As the first circle of zombies fell with pierced skulls, more infected surged forward from both ends of the utility passage, snapping frantically at Chu Feng.

Looking at the endless mass of decayed flesh, even Alice and Matt up on the pipe racks felt a cold shiver run down their spines.

Yet Chu Feng stood his ground, his face expressionless and cold.

Now that his power had been fully exposed, there was no longer any need to hold back.

Today, he would cut through as many as it took.

BUZZ!

Chu Feng released his grip once more, sending the blood-soaked dagger levitating back into the air.

ROAR!

A zombie lunged forward, jaw wide open.

Chu Feng merely flicked his index finger.

WHOOSH!

The blade transformed into a streak of silver light, drilling straight through the zombie’s forehead.

Two more rushed up right behind it.

Chu Feng moved his fingers like a conductor guiding an orchestra, sending the blade darting left and right, dropping both corpses in an instant.

ROAR!

ROAR!

The horde surged faster and faster.

Chu Feng’s manual hand gestures couldn’t keep up with the sheer volume, but it didn’t matter.

Wherever his gaze locked, the flying dagger darted.

Zombies came like an overwhelming tide, only to be harvested like wheat before a god of death.

One, two, three, four…

Ten, twenty, thirty…

Chu Feng lost track of how many he had slain.

He simply kept guiding the blade through the endless stream of corpses.

He didn’t even notice the heavy trickle of blood leaking from both his nostrils as his brain pushed his magnetic control far beyond its current limit.

It wasn’t until a tall, blonde figure suddenly stepped into his field of vision that the floating dagger abruptly halted, hovering a fraction of an inch from the woman’s forehead.

“It’s okay…

it’s over,” Alice whispered softly, cold sweat dripping down her temple as she looked at the notched blade floating before her eyes.

“Alice?” Chu Feng blinked, his focus slowly returning.

Looking around, he realized the entire section of the tunnel was quiet, filled only with motionless corpses.

Alice was standing right in front of him.

If he had hesitated for another second, she would have been struck down like the rest.

CLANK!

Chu Feng released his mental grip, and the worn dagger fell onto the blood-slicked concrete floor.

[Ding!

Congratulations to the host!

Achievement “100 Zombie Kills” unlocked.

Point total meets the requirement for Genetic Upgrade.

Proceed with upgrade?] “Upgrade,” Chu Feng confirmed in his mind without hesitation.

[Ding!

Genetic upgrade requires processing time.

Please ensure you are in a secure environment.] “What?!” Before Chu Feng could react to the system’s warning, the genetic code within his cells began violently breaking apart and recombining into a far higher structure.

The sudden, agonizing surge of cellular restructuring was too much for his physical nervous system to bear.

His vision went black, and his consciousness cut out completely.

“Chu Feng!” “Chu Feng!” The panicked cries of Alice, Rain, and Matt were the last things he heard before falling forward into complete darkness.

“What happened to him?” Chad asked, shaking his head in disbelief as he looked down from the pipe rack.

“I don’t know!” Alice called out, catching Chu Feng’s limp body and cradling him in her arms.

“You don’t know?!” Chad muttered nervously, his mind frayed by stress and the bite wound on his boot.

“You saw it!

He just slaughtered every zombie in the tunnel by himself, and then almost drove that knife straight into your head!” “I said I don’t know!” Alice snapped, her voice sharp with worry as she checked Chu Feng’s pulse.

“What do we do now?” Matt asked, swinging down from the pipe rack to join them.

“Whatever happened, he saved all our lives,” Rain said firmly, stepping forward.

“We aren’t leaving him behind.

If we leave him in this tunnel, he’s dead.” She reached out to sling Chu Feng’s arm over her shoulder, but Matt gently stepped in front of her.

“Let me carry him, Rain.

You’re limping.” Rain nodded, stepping back as Matt hoisted Chu Feng onto his back.

Together with Alice, they quickly moved out of the utility duct and back into the main facility corridors.

Unbeknownst to them, a faint red holographic distortion briefly materialized near an overhead camera, watching them exit the pipeline before fading back into the dark.

Fortunately, the rest of their trek went smoothly.

They encountered no major hordes along the secondary service corridors, easily bypassing or putting down a few isolated wanderers.

CLANG!

Rain and Chad pried open an iron access grate at the end of the maintenance shaft and peered out into the quiet hallway beyond.

“Clear,” Chad reported, letting out a heavy sigh of relief.

Alice and Matt helped lift Chu Feng through the grate into the corridor before securing the panel behind them.

They had reached a quiet, sterile laboratory section.

flickering overhead lights cast long shadows down the hallway, creating a tense, eerie atmosphere.

Thump!

As Alice looked around at the pristine glass panels, a sharp burst of memory hit her mind like a physical blow.

The dim hallway in her eyes seemed to briefly overlap with bright, busy memories of the past—researchers in hazmat suits walking back and forth behind sealed glass chambers.

Her gaze locked onto an observation room to her left.

Leaving the group, she walked toward it as if hypnotized.

“Alice?

What is it?” Matt called out, watching her carefully.

Alice didn’t respond, completely absorbed in her recovering memories.

Through the glass, she remembered seeing technicians conducting live viral trials on laboratory rabbits.

A blue solution was injected first, causing violent physical distress, followed immediately by a green solution that stabilized the subject.

“Blue is the virus…

green is the antibody,” Alice muttered to herself.

She turned back to face the hallway.

Rain was standing near her, watching her with a confused, exhausted expression.

“There’s a cure,” Alice said, her eyes lighting up as the full memory clicked into place.

“We aren’t hopeless.

There’s an antiviral serum that neutralizes the T-Virus if injected in time!” “What did you say?” Rain asked, taking a step forward.

“An antiviral serum!

You’re going to be fine!” Alice hurried into the adjacent storage lab, frantically opening cold-storage units and equipment drawers.

Rain and Chad followed close behind, renewed hope flashing in their eyes, while Matt carried the unconscious Chu Feng into the room.

Alice searched cabinet after cabinet, but every slot was empty.

“No, no, no…

Where is it?!” Alice’s voice filled with panic as she slammed a drawer shut.

“I remember putting it right here!” The antiviral serum that should have been secured in the vault was completely gone.

Rain let out a tired breath, her vision becoming increasingly blurry as the infection progressed in her bloodstream.

She sank down onto a nearby steel stool, leaning her head against the wall.

“You probably just remembered it wrong, Alice…”
