“Do you want Cheng Qingyue to compete for the position of your sister-in-law too?” Shang Yan didn’t quite understand. All he knew was that between Zhen Lianyun and Cheng Qingyue, she and Cheng Qingyue were the most at odds.
“You make it sound like a battle for the throne. If she wants it, I’m just pointing her in the right direction.” Fu Wanzhi picked up the shawl from the sofa.
Zhen Lianyun appeared kind but was far from simple, while Cheng Qingyue was just foolish.
She was looking forward to the sparks that would fly when the two collided and how Fu Sili would choose then.
Fu Wanzhi curved her lips slightly, her eyes dimming: “Where has my dear sister-in-law gone?”
“She’s over there, surrounded by people having fun. Cheng Qingyue followed her.” Shang Yan took a drag and exhaled a puff of white smoke.
“Oh~ Then the show is about to begin.” Fu Wanzhi leaned back, tapping her fingertips lightly.
Both of them looked over, their faces wearing expressions of anticipation.
Not long after, a loud splash came from ahead, followed by exclamations: “Someone, come quickly! Someone fell into the water!”
Shang Yan stood up, and after seeing clearly who was struggling in the water, he turned to Fu Wanzhi: “It’s Zhen Lianyun.”
“Let’s go, then. Let’s join in.” Fu Wanzhi tied up her hair.
Shang Yan watched as she immediately put on a worried expression and jogged over, finding it amusing. He thought it was a shame Fu Wanzhi didn’t study acting.
“Who fell into the water?!” Fu Wanzhi feigned surprise and asked.
“It’s Lianyun. I just saw Cheng Qingyue push her in,” a girl shouted loudly.
Cheng Qingyue took a few steps back, looking incredulously at the person who had already been rescued: “I didn’t even touch her! She fell in by herself!”
Zhen Lianyun was completely drenched, her hair clinging to her pale cheeks. She wrapped herself tightly in a towel, her voice weak: “Don’t say anything more. It was my own carelessness…”
Fu Wanzhi couldn’t help but laugh inwardly at her appearance. To go to such lengths… It showed just how much Cheng Qingyue’s words had affected her.
Nevertheless, she stepped forward to support Zhen Lianyun, speaking with concern: “Sister-in-law, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, Zhizhi…” Zhen Lianyun shook her head, patting Fu Wanzhi’s head with her ice-cold palm.
Seeing Zhen Lianyun’s pale face, the crowd’s gazes toward Cheng Qingyue shifted, filled with whispers and pointing fingers…
“Wait, Director Fu is coming.”
Someone shouted, instantly diverting everyone’s attention.
Fu Wanzhi noticed the people around her straightening up slightly. She lowered her gaze—the star of the show had arrived.
“What?! Fu Sili is here?!”
A small commotion erupted nearby as everyone looked in the direction Fu Sili was coming from, imagining how he would stand up for Zhen Lianyun.
The crowd instinctively parted to make way.
Fu Sili wore a black shirt, his jacket draped over his arm. Two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a hint of his collarbone beneath his smooth, elegant neck. His exquisitely sculpted face was breathtakingly beautiful.
His gaze first landed on Fu Wanzhi. Seeing her wearing the outfit he had gifted her, the corners of his lips curved slightly.
“Sili…” Zhen Lianyun called out to Fu Sili, her voice weak and pitiful.
Only then did Fu Sili shift his gaze to her, looking her up and down: “Fell into the water?”
“That’s right, Director Fu, you don’t know—it was Cheng Qingyue who just pushed Lianyun down,” they said indignantly.
“You’re lying! I never pushed her at all.” Seeing Fu Sili approach, Cheng Qingyue grew even more frantic. Her image had already been tarnished once before; she couldn’t let it happen again.
