A foul-smelling, turbid, violent wind roared, rushing right at her face.

The air was mixed with a strong, pungent scent of blood that was utterly nauseating.

Su Wan only felt that her body had completely lost its center of gravity, her entire person plummeting rapidly toward the bottomless abyss below.Full novel: Selling Chinese Food in the Apocalypse and Picking Up a God of War as a Security Guard — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The cold wind scraped past her cheeks like razor blades, bringing wave after wave of piercing pain.

Right at this life-or-death split second, two faces poked out from the second-floor balcony—a man and a woman.

The woman was wearing exquisite yet somewhat smudged makeup, and at this moment, she was smiling with a completely distorted face.

Looking down condescendingly at the falling Su Wan, her voice was sharp and vicious, like a blade soaked in poison.

“Su Wan, just rest assured and go down to feed the zombies. This entire room of supplies you worked so hard to stockpile is all mine now.”

The man standing beside the woman not only showed no intention of reaching out a hand to help, but instead revealed a cold expression of sheer relief.

The man chimed in, not a shred of guilt in his voice, his eyes carrying a chilling calculation.

“Weiwei is right. Who could tolerate a do-gooder saint like you for so long? If it weren’t for your good family background, I would have dumped you ages ago.”

“The apocalypse has already broken out for three days, and your worthless kindness will get us killed sooner or later.”

“You deserve to die right here; consider it the last little contribution you make for loving me.”

A violent sense of weightlessness, accompanied by a needle-like headache, suddenly struck.

Su Wan’s mind was instantly forcefully stuffed with a large amount of memory fragments that did not originally belong to her.

She opened her eyes wide with a start, finally realizing that an incredible thing had happened: she had transmigrated into a book.

Just ten minutes ago, she was a state banquet-level Chinese cuisine chef at a top-tier domestic star-rated hotel.

She had just concluded a high-intensity national culinary competition and won the gold medal of that session without a single shred of suspense.

Upon returning to her private lounge, she casually flipped through an apocalyptic wasteland novel titled “Apocalyptic God of War” to pass the time.

Looking at the cannon-fodder female supporting character in the book who shared the exact same name as her, Su Wan had been so furious at the time that she sneered repeatedly.

The Su Wan in the book came from an affluent family and, by a twist of fate, had stockpiled survival supplies to the brim before the apocalyptic red fog descended.

Yet this female supporting character happened to be an irredeemable love-brain and a peerless do-gooder saint.

She poured her heart and soul out to her fake best friend Lin Weiwei and her scumbag boyfriend Zhang Hao, even saving and rationing her life-saving food to give to them.

The ultimate ending was suffering betrayal on the third day of this red fog disaster.

These two ungrateful, wolf-hearted traitors joined forces to rob her of everything.

Not only did they monopolize all the supplies, but they also heartlessly pushed her down from the second-floor balcony.

The original owner was fed directly to the zombies downstairs, dying a miserable death after living for less than three chapters in the entire book.

Su Wan had merely muttered a single line at the time, calling her a peerless pitiful scapegoat, only for everything to go black before her eyes as she transmigrated right in.

Moreover, the timing of her transmigration was so precisely spot-on that it made her want to curse.

It happened to be the exact moment of certain death when the original owner was pushed off the high building, her body suspended in mid-air as she was about to fall into the bloody jaws of the zombies.

Su Wan lowered her gaze and looked down abruptly: the three ferocious-looking zombies below were raising their heads.

Rotten flesh fell off in clumps along with their hoarse wails, revealing ghastly white bones.

Their turbid, yellowed eyeballs stared fixedly at her in mid-air.

Foul, black saliva dripped down their cracked chins onto the crack-filled cement ground.

They were growing impatient as they waited to relish this meal that had fallen from the skies.

If it were the original owner, she would have long since been scared out of her wits, screaming and fainting.

However, Su Wan was someone who had experienced countless major scenes; the more dangerous the environment, the calmer she remained.

Right at this critical juncture, two emotionless, icy mechanical voices suddenly blasted off.

The voices rang out directly and clearly in the deepest recesses of Su Wan’s mind, one after another.

“Ding, Apocalyptic Chinese Restaurant System binding successful. Host identity confirmed: Su Wan.”

“Ding, versatile exchange box synchronized and activated. First principle of the system: everything can be exchanged for points as the exclusive currency based on value.”

“Ding, novice gift package automatically distributed. Congratulations to the host for obtaining one primary body-strengthening potion and one exclusive chef’s knife.”

Almost the instant the prompt tone faded, a warm and extremely formidable power emerged out of thin air.

This power surged through Su Wan’s limbs and bones in an instant like a fiery dragon.

Her body, which had previously been limp and weak from excessive terror and hunger, underwent a drastic transformation at this moment.

The density of her muscles seemed to be reshaped in a split second, and Su Wan’s limbs were filled with explosive, terrifying strength.

The arm strength honed from tossing woks day after day in her past life, coupled with the heaven-defying enhancement of the system potion, gave her an edge.

Su Wan abruptly twisted her flexible waist mid-air, her gaze turning fiercely sharp.

Her right hand grabbed onto the rusted iron frame extending from beneath the balcony with the tenacity of iron pliers forged from fine steel.

That was the rusted iron frame installed for the outdoor air-conditioning unit, which had now become her only straw to grasp for survival.

The enormous downward pull tugged at her arm, and a dull, teeth-grating sound emanated from her shoulder joint.

Yet she gritted her teeth and bore this tearing pain, her knuckles turning white from the sheer force.

Rusted iron flakes embedded themselves deep into her palms, but she did not even frown.

Simultaneously, a chef’s knife gleaming with a biting cold light appeared silently.

The blade was as thin as cicada wings, held quietly in her left hand, the handle fitting the palm of her hand to perfection.

Up on the balcony, Lin Weiwei, who had been smugly preparing to enjoy the bloody spectacle, froze.

The corner of her eye suddenly caught sight of a figure not falling down after all.

Instead, that figure hung onto the external iron frame in an extremely bizarre posture.

The vicious smile on Lin Weiwei’s face instantly froze at the corners of her mouth, looking utterly ridiculous.

Pointing downward as if she had seen a ghost, she shrieked, her voice extremely piercing.

“Su Wan, why aren’t you dead yet? Drop down right now!”

Zhang Hao’s expression shifted as well. Cursing a damn it under his breath, he rushed toward the dusty balcony edge in two strides.

With a look of ferocious malice, he raised the foot wearing a hard-soled leather shoe, preparing to stomp down ruthlessly onto Su Wan’s hands.

If that stomp landed solidly, Su Wan’s finger bones would definitely shatter, and she would undoubtedly fall to her doom.

“Want me to kill me? The two of you aren’t qualified yet.”

A cold gleam flashed in the depths of Su Wan’s eyes, and a chilling sneer escaped from the depths of her throat.

She didn’t give Zhang Hao a chance to land his kick at all.

Leveraging that terrifying strength in her arms, Su Wan abruptly drew in her abdomen and mustered her breath.

Her entire body flipped and leaped through the air like a nimble yet ferocious leopard.

She uncoiled her long legs in mid-air, delivering a heavy kick straight into Zhang Hao’s kneecap.

With a hair-raising, crisp snap of bone-cracking, the sound rippled through the air.

Zhang Hao let out a miserable, pig-slaughtering scream as his entire body tumbled backward out of control.

He landed flat on his rear onto the dusty balcony floorboards, his features twisting together in agony.

Clutching his knee tightly with both hands, he wailed as beads of cold sweat instantly popped up across his forehead.

By now, Su Wan had already landed steadily on the edge of the balcony, her posture upright and imposing like a God of Death.

Without even catching her breath, her left hand casually twirled the blade into an exceptionally exquisite flourish.

The razor-sharp chef’s knife she had just obtained through check-in was already thrust forward with a biting chill.

The blade tip pressed with pinpoint accuracy directly against Zhang Hao’s fragile carotid artery.

The icy metal edge clung closely to the warm skin.

Zhang Hao could even clearly feel the frantic throbbing rhythm of his own artery.

He had no doubt that as long as this woman before him applied even the slightest bit of pressure, blood would splatter right on the spot.

Zhang Hao shivered uncontrollably all over, completely frightened out of his wits.

A warm liquid faintly seeped into his crotch, and an unpleasant, pungent muskiness instantly filled the air.

His face turned instantly ashen, devoid of a single trace of color, his Adam’s apple rolling frantically as he didn’t even dare to draw a full breath.

Lin Weiwei, standing off to the side, was scared out of her wits even more, retreating backward step by step.

She backed all the way up against the cold wall of the living room before stopping, her legs so weak she could barely stand.

Pointing with trembling fingers at Su Wan, who seemed like a completely different person, her voice was laced with terror.

“Su Wan, have you lost your mind? What are you doing with a knife? Murder is illegal, you know!”

“Lost my mind?” Su Wan tilted her head slightly, her gaze sweeping past Lin Weiwei as if looking at a cold corpse.

Without wasting another word, she strode directly forward.

With a backhanded swing, she delivered an extremely crisp, resounding slap, landing it unreservedly across Lin Weiwei’s face.

With a loud slap, it sounded exceptionally harrowing in the otherwise quiet room.

Lin Weiwei was sent flying straight out by the sheer force, crashing heavily into a nearby cardboard box of supplies.

Half of her face instantly swelled up like a blood-engorged pig head, a trace of bright crimson blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

“You robbed my supplies, pushed me down to feed the zombies, and now you turn around and ask me if I’ve lost my mind?”

Su Wan’s tone was chillingly calm, yet it radiated an absolute, hair-raising intent to kill.

Walking back to Zhang Hao’s side, she kept her grip on the knife and pushed it forward by another millimeter, blood trickling down the blade.

“Since the two of you also know that the apocalypse has broken out, kindness is utterly worthless.”

“Then even if I hacked you both into pieces to feed the stray dogs outside today, it would only be right and proper.”

Zhang Hao cried tears and snot streaming down his face, his hands waving wildly in the air as he tried to surrender.

“Wanwan, I was wrong. It was all that bitch Lin Weiwei who forced me; she’s the one who made me do this.”

Hearing those words, Lin Weiwei clutched her face and stared in disbelief at the man on the ground.

Just a second ago they were plotting how to monopolize the supplies, yet now, faced with life and death, he shifted the blame without a moment’s hesitation.

Trembling all over with rage, she pointed at Zhang Hao and cursed him viciously, the two of them tearing into each other like dogs biting dogs.

Su Wan looked coldly at these two irredeemable pieces of trash, finding it all utterly laughable in her heart.

In her past life, she had managed to claw her way up in the man-eating restaurant industry; what she relied on was never some kind of soft-hearted bodhisattva mindset.

Now trapped in this cruel apocalypse where the strong prey on the weak, anyone who dared to stab her in the back had to pay the price.

“Now, get the hell out of my apartment immediately.”

Putting away the chef’s knife, Su Wan delivered a fierce kick straight into Zhang Hao’s soft stomach.

Feeling as though all his internal organs were about to be shattered, Zhang Hao slid all the way to the entryway near the main door.

Su Wan strode forward, grabbing a handful of Lin Weiwei’s disheveled hair.

Dragging her to the doorway like a dead chicken, she hurled her right out through the security door as well.

Lin Weiwei and the curled-up ball of Zhang Hao crashed heavily into one another, letting out a chorus of wails.

With a dull thud, the thick, sturdy security door was slammed shut by Su Wan and dead-bolted from the inside.

Outside the door, it remained quiet for all of two seconds before erupting into the frantic door-pounding and hysterically screeching curses of the two individuals.

“Su Wan, open the door! For the sake of our past relationship, at least split half the supplies with us!”

Su Wan didn’t even lift an eyelid. She quietly looked at the mountain of living supplies piled high inside this large flat.

Purified water, top-grade rice, various canned meats, high-energy compressed biscuits, and a large quantity of medicine.

On this third day of the apocalypse where order had completely collapsed, this room full of supplies was enough to make people kill each other.

Right at this moment, the curses outside the door suddenly stopped.

Replacing them was Lin Weiwei’s pitch-altered, terrified shriek, piercing the silence of the hallway.

“Zombies! There are zombies coming up the stairs! Zhang Hao, don’t run, save me!”

Accompanied by Zhang Hao’s exasperated roar and the sound of messy, hurried footsteps, the commotion outside rapidly receded.

Closely trailing behind them were the heavy, thudding footsteps of several zombies roaring in excitement.

A chilling, bone-deep curve formed at the corner of Su Wan’s lips.

She had deliberately made a commotion precisely to use the screams of those two fools to attract the zombies in the stairwell.

This was the purest form of killing with a borrowed knife—it cleared out the trash while clearing the obstacles for her own upcoming departure.

“System, collect all these supplies into the space.” Su Wan decisively issued the command.

The crisp prompt tone of the system rang out instantly, and a faint flash of light swept across the room.

The spacious living room, which had been packed full to the brim moments before, was instantly emptied, leaving not a single grain of rice or drop of water behind.

Wielding the gleaming chef’s knife, Su Wan walked over to the entryway and peered outside through the peephole.

Confirming that the hallway outside was completely empty and that those two ungrateful wolves had lured the zombies down to the lower floors, she nodded.

This was quite literally the perfect apocalyptic start. Su Wan took a deep breath.

She secretly commanded the system to scan and locate a street-level commercial storefront with its own courtyard within eight hundred meters that was most suitable for opening a restaurant.

“Ding, a two-story commercial storefront with an attached courtyard eight hundred meters away has been locked in for you.”

The crisp electronic chime echoed in her mind as Su Wan pushed open the fire escape door stained with dark bloodstains.

Without looking back, she stepped forward into the ruined world completely shrouded in scarlet fog.

From this day forward, the rules of this apocalypse would be rewritten by her.
