Beyond the door was the second-floor corridor of the mansion, with the first-floor hall directly below.
A dagger had been stabbed into the door of a nearby room.
Jill pulled it out and tucked it at her waist.
As everyone knows, in Resident Evil, the strongest weapon is the knife.
Leon, Claire—it doesn’t matter.
Put a knife in their hands and sooner or later they’ll be stabbing zombies and carving down Tyrants.
As they came down the side staircase from the second floor, Han Yue felt a genuine headache coming on.
That idiot Spencer—why the hell did he have to design a mansion this complicated?
Didn’t he get lost in his own house?
Then Han Yue suddenly noticed a narrow hidden door in the corridor.
The patterns on it blended perfectly into the surrounding wall.
If you weren’t paying close attention, you would never notice it was there at all.
“Jill, looks like there’s a door here,” Han Yue called out.
Jill frowned and pushed it open, only to find a gloomy cemetery outside.
“What exactly is your objective?” Jill asked coldly.
“Why are you trying to lead me here?”
Han Yue immediately cried out in grievance.
“I seriously don’t have any conspiracy going on.
Why is it so hard to be a good person these days?”
In a mansion this creepy, with a stranger of unknown origin appearing inside it, anyone would feel that something was off.
Jill obviously didn’t believe a word he said.
She merely let out a cold little laugh and pointed outside.
“You first.”
Han Yue shrugged.
“Front row it is, then.”
The two of them stepped outside.
Coffins and gravestones were everywhere, and zombies wandered among them.
After dealing with the undead, they found a painting on the back wall depicting a child holding a bow and arrow.
Han Yue had no idea who it was supposed to be.
Beneath it was a stone slab.
When they opened it, a staircase leading underground appeared.
Han Yue still went first.
On the left side were four grotesque stone faces, each eerier than the last, and nearby a furnace burned with roaring flames.
Further inside, a huge coffin hung suspended in midair by four iron chains.
The whole place looked especially sinister.
“My God…
what is this place?” Jill’s face had gone pale.
Inwardly, Han Yue already had a rough guess.
If he wasn’t mistaken, the person here should be George Trevor, the architect who designed this mansion.
After the mansion had been completed, Spencer invited George Trevor and his family over under the pretense of celebrating its completion.
Then he murdered the entire family.
It looked like George Trevor might be inside that coffin.
Han Yue pointed at the four eerie stone faces on the wall.
“I saw a mask earlier.
It looked like it should fit into one of those.
So…
what do you think?
Want to go get it?”
Jill genuinely wanted to reject the suggestion.
But at the same time, she also genuinely wanted to know what was inside the coffin.
After wrestling with it for a while, she still couldn’t make up her mind.
In the end, however, she had even less desire to stay in this place any longer, so she and Han Yue returned to the mansion.
….
The two of them came back inside.
After pushing open one of the rooms, they found an art room.
A statue stood in the center, and on top of it there seemed to be something.
“I’ll get it.”
Seeing Jill about to drag over a table to stand on, Han Yue volunteered and simply climbed up himself to retrieve the item.
When he unrolled the scroll, it turned out to be a map of the mansion’s first floor.
“Now that feels a lot better.
Otherwise I was seriously starting to wonder whether we’d even make it out of here before tomorrow morning.”
Jill rolled her eyes at him.
“Aren’t you the chief researcher here?
Don’t tell me you don’t know the layout.”
Han Yue answered with an innocent look, “Come on, I already told you—I was just transferred here from Chicago.
How was I supposed to know this damn place had such a ridiculous layout?”
Han Yue noticed there was another door behind the statue and walked over to it directly.
Beyond it was a narrow passage filled with paintings and sculptures of all kinds.
But Jill didn’t follow him.
Instead, she picked the lock on a nearby door.
On the other side was a long corridor.
As Jill walked through it, one of the windows beside her was suddenly smashed against from outside by a zombie dog.
Jill’s face instantly turned ugly.
But when she saw that the creature hadn’t broken through, she let out a long breath.
“Damn it…
what are these monsters?” she muttered through clenched teeth.
“I wonder if something happened to Chris.”
After that, Jill kept moving forward.
Although she ran into several zombies along the way, she made it through with a few scares and no real danger.
Just as Jill was feeling pleased after finding a shotgun in one of the rooms, she suddenly realized something was wrong.
The ceiling of the room she had just entered was slowly descending.
Jill immediately turned to leave, only to find that the door she had entered from would not open no matter what she did.
The opposite door was the same.
Jill panicked.
“Damn it…
what do I do?”
Pressing herself into a corner, she was momentarily at a complete loss.
The ceiling continued to lower.
In just a few more seconds, she would likely be crushed into a flat smear of meat.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Jill rushed to the door leading back to the corridor, pounding on it over and over as she shouted anxiously,
“Wesker!
Barry!
Help me!!!”
“Anybody there?!
Please save me!!!”
