13 – Isn’t It Just Showing Off Your Little Wife to Me
Chu Ruan glanced down at the necklace on her chest, then narrowed her eyes and smiled at Fu Chenxuan. Standing on her tiptoes, she gently placed her small hands against the man’s chest, tilted her head up, closed her eyes, and softly kissed him.
The muscles beneath her hands suddenly tensed, then gradually relaxed.
Chu Ruan’s eyes grew warm as a glistening tear slid from her lashes, moistening her watery gaze.
Fu Chenxuan—such a proud and noble man. Why, why would he humble himself to such an extent for her?
Her nose stung intensely, but she didn’t want to cry in front of him. Pressing her lips tightly together, she held back the tears and spoke in a hoarse, slow voice, “Th-thank you.”
Fu Chenxuan lifted her palm-sized face with his hand, his eyelashes lowering. “What’s wrong?”
Chu Ruan nestled her cheek against his palm, rubbing it dependently. Her tearful smile was breathtakingly beautiful, making Fu Chenxuan’s heartbeat quicken.
Jin Zhiren leaned against the restaurant doorway with his arms crossed, disrupting the atmosphere as he spoke, “I’m hungry.”
Startled, Chu Ruan had forgotten there was still a guest in the living room. Fu Chenxuan held her close, soothing her while shooting a murderous glare at Jin Zhiren.
Jin Zhiren stood there nonchalantly. “You called me here to treat her. You can’t expect me to go without a meal, can you?”
Fu Chenxuan had never intended to let him stay for dinner.
Chu Ruan turned around and offered Jin Zhiren a faint smile before speaking firmly, “Pl-please… I, I want to recover.”
A determined light shimmered in the girl’s eyes.
Jin Zhiren was slightly moved, his slender eyes behind gold-rimmed glasses examining Chu Ruan seriously for the first time.
Chu Ruan stood openly, allowing his scrutiny while holding Fu Chenxuan’s hand. The timidity and irritability that once clouded her expression had vanished, as if she had been reborn.
Jin Zhiren glanced at Fu Chenxuan again, but the man’s gaze remained glued to Chu Ruan, impossible to tear away. Resigned, Jin Zhiren shook his head and sighed. “Fine, leave it to me.”
“H-how long will it t-take?” Chu Ruan asked anxiously.
She had other matters to attend to and couldn’t afford to delay.
Jin Zhiren pondered for a moment. “I’ll contact someone tomorrow. As for the timing, it depends on your own recovery progress.”
Chu Ruan narrowed her eyes. If that were the case, she would definitely recover quickly.
Chu Lanyan would undoubtedly fail her model audition. Including training and trial shoots, the process would take about two weeks.
Within those two weeks, she needed to go to Chu Lanyan’s school and build momentum for her.
Chu Ruan’s eyes momentarily turned profound before reverting to their sweet, adorable, and obedient appearance. “Okay!”
A chill ran down Jin Zhiren’s spine. What was that? For a moment, the little one had seemed just like Fu Chenxuan.
Was this what they called “like husband, like wife”?
Jin Zhiren shook his head, dismissing the thought, only to be unceremoniously kicked out of the villa by Fu Chenxuan.
“Hey, hey! I just got here! I haven’t even had a sip of water!” Jin Zhiren protested.
Fu Chenxuan forcibly shoved him into the car and said coldly, “Your task here is done. Go back and prepare. I want to see the doctor here tomorrow.”
“Hey, you—!” Jin Zhiren’s protests were cut off as the car door slammed shut. Nan Qing stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped away.
Furious, Jin Zhiren punched the car door. “How did I end up knowing someone like this!”
Nan Qing drove on expressionlessly.Jin Zhiren crossed her legs in annoyance. After calming down, she slowly let out a mocking laugh.
Wasn’t this just about showing off her newly changed, delicate wife? The medical consultation was secondary – showing off was the main point!
That dog of a man! Pah!
