A cold aura suddenly filled the entire medical room.
The door slowly opened.
Master Bai Ruyu walked inside and looked at Chen Feng and Chen Ling with a cold expression.
Bai Ruyu: “You two understand your mistake, right?
A war has already broken out between the Demon Kingdom and the righteous sects, yet you still left the sect and went to the market.”
Chen Ling immediately lowered her head.
Chen Ling: “Master, Chen Feng is not at fault in this matter.
I was the one who insisted on going to the market.
Everything that happened is my responsibility.”
Chen Feng quickly interrupted her.
Chen Feng: “No, Master.
I am also responsible.
If punishment is necessary, then please punish me instead.”
Bai Ruyu’s expression remained cold.
Bai Ruyu: “I do not want to hear any more excuses from either of you.”
The pressure in the room became heavier.
Bai Ruyu: “When we return to Azure Cloud Peak, both of you will be punished.”
Chen Feng nodded calmly.
Chen Feng: “Understood, Master.”
Bai Ruyu then looked at him seriously.
Bai Ruyu: “Now tell me everything that happened.”
Chen Feng began explaining the entire incident from the beginning.
However, he intentionally hid the true cultivation level of the black-robed man.
He only described the enemy as strong, but not overwhelmingly powerful.
After listening quietly, Bai Ruyu narrowed her eyes slightly.
Bai Ruyu: “Meilin, come with me.
We will investigate that cave ourselves.”
She paused for a moment before continuing.
Bai Ruyu: “During the recent conflict, several demon cultivators secretly entered the spiritual lands.
Many sects and officials are already searching for them.”
Senior Sister Meilin nodded.
Meilin: “Yes, Master.”
The two quickly left the medical hall.
Soon, only Chen Ling and Wu Fan remained in the room.
Wu Fan scratched his head awkwardly.
Wu Fan: “I only came to check if you were alive.
Since you’re awake and looking fine now, I’ll leave you two alone.”
Before Chen Feng could reply, Wu Fan immediately ran away as if a wild beast were chasing him.
Chen Ling’s face turned slightly red after hearing his words.
To hide her embarrassment, she quickly stood up.
Chen Ling: “I-I’ll go prepare something for you to eat.”
After saying that, she hurried out of the room.
Chen Feng leaned back onto the bed and stared at the ceiling silently.
A serious expression slowly appeared on his face.
Chen Feng (in his mind): “Today, Chen Ling and I almost died at the hands of that demon cultivator…”
His fists tightened slightly despite the pain.
Chen Feng (in his mind): “In this world, only the strong can live peacefully.
I must become stronger as soon as possible.”
A short while later, Chen Ling returned carrying a bowl of food.
Chen Feng tried to sit up.
However, both of his arms were heavily injured, making it impossible for him to eat by himself.
Chen Ling hesitated for a moment before gently sitting beside him.
Then, she quietly started feeding him.
Chen Feng became a little embarrassed at first, but he had no way to refuse.
In the end, he could only helplessly accept it.
After finishing the meal, Chen Ling stood up with the empty bowl.
Chen Ling: “If you need anything, just call me.
I’ll be outside.”
Chen Feng revealed a gentle smile.
Seeing that smile, Chen Ling’s face immediately turned red again.
She quickly turned around and ran outside the room.
Chen Feng slowly lay back down.
Because of exhaustion and his injuries, he soon fell asleep.
Some time later…
A small figure silently entered the room through the window.
It was a little girl wearing a red dress.
She looked around the same age as Chen Feng and Chen Ling.
The mysterious girl quietly stared at the sleeping Chen Feng before revealing a faint smile.
Meanwhile…
Master Bai Ruyu and Meilin arrived outside the cave entrance.
The entire path was strangely quiet.
However, they could not find the corpse of the black-robed cultivator anywhere.
Bai Ruyu’s expression became serious.
Bai Ruyu: “Meilin, stay alert.
There may still be hidden dangers inside the cave.”
Meilin: “Yes, Master.”
The two carefully entered the cave.
After searching for some time, they discovered a horrifying room deep inside.
Human skulls were scattered everywhere.
Beside them was a deep well filled with blood.
Strange symbols and arrays covered the walls and floor.
It was clearly a sacrificial ritual setup.
Meilin frowned.
Meilin: “Master, it looks like everything important has already been cleaned away.”
Bai Ruyu silently looked around the cave.
Then she turned around.
Bai Ruyu: “Let’s leave first.”
Her voice became colder.
Bai Ruyu: “We will report this matter to the Sect Master and the other elders before returning again.”
The two walked out of the cave.
But the moment they stepped outside—
A black figure was already standing there waiting for them.
