Everyone looked at the king as he took out an envelope and opened it before reading the contents.
“I’ll make this short for you guys.”
“You will be given a bracelet with a number on it, and you will have to find whoever has the same number on their bracelet as you. When you do, a blue barrier with a 10-meter radius will form around you and your opponent, allowing both of you to engage in a fight, with whoever wins being able to keep their title bracelet, and the loser’s bracelet will disintegrate.”
“And when that happens, your number will switch to a new one as you will need to find your next opponent.”
“And this process will continue until 400 out of the 4000 participants currently here are left.”
“And also remember, no killing.”
“Thank you,” Silva said as thousands of bracelets flew in front of thousands of people, levitating in front of them.
Everyone grabs their bracelet, and Areth does the same and gets the number 65, when suddenly a golden icon appears in front of him.
[QUEST ACTIVATED: PASS THE ENTRANCE EXAM]
[REWARD: Elixir (x1)]
Looking at the message, Areth started to think.
“An elixir?”
“Having one of those on me would be great, could be used in the future if I need it.” He said as people walked around, looking for their matching opponent, when he was approached by another pulsarian young man who seemed around his current age, had shorter hair than him, and a scar around his entire neck, as if his head had been reattached after a beheading, and held a weapon, a metallic bo staff.
While the blue barrier formed around the two, the man shouted at him.
“Hey, you, you’re the other number 65, right?”
?
“Yeah, I am,” Areth said as he made his way closer to him.
“Im Terson, you?” The young man asked him.
“Areth.” He replied.
“I’m going to make this quick. Do you see the scar on my neck?” He said, showing off his scar.
“That ain’t for show, that shit is real, so I’ll let you forfeit out if you don’t want to end up with broken bones.”
“Got it?”
Areth, who didn’t even think of the man in front of him as a threat, subconsciously raised an eyebrow, irritating him.
Tsk!
“You will regret this!” Terson said as he rapidly ran toward him, swinging his staff at him, swinging left and right with technique, as Areth swiftly avoided the attacks, parrying the third strike and sending his staff upward, breaking his moment as he closed the gap between the two of them within a second to hit him with a palm strike to the stomach, sending him a few meters away but he didnt get knocked out from the impact which suprised Areth.
“Maybe I should look at his power level…” He thought to himself as a golden icon appeared on top of Terson’s head.
[POWER LEVEL: TIER 93 (1,409)]
“93?”
“This guy is 3 tiers below me?”
“I’m impressed,” Areth thought as the man dashed towards him as he swung again, this time quicker and more aggressive.
He sent a barrage of swift attacks at him; however, Areth simply either blocked or parried the majority of the attacks with Terson eventually landing a hit on his head, which surprises him slightly.
“I finally got a hit in!” He said as he smiled.
Hmmm.
“He’s not bad.”
“Unfortunately for him, though, I’m a better fighter,” Areth thought as He punched the staff user with great force in the chest, sending him flying into the barrier, knocking him out instantly.
As the fight was finished, the barrier went down, and doctors took Terson out of the area when suddenly Areth felt a small shock on his arm.
He looked down to see that his number switched from 65 to 21.
The young man already knew what to do next: find his next opponent.
He looked around the immense stone terrain for people with the same number as him, but it didn’t seem like there was another number 21 around.
“Seems like I finished quicker than expected.” The young man said as he suddenly felt a presence right behind him, which he didn’t notice at first.
He quickly turned around to see a woman with long hair, a hair bun on top of it, and a scar that went from her forehead, to in between her left nose and eye, to her left cheek, and down her neck to in between her breasts.
“So you’re the next one I’m gonna put down?”
“Well, the least I can do is introduce myself before I beat your ass.”
“My name is Mindrat Hadra, 3rd eldest daughter of the Hadra family.” She said with full confidence.
“…”
Areth already didn’t like her, and she just spoke a single sentence.
She had an arrogant vibe to herself, which was similar to the other pulsarian he had fought a few minutes ago, but unlike the first one, which seemed to be rooted in experience and strength, it seemed rooted in something completely different: bloodline.
