Chapter 18-Serena Logan Mervick.

Rise Of The Godly Manipulators.

Serena Logan Mervick, previously known as Serena Hamilian before her marriage, was born directly into one of the most powerful families in Veridiania within the city of Metrox. She was born with everything one can dream of—a powerful family, good looks, excellent intelligence, great aptitude towards martial arts, and more.

From all angles, she looked perfect, and to Serena, the world looked to be in easy mode. Barely anyone dared to disrespect her within the mortal world, leaving aside the other side. Money, power, and status were just playthings to her, and above all, she came to love doing business.

Handling and controlling people and money were things she found fun. Even then, at moments when she felt the world was too boring or just a grey old thing, she is and always will be perfect. But something can't be perfect without imperfection, can it?

And the imperfection of Serena is Amoreligia, her very disease or problem being the centre point within Serena—the one imperfection within her perfection. She was diagnosed with it at a later age, and by that time, she had already found her obsession—it being a boy.

Within all her status and power, only a few her age could match up to it, and one such person was Logan Gorgan Mervick. Serena met Logan at the young tender age of 3, and the two of them actually first got off on the wrong foot. The thing between the two of them actually had grown from rivalry—the rivalry truly born from the engagement that was kept between them at a young age.

Being prideful, the two of them refused to bend to another. Logan, himself being another sharp little boy, and the two of them did not first like each other. And as they grew, their talents too started to bloom—their beauty and intellect being the ones being used against each other, as one tried to one-up the other. The two of them also tried to see who would be the best at school and more.

And it's from this rivalry that Logan later turned into Serena's obsession. No, she knew long before that Logan had become her obsession. And within the life she would see in this world, Logan seemed like the man she wouldn't mind having with her for the rest of her life. And thus, the rivalry waned away with her opening up the path for Logan, she herself not minding losing if she could see him smile.

And it's this action of hers that led to Logan truly falling for her, too. Her nature of never being able to see the person she loves fall or hurt, moving his heart. Thus, the two engaged couple truly fell for each other, Logan's affection being love, while Serena also loved him, though it was fully contaminated by a horror-filled obsession.

By the time Logan found out about it, it was too late for him. Thus, he came to somehow accept the life in front of him, and when Serena knew he accepted her, albeit reluctantly, she was over the moon. She knew her sense of attachment and obsession wasn't something normal, and no normal man or any man would be able to easily accept it, much less a man like Logan.

To Serena, just the thought of another woman with Logan made her mind crack and fall, filling her with so much hate and killing intent that at times it would make Logan tremble in fear. In higher society, having two or more wives along with several lovers is completely normal. It's more abnormal to just be focused on one woman.

In fact, Serena's father himself has 5 wives and several other lovers, not to mention the siblings that Serena has. It's weirder with Helman Mervick, who just sticks to a single wife, though in his case, his wife will break the floor with everyone else.

The act of polygamy within the powerful is a common practice in Veridiania, thus it made Serena over the moon with Logan accepting her sides. His acceptance only made her love him more and more. Thus, the life of Serena became perfect—the world being no longer boring with her obsession. Heck, the day she became aware of her lovely obsession, the world only turned out to look brighter. But she also understood that this happiness of hers is a double-edged sword.

Her sharp mind, along with the several talks of the danger coming to those who deal with the dangerous obsession, can get her obsession lost—the awakening of different personalities, the loss of sanity, falling into depravity are all possible things with a high chance of happening.

But Serena chose to accept that and live. And from then on, only happiness graced the life of Serena. The arrival of her first child, a son, aroused feelings in her she never knew she could ever have. Her level of love and care for her son Lex exceeded that of Logan, one she never knew could reach.

They say a son is their mother's first true love, while a mother is a son's true first love, and all that stayed true for Serena.

She could still remember his little hand reaching towards her as she held Lex in her hands. The amount of maternal love and care that filled her heart was so much that she almost felt dizzy. She had always thought in her life that if anything came to hurt Logan, she would jump at it to stop it.

But the moment she held her son in her hand, she knew what choice it would be if things ever came to a choice. That's how much her love overflowed, and thus the world became much brighter than Serena ever hoped it would be.

The world no longer looked grey to her, and while things were boring to her in life, with Logan and Lex by her, no moments ever turned boring with them. Especially with her little angel Lex in the first year of his life, she spent all the time with Lex and all the first moments he too, she made sure to be by his side in support.

To Serena, she never thought this situation would go away, that this happiness of love and care she has will ever fade, and truly her thought stayed true as she gave birth to another set of her children, the twins Lily and Rose—they being another bundle of joy in her life, one she could get enough of.

She loves them with all her heart, and there isn't anything she wouldn't do to protect her children. Thus, life continued, with all three of her children and Logan with her; there is nothing more she could ask.

Her love grew, along with her obsession. As time passed, she learned to embrace her obsession, to make it her strength, to grow her obsession with her control, and Serena could see that her growing obsession kept freaking out Logan at times, and it hurt her a bit, but she was still happy to have him by her side always.

Serena thought that nothing could ever go wrong with her life until everything did, until she herself destroyed everything to the bitter end.

Serena knew Logan better than anyone else in the world, her obsession being the certificate of it. Others might not be able to see his lies or his true expressions, but she can see through him. And that's why when certain actions and his words didn't match, she herself looked through things thoroughly—very thoroughly. And what she found broke her heart into pieces that can't even be counted.

She found out about Logan's lover, and that was all it took to fully destroy Serena. The timeline of the affair broke her heart in ways she can't begin to imagine—her obsession filled her heart with so much hate that, for the first time, all she saw in the world was red.

And she blamed it all on Aria, that wretched woman who seduced her husband and filled herself with all of Logan's love. Serena couldn't see how such a woman could have kept the love of Logan, such a well and powerful-minded man.

She had nothing going for her, just a normal woman running a flower shop. She wasn't intelligent, nor was she extremely beautiful. Serena couldn't find out what the woman had that made her take her husband from him. And what fully broke Serena's heart was when she saw Logan spend time with Aria.

That gentle smile on his face, that shy glint in his eyes, the laughter from his mouth, and the relaxation he had when he hugged Aria—all of them were things she had never seen from Logan when he was with her. Serena knew Logan loved her, but he never showed any of those expressions when he was with her.

And that was more than enough to show Serena who Logan loved more between her and Aria. And that day, her heart broke into shackles.
