Hours turned into days of watching tutorial videos on Emily’s tablet, and the days became a week.

Jordan found it terribly hard to grab the concept of the cube, especially since, the cube seemed to be unsolvable.

He tried a few algorithms he was able to understand, but nothing worked, it was like the cube changed patterns whenever he was so close, but it can’t be.Full novel: Rubik’s Adventure — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was just an ordinary cube.

Emily, on the other hand, was bored beyond measure.

She missed the times she could endlessly talk and chatter away with her best friend raptly listened.

He spent every minute of the day, focused on a new video on how to solve the annoying cubic toy!

She would ramble on to the air since no one was there to listen.

“I don’t think Jordie wants to play with me anymore” she huffed into thin air, purposely saying it out loud.

Loud enough for Jordan to hopefully hear her and apologize for not being a good friend.

“He’s always on that stupid cube!

I don’t think it’s working.

It’s never worked!

I don’t know why he likes it so much” she rambled on.

She took a quick glance at Jordan, who didn’t seem to hear her, his hair slightly out of place, and his eyes intently glued to the screen.

She pouted and folded her arms across her chest as she lay on the garage floor, sulking over her failed plan.

A few hours later, she heard a loud cry, “Emily!” Emily rubbed her eyes tiredly.

She had fallen asleep on the floor.

“I did it!

I really did it!

Look!” Jordan cried aloud with a smile wider than ever plastered on his face, his face flushed pink from joy, and the cube held out for Emily to see.

Emily blinked as she took a long drowsy look at the cube.

Only one side has been solved, but Jordan was happy.

It was the white side Jordan had solved, and he looked like he could burst out in tears of joy.

It took him a week, which Emily felt like it was forever, but looking at how happy he was now, she decided she could indeed put all of the chaos and loneliness behind her.

She smiled too, and Jordan embraced her in an instant, rushing out so many words from his mouth in babbles “Thank you, thank you, Thank you!

I can’t believe I did it!” Jordan pulled away and looked at the cube in his hands once again like it was the most precious thing in the world in this moment.

Emily giggled and lightly punched his arm, “I knew you could do it!

You’re the smartest kid I know!” Jordan blushed and nervously turned the sides of the cube, “T-Thank you.

You’re…

you’re a very good person, Emily” Jordan turned to look Emily in the eye, to prove that he really meant what he said, “I’m sorry you got bored because of me, and I took your tablet, I…” Jordan’s breath hitched and he sighed “You’re a really good friend” Emily felt blood rush to her cheeks, and she felt like she could cry at that, Jordan hugged her again and she returned the hug, squeezing him like he was going to leave if she let him go.

“You’re a good friend too, Jordie.

My best friend” she whispered.

Jordan giggled and the two sat in silence.

“Wanna see how I did it?” Asked Jordan.

Emily wasn’t as much interested, but she agreed nonetheless.

“Okay, so for the white, we need something called ‘The Daisy’…” “I like Daisy.

She kicks alien butt with Piper!” “Not that Daisy.

The flower Daisy” “Oh…

my bad” The children’s laughter was finally heard again after seven long days of silence and boredom.

And the mystery of the Rubik’s cube, was a step closer to being unraveled.
