Joy doesn’t wait for anything else to trigger.
He knew that danger is right behind him.
His heart beats faster than usual.
He didn’t find it strange as such a situation would make anyone feel tense.
He let both of them know that as well.
“Run!”
Kek and Mar also look at the direction where Joy was looking at.
They also see a man approaching them.
Then their heart starts beating faster as well.
As Joy’s instruction, all of them starts running away from the man.
There isn’t any strategy as all of them feel too tense to think for anything.
Soon, this tension turns to fear.
Kek and Mar are the first victim of this effect.
There legs tremble and they make wrong decisions.
Sometimes they think of running towards different directions but then they change their minds.
This uncertainty stems from the fear that they’re suddenly feeling.
Joy has been through two deaths and experienced fears that surpass ordinary people.
So, the tension that he felt didn’t turn into straight fear of any sort.
So, he could still comprehend his surroundings and these series of events helped him figured out some things.
‘That man is a power wielder.
His ability is to exaggerate human emotions?
Or maybe is more related to stirring human emotions into a chaotic state.
There might be even more abilities that he possesses.
Like how he looked like a shadow of a man when I looked from afar….’ This is his second time encountering someone who has magic powers.
First one was Mel.
However, this time the person is his enemy.
He has no idea what sort of abilities he possesses.
The greatest problem of ability rituals is that it becomes almost impossible to tell what sort of abilities the person would gain through these rituals.
Even if he knows the other person’s affinity.
The individual can still learn abilities that doesn’t require affinity of a domain.
So, his enemy can have more abilities that he doesn’t know about.
As these thoughts take place, his emotions stir even further making him feel cold and helpless.
‘This is so frustrating.
But this ability should be limited to an area.
This can give us a chance.’ He calmed his nerves down and makes a judgement that this ability of stirring human emotions should have a limited range.
The best thing to do right now is to spit up.
Making the shadow man choose where to target his ability.
This will let the other two to be free of fear and go search for some help.
Joy speaks.
“Split up and search for help.”
The other two are still panicking but they do hear his words.
So, Kek and Mar move to left and right directions respectively.
Joy just keeps on running straight ahead.
This tactic helps a little as his heart calms down a little.
Letting him breathe a little.
Perhaps, as the targets have split up.
The ability has to widen its range which makes the effect weaker.
Joy doesn’t relax as he keeps on running.
However, suddenly his head hurts like he has been hit on it.
‘He is targeting all his ability on me?
Why me?
Damnit!’
It would be a lie if he didn’t want this attack to be directed at Mar or Kek. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.
He only cares about himself and so he doesn’t want to suffer through such a soul crushing attack.
However, it is also the best possible outcome too.
This is because if it were Kek or Mar, they would’ve already fallen on the ground.
Joy’s resilience is helping him still keep on moving while being the one who is targeted by such an attack.
The pain continues for thirty seconds more but it felt like eternity.
He wants his head to split up so this pain can end.
But he calmed his nerves as much as he could and didn’t give up.
His steps stumbled and at times he felt like the shadows have grown deeper and darker.
‘NO.
The shadows are actually moving around me.
I am surrounded.’
He isn’t sure what is happening anymore.
Either it is because of the ability or his own inner self.
But he is starting to lose hope.
Like he is going to die now and has to restart again.
Again and again, despair never ends.
It all just leads to his… death.
Suddenly, he crashes into something.
It is a man.
This collision forces him to fall on the ground and look up in horror.
He thought that the face of the individual that he is going to see is of a shadow that has unblinking eyes and terrifying rows of teeth.
However, what is found was a familiar face.
This is the face of the man who he has seen before.
It is that man who came to the temple on Sunday asking about his dream of his mother telling him to get married.
‘What is he doing here?’
This man wears cheap gentlemanly clothes.
However, he still looks quite respectable and have a sense of high status.
As Joy looks at him, he feels a dream like sense that he has been concealed from the emotion stirring ability.
He isn’t sure how or when but he doesn’t have that throbbing pain in his head anymore.
One thought that come to mind is that he also has mystical abilities.
The man looks at his front and stares at something.
Joy looks at the direction where the man is staring at but finds no one there.
It is just shadowy darkness covering the street.
Suddenly in one second the shadows stir up causing chaos.
But on the very next second a dream like concealment became stronger.
The shadows disappeared and the man too.
‘Wait, am I in a dream?
Is this the ability of the man who seems to be protecting me?
But where did he come from and why?
This can’t be a coincident.
What if this is because of old Nors?’ He has told old Nors that he will be going outside.
But never told him where or when will he return.
It could be that old Nors had told this man to follow him to protect Joy?
‘No, that is too abused.
Why would someone hire someone to protect him who is a nobody.’ He says that in a self-deprecating manner.
The correct answer should be that old Nors had let this man that Joy would be going to the illegal bazaar.
So, if Joy got into trouble or something else happen.
Then he can come to rescue him.
This is still a stretch. This chapter is updated first at g.com.
It might also be the Mar or Kek found him somewhere and told him to help him.
Or this man was searching for these kidnappers and Joy was someone who is an innocent victim of the kidnaper.
So, he is helping him as a duty.
So, it means that this man is from police.
As Joy is thinking about these things.
He is isolated in the silence of a peaceful dream.
But he seems to be able to sense that there is a fight that is happening on the level of super humans.
However, this fight ends quickly.
The dream concealment disappears and Joy is back into the real world.
The man return to Joy’s side.
‘Did the fight already ended?
He won?
Or maybe the kidnaper actually ran away.
Yeah, that makes more sense.
Someone like that would obviously have ability to run away.’
The man bents down to Joy’s level and introduces himself.
“I am Ben Konical. I am from police. Your friends found me so I came to see you there. You were really scared and had lost consciousness. I picked you up and maybe cause of that the man got scared of me and ran away. Are you okay now? Are you injured?”
Joy thinks in his mind, ‘Oh, so he is from police and my guess of Kek or Mar finding him was correct….
I should play along and act clueless.’
He pretends to be panic and look around in a little fear.
Then he says.
“…I am okay. I am not hurt.”
He answers straight forward without making it suspicious.
This person is from police so overacting is the worst thing he can do.
Best thing to do is to just answer simply and don’t act suspicious.
Ben nods and speaks.
“What happened exactly? And what were you doing at night?”
Joy answers.
“Our friend’s big brother had told us to come alone with him to the illegal bazaar. I didn’t know much so I came alone. When we were returning. His big brother and he left us three here. But when we were about to go back home. Then I… I don’t know what happened. Someone started following us so we split up. But then something scary happened and I don’t remember anything after that.”
He didn’t hide anything.
He told the truth and made sure to sound a little confused with his explanation.
However, he didn’t exaggerate anything and just answer quickly to the adult in front of him.
He was kind of nervous too as he didn’t know what sort of abilities might this police man would have.
He might know some lie detection ability so he prevented any lie from coming from his mouth.
The police officer nodded and told him to hold his hand so they can both look for his friends.
Joy did as he was told without saying anything.
Then both left to go search for Mar and Kek.
This made him felt safe.
That is because he is with a more competent individual this time.
Later both Mar and Kek were found.
Then they returned back to their homes with Officer Ben.
He didn’t complaint to the Kek or Mar’s families and he didn’t say anything to the priest of the Goddess temple.
He just touched his chest from left to right and left form outside the temple and left.
Joy couldn’t help but think that this wasn’t a coincident.
And now that the officer didn’t bring them to the police.
It made it even clearly now.
Perhaps, they were being used as a bait to lure out the kidnappers.
Or something else is related to it.
Whatever the case, he can’t care about it anymore.
He just wants to sleep in his little hut.
‘Goodnight me…’
