For a few seconds, I just stared at the ceiling.

I rubbed my eyes and slowly got out of bed.
I freshened up, changed my clothes, and checked my phone.
Nothing from Jay.

I walked out of my room.
As I reached downstairs— I stopped.

All of them were sitting around the living room.

My breathing became heavier.
Percy: “Jayjay?” Nothing.
I walked back into the room.
My eyes moved everywhere.
Then— I noticed something on my table.
A folded piece of paper.
I picked it up.
My name was written on it.
Perse.
I immediately opened it.
But before I could read it— My phone buzzed.
Unknown number.
I looked at the screen.
Something clicked in my mind.
Jay’s secret phone.
The phone she used when she didn’t want anyone else to know who she was talking to.
I quickly checked it.
There was a message.
Jay: I’m at the temple.
Don’t worry.
I’ll be back.
I stared at the message.

I had been sleeping.
She had probably tried to wake me.
I immediately called the number.
She picked up.
Jay: “Hello?” My voice came out sharper than I intended.
Percy: “BABY, WHERE ARE YOU?!” There was silence.
Then— Jay: “Perse?” Percy: “Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving?!” Jay sighed softly.
Jay: “I did.” I froze.
Percy: “What?” Jay: “I came to your room.” I looked at my bed.
Jay: “You were sleeping.” I closed my eyes.
Jay: “You looked tired, so I didn’t wake you.” My guilt immediately hit me.
Jay: “I left a note on your table.” I looked down.

Jay: “And I texted you from this number.” I stared at my phone.
She was right.
I had panicked without even checking.
Percy: “I…” She chuckled softly.
Jay: “You panicked.” I sighed.
Percy: “Obviously I panicked.” Jay: “Why?” Percy: “Because I woke up and you were gone!” Jay: “I’m at the temple, Perse.” Percy: “I know.” I took a deep breath.
Percy: “Stay there.” Jay: “Why?” Percy: “I’m coming.” Jay: “Perse—” Percy: “Don’t move.” Jay laughed softly.
Jay: “Okay.” The call ended.
I stood there for a second.
Then I looked at the note again.
I opened it.
It was simple.
Perse, I went to the temple for Krishna pooja.
You were sleeping, so I didn’t wake you.
I’ll be back soon.
Don’t worry.

Then I heard footsteps behind me.
Everyone had come upstairs.
Keifer: “What happened?” Angelo: “Where is Jay?” Aris: “Why did you run upstairs like that?” I looked at all of them.
Percy: “She’s at the temple.” Silence.
Josh: “Temple?” Edrix: “What temple?” Rory: “Why would she go there alone?” Mayo: “Is she okay?” Kit: “Did something happen?” Ci-N: “Why didn’t she tell us?” Felix: “Wait…
she actually left the house?” Yuri: “And you didn’t know?” I rubbed my forehead.
Percy: “She came to my room.” Everyone stared at me.
Percy: “I was sleeping.” I held up the note.
Percy: “She left this for me and texted me.” Drew: “Then why were you panicking?” I looked at him.
Percy: “Because I didn’t see the note.” Denzel: “Oh.” Calix: “So you thought she disappeared?” Percy: “Yes.” Eren: “And now?” Percy: “I’m going to get her.” Eman immediately stood.
Eman: “We’re coming.” I shook my head.
Percy: “No.” Blaster: “Why?” Percy: “Because I’m going alone.” Keifer: “We’re coming.” Percy: “I said no.” David: “Percy, we’re not letting you go alone.” I looked around the room.
Percy: “You don’t even know where we’re going.” Angelo: “Then tell us.” Percy: “It’s a temple.” Everyone exchanged confused looks.
Aris: “What’s a temple?” I stared at him.
Percy: “A place important to Jay.” Aris: “Important how?” Percy: “Very.” Keifer: “Then we’re coming.” Percy: “No.” Yuri: “Why are you refusing?” Percy: “Because she doesn’t need all of you there.” The room went silent.
Eman: “We’re worried about her too.” Percy: “Then stay here.” Josh: “We’re coming.” Edrix: “Yeah.” Rory: “Definitely.” Mayo: “We’re not staying behind.” Kit: “You can’t stop all of us.” Ci-N: “Exactly.” Felix: “We’ll come.” Drew: “Everyone is coming.” I looked at them.
Then I sighed.
Percy: “Do whatever you want.” I walked past them.
Percy: “But don’t blame me if Jay gets angry.” That shut them up for a second.
Then— Everyone followed.
I walked downstairs and headed straight for the car.
Aris and Angelo followed me.
I glanced at them.
Percy: “You two too?” Angelo: “We’re coming.” Aris: “We want to make sure she’s okay.” I opened the driver’s door.
Percy: “Fine.” I got inside.
Aris and Angelo climbed in.
The others followed in another car.
I started driving.
But my mind was already somewhere else.
Jay.
I just needed to see her.
I needed to know she was okay.
After some time, we finally reached the temple.
I parked the car.
The moment I stepped out— I could already feel the peaceful atmosphere.
I looked toward the temple stairs.
And then I saw her.
Jay.
She was sitting on the stairs.
Playing with a tiny puppy.
I stopped walking.
My heart finally relaxed.

Then I looked at her properly.
Percy: “You wore it.” She looked down at her saree.
Jay: “You gave it to me.” Percy: “I know.” I smiled.
Percy: “You look beautiful.” Her cheeks immediately turned slightly pink.

They stopped.

Because none of them had ever seen her dressed like this.
She wasn’t wearing her usual clothes.

She was sitting on temple stairs in a beautifully draped saree, playing with a puppy as bells sounded softly somewhere inside the temple.

She simply turned back toward the puppy.

Blaster whispered to Aris— Blaster: “Did she just ignore him?” Aris: “Yes.” Angelo looked at Jay carefully.

Angelo: “Why did you come here?” Jay: “Krishna pooja.” Angelo frowned.
Angelo: “Who’s Krishna?” Jay finally looked at him.
Her expression was completely serious.
Jay: “My God.” Everyone went silent.
Keifer looked confused.
Keifer: “Your…
God?” Jay: “Yes.” Yuri: “And this place?” Jay: “Temple.” Yuri: “What happens here?” Jay: “Pooja.” Yuri: “What’s pooja?” Jay stared at him.
Jay: “Prayer.” Yuri nodded slowly.
Yuri: “Oh.” Josh looked around.
Josh: “So this whole place is for your God?” Jay: “Yes.” Edrix: “And you come here often?” Jay: “Yes.” Rory: “Why?” Jay: “Because I want to.” Rory immediately shut up.
Mayo looked at the temple.
Mayo: “Are we supposed to go inside?” Jay’s expression instantly became colder.
Jay: “No.” Mayo: “Why?” Jay: “Because you’re not here for prayer.” Silence.
Mayo: “Oh.” Kit looked at Percy.
Kit: “You knew about this?” Percy: “Yes.” Ci-N: “You’ve been here before?” Percy: “Yes.” Felix: “And you know what all of this means?” Percy: “Yes.” Drew: “Why didn’t you tell us?” Percy: “Because it’s Jay’s personal life.” Keifer looked at Jay.
Keifer: “You actually come here dressed like this?” Jay turned toward him.
Jay: “Yes.” Keifer: “Why?” Jay: “Because I want to.” Keifer: “You look…” He paused.
Jay raised an eyebrow.
Keifer immediately stopped.
Keifer: “Different.” Jay: “I know.” David smiled slightly.
David: “The saree looks really beautiful on you.” Jay looked at him for a second.
Jay: “Thank you.” David smiled.
Then Aris spoke.
Aris: “Why did you choose this place?” Jay’s expression changed.
Cold.
Completely cold.
Jay: “Because it’s mine.” Aris frowned.
Aris: “What do you mean?” Jay: “Not yours.” Aris went silent.
Angelo tried again.
Angelo: “Jay, we were worried.” Jay: “I didn’t ask you to worry.” Angelo: “We thought something happened.” Jay: “Something did.” Everyone became tense.
Angelo: “What?” Jay looked toward the temple.
Jay: “I wanted peace.” Nobody spoke.
Jay continued playing with the puppy.
Jay: “And I found it.” The entire Section E went silent.
For the first time…
They understood something.
This wasn’t simply a building.
This wasn’t simply another place Jay visited.
This was somewhere she felt safe.
Somewhere nobody was allowed to bring their drama.
Their questions.
Their hatred.
Their past.
Even Aris seemed to understand that.
He looked at Jay.
Then at the temple.
Then quietly stepped back.
I noticed.
I smiled slightly.

I sat beside Jay on the stairs.
She leaned slightly against my shoulder.

Percy: “We’re staying here for a while.” Keifer: “How long?” I looked at Jay.

Completely peaceful.
Percy: “Until she’s ready to leave.” Nobody argued.

Jay looked at me.
Jay: “Perse.” Percy: “Hmm?” Jay: “Thank you for coming.” I smiled.
Percy: “Always.” She smiled back.
And for the first time that morning…
I wasn’t scared anymore.
Because my baby was safe.
She was at the one place where her heart could finally breathe.
Her temple.
Her Krishna.
Her peace.
And I wasn’t going to let anyone take that away from her.
