Seeing the Pompadour Zombie following behind her, Wen Chi suddenly had an idea.

She cautiously smiled, slowly approached it, and said, “Big Brother, can I ask you for a favor?”

At first, Wen Chi did not expect it to understand her.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But to her surprise—

It actually responded.

“Grr~!”

As if afraid Wen Chi would not understand, the Pompadour Zombie even nodded vigorously.

That nod was no small matter—a large chunk of flesh fell off its face, creating an oddly comical scene.

“You’d better stop nodding. I’m afraid soon I’ll only be able to see your bones.”

The zombie seemed to understand her again and blinked at her in confirmation.

Now Wen Chi was certain—this Pompadour Zombie could truly understand her.

To confirm it, Wen Chi even spoke to other zombies, and the result was the same—they could understand her too.

Wen Chi looked at the zombies filling the entire building as if she were looking at her own army.

If there were a handsome man standing beside her right now, she would definitely say to him:

“Look! This is the empire I’ve conquered for you!”

“These are all my subjects!”

Ever since discovering this ability, Wen Chi had practically become lazy and directly ordered zombies to deliver things to her door.

In the apocalyptic world, being able to live so freely—with exclusive delivery attendants—

Without worrying about running into humans—

It was simply perfect!

Wen Chi was very satisfied with her current life.

A life like a pampered freeloader.

A month after the apocalypse began, water and electricity had completely shut down across the country.

People fell into extreme panic, and with rescue still nowhere in sight,

those hiding at home, now without food and water, began going out to search for supplies.

But a place like Commercial Street, with its massive former crowds, was not people’s first choice.

Even though it was rich in resources.

So Wen Chi, who had been lying in the hotel for over a month, spent her days either playing house with the hotel zombies,

or dressing them up like dolls,

or lying on the large bed reading the novels they had brought her.

That morning, after finishing the novels delivered a few days ago, Wen Chi suddenly felt extremely bored.

She wanted to go out and walk around—otherwise, she felt like her limbs would start to atrophy.

So Wen Chi put on a carefully chosen little dress and walked out of the hotel.

But the moment she stepped outside, she saw all the zombies on the street rushing in one direction.

They eventually gathered in front of a nearby supermarket.

Humans were naturally drawn to excitement, so Wen Chi quietly blended into the crowd,

hiding in the shadows to see what was happening ahead.

She saw a man surrounded by zombies, yet he stood still, unmoving, calmly observing them.

From a distance, Wen Chi could only make out his tall, upright figure and excellent physique—

broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs,

and at least 1.9 meters tall.

Wen Chi thought to herself—what unlucky but handsome guy had wandered into this commercial district?

Just as she was hesitating whether to save him—

She saw the man wave his right hand.

Black-purple lightning burst from his palm, instantly knocking down a large number of nearby zombies.

Wen Chi watched the scene unfold. If she remembered correctly, this was what people in her previous life called an Ability User.

So powerful?!

Even though Wen Chi had hidden at home in her previous life, she had still learned a lot through the internet—like how some people developed high fevers and, upon waking, either became zombies or Ability Users.

But back then, Wen Chi had not envied them at all—her mind had only been filled with food.

Although the man’s ability was strong,

the zombies here were like endless bowls of rice noodles—no matter how much you consumed, more kept coming.

More and more zombies surged forward.

Wen Chi even saw the hotel zombies break out and rush toward the scene.

But these zombies were no match for the man—they were like moths flying into a flame.

Watching the zombies she had lived with day and night, Wen Chi had already come to treat them as friends.

She could not bear to watch them die like this.

So she stepped forward and ran toward the man.

In Jiang Jiming’s eyes,

a stunningly beautiful girl in a short dress ran toward him.

In that moment,

his long-silent heart

was suddenly filled with bright sunlight.

He knew it—

She was meant to be his.

She had come for him.

The surrounding zombies seemed to deliberately make way for the girl, forcibly opening a path.

Yet they still refused to give up their desire to devour the delicious human before them.

Wen Chi was not particularly fast, but the zombies were surprisingly considerate.

They all stepped aside,

thinking that Wen Chi also wanted a taste of this “delicacy.”

But when Wen Chi reached the man, before she could even see his face clearly,

she grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the hotel where she lived.

The man obediently followed behind her, matching her pace.

Finally, they reached the hotel. The zombies did not follow.

Wen Chi brought him into her room.

Then she leaned against the door, panting as she slowly sat down, still unconsciously holding the man’s calloused hand.

Jiang Jiming sat behind the door with her, watching her flushed cheeks from running,

which contrasted sharply with her pale skin.

And as she panted, her lips parted slightly, revealing glimpses of her soft red tongue.

Jiang Jiming gazed at her with darkened eyes, his grip on her hand tightening.

He wanted to kiss her. What should he do?

But he could not be too obvious—he had to restrain himself.

He might scare her.

He wanted her to belong to him completely.

But Wen Chi knew nothing of this. She was still a bit dazed.

It seemed that after a month of laziness, she had really slacked off—she was exhausted from just this short run.

But she could not be blamed—she had never even passed the 800-meter run in her physical exam. She had already done her best.

Five minutes later, Wen Chi finally caught her breath and looked at the person she had saved.

But before she could even turn her head fully, she saw a dagger held just below her neck.

The blade looked extremely sharp, faintly gleaming with a silver light.

“Y-you! What are you doing?! I just saved you!”

Wen Chi’s voice trembled. What kind of person was this? She had risked her life just now—

and he still wanted to kill her.

Repaying kindness with hostility!

“You are a zombie.”

The man’s single sentence stunned Wen Chi, throwing her into panic.

How did he figure it out? She did not look anything like a zombie at all.

Could it be because of her eyes?

Wen Chi quickly tried to explain:

“Heheh…”

“Hey handsome, you must have made a mistake. I’m this good-looking—how could I possibly be a zombie?”
