned around, throwing a punch. But the familiar scent reached him, and he gradually regained his clarity. When she emerged from the dust, the agitation in his heart instantly vanished.

He quietly looked at Mu Cheng.

Why was it like this? Just moments ago he had been filled with irritation, but the moment he saw her, his heart calmed down completely. He could control his emotions again, and even the urge to kill seemed to disappear from his body.

Mu Cheng waved her hand to disperse the dust around her.

“Second Brother Tang, let’s leave this place first. This building might collapse at any moment.”

After saying that, Mu Cheng walked out of the building, and Tang Nuo quietly followed behind her.

The two of them went to another building. Mu Cheng took the bathtub out of her space again and poured some tap water into it. She also took out a clean set of men’s sportswear, a towel, body wash, and shampoo.

“Second Brother Tang, wash up first and change into clean clothes. I’ll make something to eat outside.”

Tang Nuo’s whole body was still dripping wet. His clothes were dark and filthy, and they gave off a foul smell. If he kept following her around like that, she’d feel sick.

Before Mu Cheng finished preparing the meal, Tang Nuo had already cleaned himself up and come out. After removing his military uniform and changing into simple sportswear, he still looked just as handsome.

Tang Nuo sat down beside Mu Cheng without saying a word.

Mu Cheng also remained silent.

The two of them sat there quietly until the food was ready. Mu Cheng handed Tang Nuo a bowl of rice, and only then did he finally speak.

“Thank you.”

Thank you for saving me. Thank you for helping me.
