The CEO Zombie saw Jiang Jiming holding Wen Chi’s hand and immediately let go of Gu Wang, who had been dragged on the ground, then lunged toward Jiang Jiming.

Wen Chi quickly moved aside, avoiding interfering with the fight,

and also dragged the unmoving Gu Wang off the battlefield.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The two clashed intensely. Wen Chi could not tell who had the upper hand or who was falling behind.

She only knew that the zombie was a Level Five, while Jiang Jiming’s level at this moment was unclear.

However, the zombie seemed to lose patience. Veins bulged across its body, and each strike aimed at Jiang Jiming’s vital spots.

Jiang Jiming looked somewhat overwhelmed, dodging at every turn.

Wen Chi grew anxious, her heart racing uncontrollably.

Just as Jiang Jiming misstepped in evasion, the CEO Zombie’s claws were about to pierce his chest.

In a moment of panic, Wen Chi shouted the zombie’s name:

“Liang Songnian!”

The zombie hesitated for a second and looked in Wen Chi’s direction.

It was that single second that allowed Jiang Jiming to evade the attack, pull a knife from his space, and decapitate it.

Wen Chi stared at the separated corpse of Liang Songnian, still in shock.

Jiang Jiming immediately ran over and held Wen Chi’s trembling body.

Wenwen was terrified, wondering if she had gone too far just now.

Wen Chi lowered her eyes, letting Jiang Jiming hold her. Liang Songnian’s gaze remained fixed on her even after death.

Wen Chi could not speak. That look contained so much—

Questions, comfort,

Confusion, and even a sense of relief.

Her chest tightened. She knew that if she hadn’t shouted his name, maybe he wouldn’t have died.

She remembered him sitting in the boss chair, looking at documents,

and the loneliness reflected in his eyes.

Wen Chi let out broken sobs from her throat, her shoulders heaving with convulsive shakes.

She muttered:

“I’m sorry….”

Jiang Jiming, holding Wen Chi tightly, felt the slight push against him from her shoulders.

Looking at her crying, he lifted his hand and gently wiped her tears away.

The icy tears burned like molten lava, searing his entire body. His throat was dry; he could barely speak.

Had he known it would be like this, he wouldn’t have let Wenwen worry and drag that zombie along.

He deserved to die; he had been utterly vile.

His Wenwen was too kind—she was feeling guilty.

Jiang Jiming quickly spoke to comfort her:

“Wenwen, this isn’t your fault. If he hadn’t died, it could have been a child like Dou Dou,

or maybe other surviving humans.

So this isn’t your fault.”

Wen Chi cried a while longer, then lifted her head, looking at Liang Songnian’s corpse on the ground, and closed her eyes.

The strong devour the weak; the fittest survive.

She understood this truth.

The apocalypse was like this—

Killing, blood, competition, and conflict defined the world now.

Wen Chi wiped the tears from her face.

A moment later, loud footsteps approached.

“Little Chi!”

“A-Chi!”

“A-Chi, sister!”

“Leader!”

It was Jiang Yi and her group, coming to find them.

Xu Qiaofeng and his squad had also arrived.

The people who had followed Jiang Jiming were there too.

Jiang Yi, carrying Dou Dou, immediately ran to Wen Chi. After their escape, they had gone to find Jiang Jiming.

As soon as she finished speaking, they saw Jiang Jiming carrying Wen Chi, disappearing from sight.

Jiang Yi circled Wen Chi once before finally relaxing.

Shen Xi immediately spotted Gu Wang on the ground. They had gotten separated from her squad when they arrived, and unexpectedly found him here.

After waking him, Shen Xi looked at the zombie corpse on the ground.

The zombie tide outside had clearly been summoned by him. Being able to command other zombies meant this one was at least Level Three.

That he, with two followers, could take it down alone showed his strength.

He might even be stronger than Xu Qiaofeng.

Definitely a talent worth recruiting.

“This gentleman is amazing—taking down a zombie alone. May I ask his name and which base he belongs to?”

Shen Xi put on her signature smile and asked.

But no one answered for a long time.

“Hurry, the zombie tide is coming.”

“It’s already outside.”

Wen Chi sensed the approaching horde and looked toward the entrance. She immediately spoke to Jiang Jiming.

He nodded and gave a look to Chi Ye.

Then he scooped up Wen Chi horizontally, had her hug him tightly, and tied them both with rope.

They jumped out of the floor-to-ceiling window.

Chi Ye immediately understood and, after Jiang Jiming brought Wen Chi down, removed the zombie’s Crystal Core. He then handed one of the ropes to Jiang Yi.

“Miss Jiang, dare or not?”

“How could I not?”

Jiang Yi tied the rope around her waist. Just as she was about to imitate Jiang Jiming and hold Dou Dou while jumping,

she saw Chi Ye had already taken Dou Dou and jumped down.

The others followed suit.

Only the Bright Light Squad remained.

Xu Qiaofeng, seeing everything that had happened, understood that leaving through the front was impossible; only the windows were an option.

Thinking of Little Chi hugging Jiang Jiming so expertly, his chest ached.

But Jiang Jiming was stronger, able to protect Little Chi better. What right did he have to compete?

Shen Xi took ropes from her space and distributed them to the others.

Seeing Xu Qiaofeng, she said, “Get stronger. Only then will what you want come true.”

Xu Qiaofeng took the rope and nodded.

Shen Xi was right—in this apocalypse, only the strong could choose.

—(?′?‵?)—

After Wen Chi and the others reached safety, they killed a few zombies around the car and immediately got in.

Because it was a motorhome with many seats, Jiang Yi and Dou Dou naturally joined them.

“Hey! Our car!”

Jiang Yi suddenly remembered they still had their vehicle.

“Don’t worry. The Leader already stored it in space.”

Chi Ye reassured her.

Jiang Yi finally relaxed; the car contained all the supplies they had painstakingly gathered.

“Leader, this zombie was a Level Five! Its Crystal Core is beautiful!”

Chi Ye cleaned the Crystal Core and displayed it for everyone.

Its pink crystal radiated light, seemingly illuminating the entire motorhome, attracting everyone’s attention.

Jiang Jiming noticed Wen Chi’s curious gaze and handed the Crystal Core from Chi Ye to her.

“For me?”

Wen Chi asked in surprise.

Jiang Jiming ruffled the little tuft of hair sticking up on her head, smiled, and nodded.
