Mu Bai eagerly pressed his face against the bathroom’s glass door, eyes glued to the man wrapped in a bath towel.
The man pushed the door open, and Mu Bai instantly tossed aside the thought of so big that had just flashed across his mind. Like an arrow, he shot straight toward the bed.
The man in the towel raised his head again and again, as if trying to confirm something.
Mu Bai, completely unaware that he had already become a little pervert ghost, was currently busy fussing over the bedroom.
He leaned close to the nightstand, puffing out his cheeks as he blew carefully on the sleep incense.
Yan He watched him. Just like last night, the little ghost squatted obediently in front of the nightstand, cheeks puffed as he blew several times, looking for all the world like a well-behaved child.
Yan He rubbed at his damp hair with a towel, brows slightly furrowed. The ghost in front of him had the youthful air of a boy, he didn’t look very old at all.
In fact, he looked even younger than Yan He’s nephew who had just graduated from university. How had such a small child become a pervert ghost already?
This matter of lust didn’t seem to match that face at all.
But the next second, Yan He could only stare in silence as the little ghost cheerfully kicked off his shoes, scrambled onto the bed, and then turned his head to look at him with eager eyes.
Yan He: “…”
He even saw the ghost pat the quilt as if urging him to hurry up and come lie down together.
Yan He put down the towel in his hands, his expression complicated.
Truly, a pervert ghost.
Half an hour later.
The bedroom was pitch-black. On the pale gray bed, the man lay sleeping as neatly as the night before, both hands resting on his stomach, his breathing steady, his eyes closed.
Mu Bai climbed onto the bed, tiptoed carefully, and then finally settled himself down as a bed-pressing ghost.
After hundreds of years, he had finally found a brand new target who went to bed early and woke up early.
He was terrified of pressing too heavily and accidentally squashing the man beneath him. So while lying on him, he muttered nonstop, “I’ll just press a little… just a little…”
Perhaps because the taste of being full was too satisfying, before long Mu Bai, stuffed and content, actually drifted into a deep sleep himself, utterly unaware that just like last night, he ended up sleeping soundly.
Only this time, even in his dreams, Mu Bai kept repeating the same thing, as if to remind himself not to hurt the man beneath him.
Around one in the morning.
Yan He vaguely felt someone murmuring beside him.
Opening his eyes, he discovered the little ghost sprawled across him, whispering in his sleep: “I’ll just press a little…” It was exactly like sleep talk.
Yan He rolled over, intending to switch on the light. But as soon as he turned, the little ghost tumbled off the bed with a thud.
By the faint moonlight seeping through the window, Yan He saw the small figure sit up groggily, hair sticking up in a messy halo. With half-closed eyes, he looked around warily, as if checking for other ghosts.
Still half-asleep, he finally confirmed there was nothing else nearby. Only then did he let out a long sigh of relief.
Yan He: “…”
This little ghost didn’t seem very powerful at all. Maybe finding an exorcist wasn’t even necessary.
The ghost, after looking around cautiously for quite a while, found no sign of danger.
Yawning, he climbed back onto the bed, burrowed against the quilt, and once again pressed down comfortably.
Watching the little ghost hogging one corner of his blanket, fast asleep, Yan He rubbed his temples.
Forget it.
Better to consult the master anyway.
Evening, sunset like fire across the sky.
In the office, Yan He leaned back in his chair, pen in hand, speaking into the phone.
“Mm. I’ve observed it for a few days. That little ghost should be a pervert ghost.”
The person on the other end asked in surprise, “How can you tell it’s a pervert ghost?”
Yan He’s eyelids twitched as he remembered the ghost’s awestruck exclamation that night.
Fortunately, the person didn’t press the question further. Instead, he sighed.
“I contacted my master yesterday. He said he met an old acquaintance on his travels and promised to help them, so he won’t be back for more than three months.”
“But according to what you’ve said, if the ghost is really a pervert ghost, then it’s not too troublesome. With the prayer beads protecting you, even if it absorbs some of your energy, it won’t harm you.”
“During the day, scatter some green beans in the house. Lustful spirits hate them, and over time, it’ll naturally avoid you.”
At this, the man on the phone, Hong Hui, paused, his voice lowering with seriousness.
“But whatever you do, don’t act on your own again. All retribution stems from karma. You already carry extreme yin. The more evil spirits you destroy, the heavier your sins will become, and the easier it will be to fall into the wrong path.”
Reclining in his chair, Yan He didn’t speak. Half his face was hidden in shadow, his jawline sharp, his expression cold and unreadable.
Hong Hui seemed to grow more uneasy, and reminded him again,
“Even though scattering green beans can drive that ghost away, remember! Big demons are easy to avoid, but little ghosts are hard to guard against. Pay close attention these next few days, in case it tries something sinister.”
Yan He thought of how the little ghost had once rolled right off the bed while sleep-talking. His silence stretched.
What kind of sinister tricks could that ghost possibly pull?
At most, it just clambered into his bed and stole his blanket.
Still, Yan He responded lightly, as if humoring him.
Past eight in the evening.
A villa on Huanshan Road, downtown Jinshi.
Wearing a gray robe, the little ghost carefully floated up onto the windowsill. Poking his head in, he slipped nimbly through the window into the bedroom.
First, he strolled lazily around the room. Finding no trace of other ghosts, he was satisfied. Rolling up his sleeves, he floated onto the pale gray bed and energetically began arranging the quilt.
After finishing his work, Mu Bai wandered toward the bathroom. Pressing his face against the glass door, he peeked inside eagerly, only to find it empty.
Stunned, he stretched his neck to look again, but still, no man.
After searching inside and out, he finally discovered his target sitting in the brightly lit study.
The study was spacious and simply decorated. Bookshelves were built into the wall, and a heavy wooden chair supported a man dressed in loungewear.
His skin was pale. One hand propped up his chin, eyes half-lowered so that his expression couldn’t be seen.
Scattered papers lay across the desk alongside a pen, while the laptop screen displayed densely packed text.
Leaning back slightly, the man revealed sharp brows and eyes, a high nose, black irises coldly fixed on the screen. His features were strikingly handsome.
Through the thin fabric of his loungewear, Mu Bai could faintly glimpse a body that was tall and well-proportioned, broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist, not a single flaw to pick at.
Perching on the study’s doorframe, Mu Bai swung his legs, waiting for his target to finish work and head to bed.
At first, he waited patiently. But before long, he was propping himself on the frame, yawning repeatedly.
Why was the man still scribbling on paper, or staring at that glowing square box? Why wouldn’t he go to bed already?
Mu Bai dropped down from the doorframe and crept to the desk. Tilting his head, he poked at one of the scattered papers.
“So many…” he muttered to himself.
After a while, the ghost sneakily stretched out a finger, hooked a sheet of paper, and slowly dragged it to the edge of the desk.
The man kept his eyes down, absorbed in his work.
Mu Bai blinked slyly, then slipped the paper into his robe.
Again and again he repeated the act.
Like a squirrel sneaking away with nuts to its tree hole, he quietly hoarded the papers.
At last, the man in the chair noticed something wrong. A few pages had vanished from his desk, as if out of thin air.
He paused in his movements, then lifted his gaze, only to see the little ghost’s head poking above the desk, a pair of black eyes sparkling mischievously.
Yan He set aside the remaining documents, unhurried, and simply reprinted them.
Sure enough, the little fox-like ghost soon stared dumbfounded at the printer spitting out fresh copies.
Mu Bai floated closer, peering curiously at the machine that kept producing new pages.
Soon, the new documents were stacked neatly and stapled together.
The desk grew quiet again, until a black pen suddenly rolled across the surface, pushed along by unseen fingers until it disappeared.
Beneath the desk, Mu Bai stuffed the pen into his pocket, face smug.
He didn’t notice that Yan He had seen the whole thing.
The ghost perched on the edge of the desk, legs swinging, the stolen pen bulging from his pocket, smiling slyly at him.
Yan He’s gaze lingered for a long moment. His slender fingers tapped lightly against the desk, as though considering something.
Was he finally going to bed?
Mu Bai tilted his head, licking his lips in anticipation.
But the man only reached out calmly, pulling open the drawer.
Mu Bai peeked inside curiously, only to see rows upon rows of identical black pens, stacked neatly.
Mu Bai: “…”
He could only watch as Yan He took out a new pen and resumed writing, this time keeping it firmly in his hand. He even brought out a stapler, carefully binding all the scattered documents together.
Mu Bai: “……”
Holding in his frustration, the little ghost circled him twice, but found nothing else worth stealing.
So he zipped out to the living room and hauled out his “mount” the round-headed robot vacuum he had recently tamed.
Sitting proudly astride the machine, Mu Bai slapped the button on its head.
With a soft hum, the vacuum lit up and carried him forward, charging heroically toward the study.
Two minutes later.
Yan He, still at his desk, frowned faintly.
Turning his head, he saw the vacuum bumping clumsily around the room, knocking into his slippers.
Sitting cross-legged on top, the little ghost wore a grave expression, staring at him seriously.
After a moment of silence, Yan He finally rose from his chair.
Mu Bai jumped up eagerly, only to see the man bend down, pick up the vacuum, and carry it out. He pressed the power button, shutting it off before returning.
Outside, the little ghost quickly turned it back on with a click. Lights flickered back to life, and the robot charged headlong toward the study once more.
A minute later, the whole room echoed with its wails.
“Please clear the roller! Please clear the roller!”
Yan He stared at the robot, which should have been off, now careening about while crying noisily.
On top of it, Mu Bai sat cross-legged, smacking the button again and again. Each time he slapped, the machine let out another pitiful cry.
Finally, Yan He closed his laptop.
The robot quieted, even rubbed against his slippers like an obedient pet.
But whenever Yan He tried to reopen the computer, the ghost would order his “mount” to ram his foot in protest.
It was pure lawlessness.
Yan He arched a brow, gaze lingering calmly on the little ghost riding the robot like a warhorse.
Seeing him rise, Mu Bai leapt off his “steed” happily, expecting at last that the man was going to bathe and sleep.
But instead, he watched in horror as Yan He bent down, calmly dismantled his mount, and even removed the battery from its rear.
Mu Bai: “!!!”
Yan He sorted the parts, then tossed the battery into the trash bin marked Non-recyclable.
His mount!
His brave steed that had conquered the whole house with him!
The little ghost’s heart shattered. Wailing with grief, he pounced toward his beloved warhorse.
