Sara waited for her parcel of cardboard box to arrive so she could start packing.
The kids played with their new toys. For the past few days, she had been writing her story, but she was feeling burned out day by day. Before, it was necessary for her. But after Arthur arrived, that drive died down a lot. She wanted to enjoy herself without the burden of earning money.
But she also didn’t want to give up on writing, because she genuinely liked writing. And after a lot of thinking, she decided that she will continue to write, but only pursue it as a hobby.
Not a professional path she must earn money from. Unlike before, she is now allowed to be herself. She doesn’t have to worry about her big sister drowning all alone.
Since there was someone else to take care of her whole family. And because of him, her days have been as bright and peaceful as the sun.
Everyday, she could look forward to something new. Even if she didn’t know what. Because she knew there will be something that the mystery boyfriend of her sister will bring about in their lives.
And she is right. Within just three days, her family went from sad, oppressed, on the verge of collapse to who knows where. Because she has no idea just how rich Arthur was. She doesn’t want to think about it either.
She is just happy that everyone is living better than before. Her sister seems a bit better after proper rest, her little brother is smiling more.
Actually enjoying himself, not pretending. She hoped life would go like this forever. But she knows nothing is free.
She knows it was her sister that was paying the price. What it was, she had no idea. But from what she had observed, there isn’t much going on.
Arthur is a very respectful person. He doesn’t treat her sister like an expandable object. They also don’t spend much time alone with each other. So there won’t be anything going on behind her back either. And even if Arthur does something behind her back, there is nothing she could do.
She may not have experienced it, but she knows of the darkness of the world. She just hoped that her big sister wouldn’t get herself tangled with something she cannot get out of.
Judy sighed and shook her head, worrying about adult matters is not her business. Besides, she trusts Arthur. He doesn’t come off as a guy who would do something evil to her big sister.
But there is always a sliver of possibility. But she won’t act all paranoid just because there’s a possibility. That is the highest level of stupidity.
As the twins were playing, Sara was watching TV. She was extremely invested when the door bell rang. She clicked her tongue in displeasure. She was watching a very romantic yet tragic film, and some random delivery guy had to ruin it.
But she couldn’t do anything because she was the one who ordered. She grumpily got up and walked up to the door.
She aggressively opened the door to show her displeasure. But instead of a delivery guy, it was Arthur. Her expression instantly shifted from displeased to meek. She meekly stepped aside and let Arthur inside. She closed the door upon his entry.
She didn’t even know why she did it. She felt like a house wife inviting her husband in. Embarrassed, she stormed inside and sat back down on the sofa. She used a pillow to hide her blush.
Arthur gazed at Sara, wondering what was wrong with her. But decided not to think too deeply. Her mental illness was not his problem.
’Wait. It is my problem! ...No, wait. It actually isn’t my problem. As long as she is well enough to receive the money I spend on her, it’s fine.’
Arthur was momentarily stunned because he thought he might need to send Sara to an asylum, but realised he didn’t need to. Relief washing over him.
After taking off his shoes, he sat down beside Sara and started watching what she was watching. He was back earlier than expected. It didn’t take long to commission an investigation. So he was back relatively early. Now he could help with the packing as well.
Arthur wanted to buy new devices and clothes very badly but decided that he will do it once he is settled in Academy City.
He also needed to get a passport because he will be travelling back and forth between magic city and Academy City a lot. It was nearly eight hours of driving from here.
He had a lot of stuff to do here. He needed to get his TC to get admitted into another university in Academy City. Only after his year ended. Or this whole year will be wasted. So at the time of the exam, he might need to stay here. But if something were to happen to Sara and her family while he is away and he is needed back, he would need to go back quickly.
Taking a plane is ideal. And he also wants to travel the world. So a passport is a must.
But right now, it is not possible. Because he plans to leave for Academy City tomorrow.
There is also the matter of Bill. That is his top priority right now.
But for now, moving this family to somewhere safe as soon as possible needs all his attention.
As Arthur was thinking about his to-do list, which seems to be getting bigger and bigger, the door bell rang.
Arthur turned to Sara, asked her where his gun was. And told her to bring it to him. She nodded and stole into her room. She brought his gun and handed it to him.
Arthur looked at her with a deadpan look. Sara immediately understood that look. She laughed sheepishly. Arthur had left his gun so she could keep it close and use it in case of emergency. But instead, she had put it inside her room.
He sighed and got up. Put the gun behind him, hunting his hoodie.
The kids noticed and stopped playing. Tension in the air rose a bit as they watched Arthur approach the door. He opened the door slightly. It was a delivery guy. He took the parcel and closed the door.
Everyone inside sighed in relief. Arthur brought the parcel to the living room.
Sara turned off the TV.
"Alright everyone! It’s time for packing!"
She said excitedly.
