The two of them remained sprawled on the floor for a while, quietly recovering their strength.
Rebecca took two packs of compressed biscuits and a bottle of water from her bag.
As the team’s medic, she was responsible for the squad’s medical support and logistics.
Naturally, the pack on her back contained medicine, emergency supplies, and some food.
After resting for some time, Han Yue felt that more than half of his strength had returned.
He checked the time and realized it was already well into the latter half of the night.
“Let’s go.
We still need to find a way out.”
As he spoke, Han Yue pulled Rebecca up to her feet.
Only then did he notice that in the spot where the giant centipede had appeared earlier, there was actually a key lying there.
Han Yue immediately guessed where that key should be used.
After unlocking a door with it, the two entered Marcus’s study.
There, they found one of James Marcus’s diaries.
The diary recorded Dr.
Marcus’s state of mind during the development of the T-Virus.
Han Yue flipped through it briefly, then used what he already knew to explain part of it to Rebecca.
After what had happened with the centipede, it was obvious that the relationship between the two of them had deepened considerably.
Although Rebecca had not directly answered Han Yue’s shameless demand that she “repay him by marrying him,” that kiss from earlier had already been a kind of answer.
Because of that, Han Yue no longer bothered hiding much from her.
After a quick search of the room, the two followed a staircase downward and entered the underground prison area.
But before they had gone far into the corridor, they saw several giant spiders crawling across the walls.
Han Yue could only steel himself and fight them head-on.
To be honest, Han Yue genuinely hated spiders, insects, and things like that.
Normally, even seeing a tiny one was enough to make his scalp tingle.
Still, since he had chosen the Resident Evil instance, then dealing with this kind of disgusting nightmare was simply part of the package.
After taking care of the spiders with a few close calls but no real danger, the two finally arrived at the dungeon.
The place was filled with all kinds of torture devices.
There was no need to inspect them closely to imagine what horrifying things had once happened there.
However, from beginning to end, Han Yue and Rebecca’s movements had all been exposed under surveillance.
Watching the two enter his laboratory, Marcus released a mutated ape imprisoned inside one of the cells: an Eliminator.
It was a type of B.O.W.
created by infecting an ape host with the T-Virus.
Elsewhere in the Executive Training School, William Birkin and Wesker used the information they had gathered to deduce the probable identity of that mysterious young man.
Dr.
Marcus.
The very same man the two of them had killed with their own hands all those years ago.
As for why Marcus, who had clearly been dead, had somehow returned to life, become young again, and gained the ability to control leeches, they had no answer.
But there was one thing they did understand.
If Marcus had truly come back, then Umbrella Corporation was probably about to face serious trouble.
After a brief exchange, Wesker revealed to William Birkin his plan to leave Umbrella.
But William Birkin still needed Umbrella’s equipment and funding in order to continue his development of the G-Virus, so he chose not to go with him.
The two argued.
Yet when they finally parted ways, Wesker still stated that he would obey company orders and lure S.T.A.R.S.
Alpha Team into the virus-leaking mansion in order to test the B.O.W.s’ live combat data.
By doing so, he would also be helping William Birkin complete the final stage of the T-Virus research.
At this moment, probably no one could have imagined that these two men—who had spent more than ten years as both colleagues and rivals—would, more than a decade later, end up becoming family in a roundabout way.
…….
Meanwhile, on the other side, Rebecca suddenly received a call from Captain Enrico, asking whether she had found Billy Coen.
In the original game, after the two of them had gone through life and death together, Rebecca chose to lie to her captain.
Billy also explained that he had been framed.
But now, the person at her side had changed from Billy to Han Yue.
So Rebecca’s answer changed as well.
Billy Coen had already been shot dead, and his body should still be on the overturned train.
The two kept moving and soon encountered the Eliminator.
But a mutated monkey was only so threatening.
A shotgun blast to the head was basically enough to make it one shot, one kill.
Soon after, they arrived in a room whose walls were lined with all kinds of weapons and ammunition.
Submachine guns, shotguns, AKs, M4s, and many rifles Han Yue couldn’t even name—there was even a rocket launcher.
Unfortunately, there was only a single rocket round.
The moment Han Yue saw that, he understood immediately:
this was obviously being reserved for the final boss.
No matter what kind of monster it was, nothing survived an RPG round.
And if one shot somehow was not enough, then the answer was simple—use two.
Here, Han Yue also benefited from having an inventory bag, which allowed him to directly store all sorts of firearms.
Right in front of Rebecca, he put on a little magic trick.
Once he had enough weapons and ammunition in hand, things like zombies, giant spiders, and other mutations instantly lost most of their ability to scare him.
Han Yue directly took the lead and cleared the way in front.
The two of them passed through the observatory and arrived at a structure that looked very much like a church.
Here, mutated leeches could be seen everywhere, along with rows of culture tanks.
It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
