Words couldn’t describe the betrayal I felt as I watched Jenna in disbelief.Full novel: REWRITING FATE: There is no such thing as soulmates — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Slowly, I leaned back in shock as his words from earlier over the phone call began to flood my mind.

~

“She’s the daughter of The Hart’s Foundation.”

“She told me she can buy my father’s company, his shares and everything.”

~

My eyes widened at that part and I looked at Jenna in disbelief just to see her smiling like she knew what was going through my mind.

But of all things that came back to my mind of the conversation Carl and I had this morning, it was of me asking,

“What did she ask for in return?”

And his response to that was a simple but sharp, “You.”

You

YOU!

YOU!!!

My brain screamed and it felt like I suddenly snapped out of my trance state as rage engulfed me.

“Unlock the doors and get in the back seat,” I coldly ordered her and she smiled and unlocked the doors.

But instead of stepping out, she passed through the tiny opening in-between the front chairs as she excitedly struggled her way to the back but I was too pissed to find it funny.

The driver quickly opened the door, got in and started the engine.

“Change of route.

Take me to Carl’z Empire?” I instructed him and he responded with, “Noted sir,” and drove.

“What now?

Do you plan on barging into Carl’s company while looking like a wife who has just been cheated on?” She mocked me and I faced her.

The face she put on was very serious like she was greatly concerned but deep down I knew she was enjoying all of this.

“I hate you.” I declared my deepest distaste for her but instead of taking offense, she smiled and said, “Give it time, my darling Levi, it will change to I love you.”

I was grinning from ear to ear as I stood by my glass wall in my office while staring down at the city.

I couldn’t believe I now had full control over everything just by a single signature with nothing much to offer.

My father had gone nuts in anger when he got notified of me having a new investor who is none other than Jenna.

I thought she was blushing until she actually showed me what she could do after we undid the whole contract yesterday.

~

“You are clearly in need of a huge backup.

Your stand in this company is like standing on thin ice since your father still has his tentacles around you.

So, why don’t we switch things.

Instead of going by their rules by marrying someone for their favor, why don’t I give you that favor.” Jenna bargained.

For a moment I wanted to wave her off but I knew I needed that money, power and authority to expand and have a strong stance.

Levi knew that as well.

His father belongs to one of the board members supporting my company and he was heavily against Levi and I being together.

He wanted Levi to marry a woman just like my parents.

“If you can buy all the shares from the board members in a few hours and hand them to me, then I shall reconsider changing the proposal.” I put her to the test and her smile knew no bounds.

“Call an urgent meeting with the board members,” she instructed and I narrowed my eyes on her but took my phone and made a call…

~

The door to my office suddenly barged open and I snapped out of my thoughts as I turned just to find an annoyed Levi and the smile instantly slipped off my lips.

“Levi,” I softly called his name.

“What contract did you and Jenna sign?” He carefully asked while trying to hold his patience.

I bit the inside of my lower lip and walked to the middle of the room to where he was standing.

“Let’s sit down an-”

“No,” he hissed at me and I sighed heavily as I massage the space between my eyebrows.

“Fine.

Let’s talk standing.” I finally agreed and looked him in the eyes.

“I signed a business contract.”

“What was it about?” He suspiciously asked but was trying to hold himself.

“Jenna spoke with the board members and convinced them to sell their shares to her, except your father.

Do you know what he requested before he could sell his shares?” I asked and his eyes hardened, so I said it as it was.

“He requested for her to be married to you since she is the daughter of the famous ‘Hart’s Foundation’ and she happily agreed to it and it was signed in an agreement. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

If she doesn’t get you to marry her within a month, he won’t sell his shares.

He is the only one who hasn’t sold his shares, Levi.”

Once that was said, his anger seemed to calm down a bit but his next question was, “What agreement did you sign with Jenna?”

And it was at that very moment that Jenna boldly walked into my office and went to sit on one of the chairs without being invited.

But then again, I couldn’t oust her out after what she did.

“It was an agreement where she would get all their shares and hand them to me,” I revealed.

“And?” Levi firmly demanded.

“I will let her have you without interrupting your union.”

He closed his eyes and slowly turned his head to the side to show how much it affected him.

I knew it would hurt him but this was a win-win mission.

He is gay and Jenna is straight, so nothing can go on between them no matter how hard she tries.

There is a high chance that much later she will get exhausted and leave him.

I knew what I was doing.

I wasn’t blindly letting him go, it was strategic and we would both benefit heavily from it.

I wanted him to figure that out without me having to tell him.

I couldn’t say that when Jenna was here, listening.

When he finally opened his eyes and faced me, his words were, “If there’s anything I hate the most, it is being betrayed.

Why would you make such an agreement behind my back?

Who gave you that right?” He angrily asked but his voice wasn’t raised.

“Your father,” I answered and he gave a dark chuckle and took a defeated step away from me and then another.

His eyes were locked on me as hot tears clouded them and his laugh was heartwrenching and I would be lying if I said it didn’t hurt me but I had to do anything to gain full control of my business.

But when he was a few steps away, he paused and stopped chuckling as he suddenly became deadly serious and he looked at Jenna with those slightly raw red tear-filled eyes before looking back at me again.

And his last words were, “I’m done,” then he turned and marched out of my office.

I closed my eyes when I felt the heavy ache in my chest but I restrained myself from going after him.

When I opened my eyes, I looked at where Jenna was sitting and said, “Good luck wooing him.”

She really needs that
