Wen Chi’s eyes looked even more pitiful from just having cried,

like a little rabbit that hadn’t gotten its favorite carrot.

She stared at the pink Crystal Core before her, and for some reason, she always felt it gave off the scent of strawberry cake.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She lowered her head and picked it up, tentatively trying to take a bite.

She wanted to see if it really tasted like strawberry cake.

The moment her teeth touched it, the texture was off—not hard, but soft and chewy, like real strawberry cake.

Jiang Jiming saw her move and immediately pinched her cheek, checking her teeth to make sure they were okay.

When he opened her mouth, all he saw were perfectly intact teeth, a few unusually sharp, and a small, pink tongue lying peacefully.

Jiang Jiming’s gaze darkened. He released her cheek but couldn’t help lingering on the soft touch he had just felt.

He instinctively grabbed a nearby jacket and draped it over himself.

So cute… so kissable.

The others, seeing Wen Chi eat the Crystal Core raw, gaped in shock.

Jiang Yi called out worriedly:

“A-Chi, spit it out!”

“You can’t eat it raw!”

Chi Ye chimed in from the side:

“Sister-in-law, this Crystal Core is for absorption, not for eating raw.”

She even took out a white Crystal Core to demonstrate.

A-Lou didn’t speak but frowned at the scene.

Seeing their reactions, Wen Chi, amidst their astonished gazes, popped the rest of the pink Crystal Core into her mouth.

“No, it tastes like strawberry cake. It’s not hard, very soft,” she explained earnestly.

Chi Ye, seeing her so serious, couldn’t resist and tried to bite a white Crystal Core himself.

Result: he lost a tooth.

Clearly, the person the Leader liked was not ordinary.

His teeth were that strong.

Chi Ye cupped his fallen tooth in pain, complaining:

“Sister-in-law, your teeth must be made of steel! How could you bite something so hard!”

“Sister-in-law?”

Wen Chi noticed the title and asked in confusion, then glanced at Jiang Jiming, sitting to her right.

Jiang Jiming looked at Chi Ye, conveying a clear message:

“You explain, and if you don’t explain well… you’re dead.”

Chi Ye’s skin prickled, and he quickly added:

“Uh… I have a bad habit of calling people ‘Sister-in-law’ casually.

A-Lou can vouch for me.”

A-Lou reluctantly nodded to avoid more trouble later.

Jiang Yi looked at Chi Ye’s lame excuse speechlessly.

Wen Chi didn’t comment further—after all, this was X Organization.

Yet something seemed different from what she had heard on the radio.

Chi Ye didn’t seem like someone capable of silently killing so many.

Moreover, he had actively helped Dou Dou and Jiang Yi escape the building earlier.

A-Lou, although quiet and cold in demeanor, didn’t seem like a ruthless killer either.

The first person hadn’t interacted much but also looked honest.

“I see you all get along very well. Have you been traveling together for a long time?”

Wen Chi asked Chi Ye cautiously.

“Of course! We’ve grown up together as good buddies!”

Chi Ye said proudly, patting the man driving in front and then patting A-Lou beside him.

But when she reached Jiang Jiming, seeing his eyes, she immediately withdrew her hand.

A-Lou, watching Chi Ye get flustered, couldn’t help curling the corners of his mouth.

Wen Chi thought over Chi Ye’s words, her mind spinning wildly.

But in the end, she came up with nothing.

She overworked herself thinking and even fainted.

Clearly, thinking wasn’t her forte—lying down like a salted fish was.

Jiang Jiming noticed Wen Chi immediately and checked on her.

The others’ eyes followed, for this was the Leader’s cherished one. If anything happened, the Leader would make them all pay.

They knew how crazy their Leader could be.

“What’s wrong, A-Chi?”

Jiang Yi asked, worried.

After checking her over, Jiang Jiming lifted Wen Chi onto his lap and said:

“She’s fine. She just ate the Crystal Core and is digesting its energy.

Probably awakening her ability.”

He explained cheerfully while holding the girl he cared for.

“Leader, what ability do you think Sister-in-law will awaken?”

Chi Ye had never heard of someone awakening powers by eating a Crystal Core. Perhaps no one had ever eaten one before.

No wonder his Sister-in-law was extraordinary. Her teeth were that strong.

Even now, Chi Ye didn’t doubt Wen Chi’s identity—her appearance was too deceptive.

“No idea. Probably something related to that zombie.”

“That zombie had an ability?”

Jiang Jiming nodded, then brushed Wen Chi’s bangs away from her eyes.

“Wow, zombies can have abilities too? Then this must be the strongest, highest-level zombie the Leader has defeated so far.”

Chi Ye admired Jiang Jiming, speaking excitedly.

“It wasn’t me—it was Wenwen who defeated him.

Wenwen is the strongest.”

Jiang Jiming laughed, pinching Wen Chi’s cheek as he spoke.

Chi Ye looked at his obsessed Leader and didn’t know whether to pity Wen Chi or him.

—(?′?‵?)—

The car soon reached its destination. When Jiang Yi saw where they were heading, it felt familiar.

The car drove to the villa they had stayed in last night.

“We’re here.”

A-Lou opened the door and gestured for Jiang Yi to get out.

Jiang Yi tried to take the fainted Wen Chi from Jiang Jiming’s arms, but a single glance from him made her retract her hands.

Still, Jiang Yi, truly treating Wen Chi as her best friend, didn’t back down. She said:

“Uncle Xi, why don’t you let me take A-Chi? There are many of her things in this villa; it would be more convenient.”

Jiang Jiming thought for a moment, then said:

“We’ll go together.”

They got out of the car and entered the villa.

Chi Ye immediately understood Jiang Jiming’s intention and smiled, wrapping his arm around A-Lou:

“Do you think our Leader is marrying in?”

“Don’t know.”

“Shut up and do your work.”

A-Lou shook off Chi Ye’s hand and walked away.

“Boring.”

Chi Ye then looked at Jiang Yi, still standing there, and teased:

“Don’t even think about it. Whatever our Leader wants, he always gets.

By the way, you called our Leader ‘Uncle Xi’ just now—what does that mean? Are you from the Jiang family?”

Chi Ye was intrigued by Jiang Yi. Though she looked like a delicate young lady, she had a strong, unyielding spirit, and a fierce streak.

Researching her past, Chi Ye learned she was someone who dared to love and hate.

Very interesting~

“Yes, my name is Jiang Yi, daughter of the Jiang family Jiang Hu.”
