Lucifer was back in the dungeon, although this time, the person sitting in his chair wasn’t a beautiful half-werewolf, nor did he have any plans to remove the chains wrapping around them.
He shook out his hand as it healed from the punch he had dealt to the werewolf’s sharp jaw.
The scout spat at the Demon King’s feet.
Blood dribbled down his chin.
All the situation did was vindicate the werewolf’s belief that the Devil was as evil as rumors in the supernatural communities said.
“I’m only here because that whore has been spreading around what is not hers to spread but His Highness’s,” the scout spat.
“Those pheromones are spoken for.
What she is doing here is disgraceful to all werewolves.” Lucifer was beginning to see red as his anger grew.
He didn’t want others to witness the way these people treated Adela.
She would have a new life here with a clean slate if she wanted, where there were no preconceived notions.
He would make sure of that.
“Leave us,” Lucifer hissed at his guards.
He knew that Shade remained in the shadows.
It was inevitable.
The two guards who had escorted him retreated to the wall, closing the door behind them firmly.
“I will ask again,” Lucifer began.
“Who gave you permission to shoot a gun in my domain?
You are aware that this is as good as a declaration of war.
Shooting a King is a serious offense.” “You seem fine to—” Lucifer’s left fist cracked against the right side of the werewolf’s jaw once again.
This time, a molar flew from his lips.
The Devil’s long fingers then went through the top of the man’s hair, and he pulled it so he was looking at him again.
“Tell me why you have come to my domain,” Lucifer demanded, venom in his tone.
“Under whose orders?” The werewolf’s breathing was ragged, and he could only see out of one eye.
“I’m legally here… As a messenger,” the werewolf explained.
Lucifer’s patience was wearing thin.
He managed to remain composed.
“What is the message?” Lucifer requested.
“Other than the claim to my life that could start a century’s worth of war that the werewolves have no hope of winning, of course.” “In my coat,” the werewolf uttered through swollen lips, having a difficult time talking.
“The message.” Lucifer’s red eyes narrowed faintly, but he was choosing to believe the werewolf for now.
His life was in the Devil’s hands, after all.
Who would want to be subjected to an eternity in hell?
At least, based on what the rumors about him said.
“Shade,” the Devil whispered.
Almost instantly, the outer edges of the room seemed to darken.
Something flowed from the floor, bringing with it a stack of papers, until Shade’s full form was standing before Lucifer in the shape of a man.
Shade handed off one of the flyers.
Lucifer stepped away from the supposed messenger and his eyes scanned the page.
“Adela Rivers, last seen August 26,” I read.
“Suspected to have been kidnapped by the King of Hell, Lucifer.
Any information ought to be sent to this address.” He turned to the werewolf again.
“This picture doesn’t do her justice.
She’s far more beautiful when she isn’t under the thumb of such savage beasts.” At that, the werewolf attempted to lunge forward.
The chains around him glowed.
It seemed the messenger was trying to shift.
Unafraid, Lucifer stepped towards him and wrapped a hand around his neck.
“I’ll let you go because of the valuable information you have provided,” he decided.
“Now, you get to send a message for me: If I see so much as a shred of hostility sent towards my kingdom in the future, the werewolves will have to answer the demons.
Be prepared.
As you know, our tempers aren’t the best, and you shot their king.” As Lucifer dragged the werewolf away from the chair by his neck, the chains disappeared.
A black pit opened up, and the Demon King threw the thrashing beast into it.
A descending scream followed.
“He will be falling for a while,” Lucifer explained.
“See to it he at least makes it back to the forest in one piece.” “Yes, Your Majesty,” Shade responded.
He disappeared into the pit as well.
It closed after him.
Lucifer pulled out a handkerchief and began to wipe off the blood that had splattered onto his face and fists.
There was someone he needed to speak with.
+ Adela chose to believe that what she heard in the night market would stay as petty gossip due to their undying loyalty towards Lucifer.
How ridiculous that anyone would ever believe someone like Lucifer would have any desire to take someone as ruined as her?
He could have anyone else.
All they had was attraction.
He wouldn’t kidnap her.
At least, that’s what she had convinced herself of.
Lucifer returned to Adela with a flyer in his hand.
He knocked on her door, and she answered in only a moment.
At first, she thought he was only there to update her on the scout, but she was met with Lucifer and a pensive expression on his handsome face.
Not only that, there was a tinge of blood in its usual burnt and woodsy scent.
She was immediately on alert.
To Lucifer’s surprise, Adela’s first question was, “Are you alright?” Of course, it wasn’t normal to be walking around as if it were nothing just after getting shot.
That’s what I figured her question was about.
“I’m perfectly fine,” he assured her.
“I came here because I thought I ought to tell you about this first.” “What is it?” she wondered.
Dread immediately set into Adela’s chest.
She felt sick as she took the paper he had brought with him.
First, she saw her face, then she read the words.
“Wh-Where did this come from?” she asked.
“The scout—well— messenger had a few of these in his pocket,” Lucifer explained.
“I’ve had men confirm that they have been spread through the cities in the area.” He let out a sigh.
“I wanted to keep this contained, but I fear that I have no choice but to respond.
I refuse to allow them to paint you in an unfavorable light.” “Me?” she questioned.
“You are the monster in this story they created.” “I have enough support that I can take care of myself,” he insisted.
“I want to respond—” Adela began to speak, but she was cut off when guards began to rush down the hallway.
“Your Majesty,” the guard with the highest seniority greeted Lucifer with a bow.
“The Werewolf Clan has taken the story to Man’s World.
If you go to your room, you can access the channel yourself.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS QueenFrieza What will the wolfies bring to the table now?
