He was just a zombie infected with a mutant strain of the Progenitor Virus—he wasn’t even infected with the T-Virus, let alone turned into some proper B.O.W.
A few shotgun blasts later, his entire skull was blown apart.
Jill picked up an emblem from inside the coffin.
“What is this?”
“Probably some kind of trigger for something,” Han Yue answered.
“Ah…
another mechanism.
These damn mechanisms are making my head feel like it’s about to explode,” Jill complained helplessly as she put the emblem away.
“Let’s go.
Let’s see where this emblem can be used.”
With that, the two of them headed back up the stairs.
Relying on his memory, Han Yue fumbled his way along with Jill until they reached an iron door.
There, they found a slot that matched the emblem perfectly.
As soon as they fitted it into place, the iron door beside them opened.
Inside was a small shack.
Han Yue found two battery packs there, and on the other side of the shack there was also a wooden door.
Beyond that wooden door was a deep, shadowy courtyard.
“Be careful.
I’ve got a feeling there might be monsters here, so you need to protect me properly.”
As he said that, Han Yue quietly shifted behind Jill.
Jill looked at him in complete disbelief.
“Don’t look at me like that.
I said the same thing to Rebecca too.
You trained with Delta Force, and now you’re a Raccoon City police officer on top of that, so you should be protecting me even more.”
After saying that, he even gave Jill a little push, signaling for her to take the lead.
Jill squeezed a few words out through gritted teeth.
“You can…”
Then she raised her flashlight and slowly walked forward.
The dense trees all around blocked out the moonlight completely.
It was pitch-black, and as eerie as it could possibly be.
Han Yue remembered very clearly that Lisa’s first appearance was right here.
Back then, all three members of the Trevor family had been injected with a mutant strain of the Progenitor Virus.
But in the end, only Lisa had fused with it successfully.
And that was also the beginning of her true misfortune.
Sometimes, living is far, far crueler than dying.
After fusing with the virus, Lisa gained an overwhelmingly powerful regenerative ability.
Because of that, she was imprisoned for more than ten years inside the Arklay Research Institute, used as an experimental subject, and forced to endure a vast number of inhuman tests.
The mutation caused by the virus also turned her into a monster, leaving her with an extremely hideous appearance.
After absorbing a certain parasite and recovering a small fragment of her sanity, she began hunting the female researchers in the facility, tearing off their faces and pasting them onto her own.
In 1995, Wesker and William Birkin were ordered to dispose of her.
That “disposal operation” lasted a full three days.
In the end, Lisa survived by reducing her life signs to such a faint level that even machines failed to detect them.
From then on, she wandered through the depths of the mansion.

Han Yue and Jill advanced carefully.
Suddenly, Barry’s voice crackled through the radio, confirming Han Yue’s guess.
“Wearing shackles…
monster…”
“Guns don’t work on it…”
“Do NOT get close…
outside the mansion…
forest…”
“Don’t get close!!!”
Maybe the signal was bad.
Barry’s voice was broken and intermittent.
Very soon, the transmission cut out.
Jill frowned.
“A monster wearing shackles?”
Han Yue answered, “It’s George Trevor’s daughter from the diary.
She was injected with a mutant virus and turned into a monster.
And she’s a huge pain to deal with.
If we run into her, be careful and run immediately.”
“How about we just retreat right now?” Jill was obviously a little unnerved.
He patted his chest and said, “No need to be that scared.
If she really shows up, just dive into my arms and I’ll protect you.”
Jill’s mouth twitched.
“…”
Who was it just a moment ago that hid behind her and asked her to do the protecting?
And even called it “a police officer’s duty.”
“Let’s go.
If a place like this exists, then there’s definitely some important item hidden here.”
Half-pushed along by Han Yue and his nonsense, Jill kept moving forward.
Following the fenced path all the way inward, a wooden cabin appeared ahead.
The two of them went inside and searched it, finding a crank.
This thing was basically a mandatory item in the Resident Evil series.
Han Yue was already thinking that the next time he entered an instance, he ought to prepare every tool in advance.
Pliers.
Lockpicks.
A master key.
Cranks.
A jack.
Things like that.
That way, he wouldn’t have to solve puzzles at all—he could just start dismantling everything by force.
Seeing that there were no other useful items, Jill turned and was about to leave the cabin.
But just around the corner outside the door, a monster suddenly appeared.
Its hands were bound in shackles.
Its body was hunched over.
And its face was so obscured that it was impossible to see clearly.
The monster raised its shackled arms and smashed down at Jill.
“Watch out!”
Han Yue yanked Jill aside.
“I told you there was a monster here and you still let your guard down.
That makes the third time I’ve saved you tonight.”
“And look at the skin pasted all over her face—if you hadn’t dodged just now, the next face on her probably would’ve been yours.”
