Lucas’s words frightened Eve Sherman.

Just a few days ago, Stellan Sutton was buying gifts for his wife on a business trip.

“Wasn’t everything fine a few days ago?

Did things change after I made that suggestion the other day?”

Lucas tilted his head and thought for a moment, “No way, your idea didn’t have any issues.

Don’t overthink it, something must’ve happened that I don’t know about.”

“…” Eve Sherman opened her mouth but couldn’t say a word.

If it’s not because of that, could it be due to some random rumors in the company?

Anyway, it’s somehow related to her.

Her mind was restless all morning.

By noon, she planned to take a nap, but Skye Sherman called, saying Grandma Sherman was awake and looking for her.

Eve Sherman rushed to the hospital without eating.

Grandma Sherman lay on the hospital bed, looking in poor spirits, and just seeing her made Eve feel heartache.

“Grandma…”

She called softly, her voice hoarse and her eyes slightly stinging.

Grandma Sherman reached out to her, “My granddaughter…”

She went up and tightly held Grandma’s hand against her cheek, “Grandma, you finally woke up, scared me to death.”

Mrs.

Sherman sighed and looked at her directly, “Why are you alone?

Where’s your husband?

When … will I be able to see him so I can be at ease?”

Mrs.

Sherman spoke slowly, but Eve couldn’t think of a good excuse.

“Grandma, focus on getting better first.

Once you’re well, I’ll bring him to see you.”

Grandma Sherman was a little unhappy, “Isn’t he supposed to come see me one last time?”

Luckily, Grandma Sherman’s medicine took effect, and after holding Eve’s hand and questioning for a while, she couldn’t resist the medication and fell into a drowsy sleep.

Eve sighed and left the ward.

Skye Sherman was waiting for her outside.

“Eve, be honest with me…”

Skye looked at her and asked softly, “Is there something wrong between you and your husband?

Otherwise, such a big thing happened, even if he were completely rude, he should have come to see the elderly, right?”

Eve dropped her gaze, silent.

She didn’t speak, and Skye grew more anxious, “Eve, say something!

Is he bullying you?

I’ll go find him!”

“No, no.” Eve quickly grabbed him, “There’s another reason…”

“What reason?!”

Eve paused, sighed almost imperceptibly, hesitated for a moment, and then said, “Dad, it’s like this.

These past few days, we’ve already discussed getting divorced.”

“Divorce?!”

Skye indeed exploded, his eyes wide in disbelief, “Wasn’t everything fine before?

How did it suddenly come to divorce?!

Did he do something to hurt you?!”

“I know it’s hard for you to accept right away, but honestly, there’s no real connection or feelings between us.

I know you’ll support me in the divorce, but as for Grandma, I really don’t know how to handle it…”

Eve lowered her eyelashes, sighing softly.

“Eve Sherman?”

As father and daughter fell into silence, a familiar voice sounded.

Feeling a chill on her back, Eve instinctively turned and met Rory Shaw’s smiling eyes.

“Didn’t expect to meet you in the hospital.”

Rory Shaw’s gaze lingered on Eve for a moment, then settled on Skye.

“Aren’t you supposed to be driving for my dad, but instead you’re here busy with a family reunion?”

Eve frowned, gesturing for Skye to go back into the ward.

Even though Rory Shaw was the fake daughter, the Shaws adored her, treating her like their own, and Skye wanted to keep his job and dared not offend this young miss.

Skye carefully glanced at Rory, explaining, “Miss, my family is sick, so I requested leave for a couple of days to care for them.”

Rory looked down at her delicate manicure, raised an eyebrow, “What does that have to do with me?

I’m heading back now, you drive me.”

Upon hearing this, Eve’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly as she stepped forward, “Miss Shaw, your prestige should be exerted at the Shaw Family, no one here will spoil you!”

Rory crossed her arms and laughed arrogantly, “Is that so?

Then shall we see?”

She said as she took out her phone to call Mrs.

Shaw, “Seems like you’ve forgotten the lesson from two years ago, let me help you recall?”
