Part 3 – Into the Wild

The following morning, Konidela Production House was once again bustling with activity long before sunrise.

Unlike the previous day’s indoor shoot, today’s schedule involved extensive outdoor filming.Full novel: Starting as Chiranjeevi’s Son, I Became a Global Superstar — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Trucks loaded with camera equipment, lighting rigs, generators, costumes, props, and catering supplies had already departed for the picturesque hills chosen as the location for the school’s educational excursion.

The destination was a lush forested region on the outskirts of Hyderabad, selected carefully by Director N.

Hari to recreate the natural beauty of the Ananthagiri Hills.

As the convoy reached the location, the morning mist still floated gently above the valleys.

Birds chirped from the dense trees while rays of sunlight pierced through the forest canopy, creating a breathtaking landscape.

Director Hari stepped out of his vehicle and looked around with satisfaction.

“This…”

He smiled.

“This is exactly how I imagined it.”

The cinematographer slowly rotated his camera, capturing the golden sunlight filtering through the trees.

“It’ll look magical on film.”

Nearby, assistant directors began coordinating the child artists.

The school bus had already been decorated with the fictional school’s name, and nearly thirty young actors dressed in uniforms climbed aboard while laughing and chatting excitedly.

Although the cameras had not yet started rolling, the atmosphere already resembled an actual school excursion.

Ram and Shruthi sat together inside the bus, both dressed once again as Teja and Ananya.

Unlike the other children, however, they quietly reviewed the day’s script one final time.

Shruthi looked toward Ram with a smile.

“So…”

“Ready for today’s scenes?”

Ram chuckled.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.”

She laughed softly.

“I still can’t believe we have to pretend we’re arguing over camera settings.”

Ram grinned.

“Considering how seriously Director Hari explained photography yesterday…”

“I’m afraid we’ll actually have to sound convincing.”

Both of them laughed.

Watching the interaction from outside, Director Hari nodded approvingly.

“Their friendship is showing naturally.”

“We won’t have to force anything.”

Soon, the first assistant director called out loudly,

“Everyone ready!”

The set immediately became quiet.

The clapboard was brought into position.

“Scene Twenty-One.”

“Shot One.”

“Take One.”

Clap!

“Camera rolling!”

“Sound rolling!”

Director Hari adjusted his headphones.

“Action!”

The school bus slowly drove along the narrow road surrounded by greenery.

Inside, the child artists sang songs, laughed loudly, exchanged snacks, and teased one another just as children naturally would during a school trip.

The camera moved across the bus before finally stopping on Teja and Ananya.

Teja carefully removed his vintage SLR camera from its protective bag.

He inspected the lens with remarkable care.

Ananya watched him with an amused smile.

“You treat that camera better than you treat people.”

Teja looked up innocently.

“It’s expensive.”

Ananya shook her head dramatically.

“No.”

“You’re obsessed.”

The surrounding children laughed.

The scene felt effortless.

Nothing appeared exaggerated.

Exactly as Director Hari had wanted.

Several takes later, filming shifted to the forest itself.

The art department had transformed the area into a believable educational campsite.

Tents had been erected near a clearing while teachers instructed students to remain within safe boundaries.

Shari S., portraying Vice Principal Sarada, delivered her dialogue calmly.

“Everyone, stay with your assigned groups.”

“No wandering into the forest alone.”

“Understood?”

“Yes, Madam!”

The children answered together.

The assistant director smiled.

“Perfect.”

The next sequence focused entirely on Teja and Ananya.

As instructed by the script, both quietly slipped away from the main group carrying notebooks, binoculars, and the precious camera.

The cinematographer followed them using a long tracking shot as they walked deeper into the forest.

Birds fluttered between branches while leaves rustled beneath their feet.

Every frame looked breathtaking.

Director Hari watched the monitor carefully.

“This location was worth every effort.”

Eventually, the pair reached a scenic ridge overlooking a magnificent valley.

The view stretched endlessly.

Rolling hills…

Towering trees…

Morning mist drifting gently between cliffs…

For a few seconds, even the crew forgot they were making a movie.

Everyone silently admired nature.

Director Hari whispered,

“Keep rolling.”

“This beauty deserves to stay on camera.”

Teja slowly assembled his tripod before mounting the SLR camera.

He adjusted the focus ring with practiced precision.

Nearby, Ananya carefully studied the changing sunlight.

“The reflection from those rocks is too strong.”

She pointed toward the valley.

“Reduce the aperture slightly.”

Teja followed her suggestion without hesitation.

“You really notice everything.”

She smiled confidently.

“That’s why we’re a good team.”

The dialogue sounded simple.

Yet it beautifully established the trust between the two young protagonists.

Behind the monitor, Director Hari looked pleased.

“This relationship feels genuine.”

“Excellent.”

Just as the crew prepared to continue toward the darker portion of the storyline, Director Hari suddenly raised his hand.

“Cut.”

Everyone looked confused.

Dark clouds had begun gathering unexpectedly over the hills.

Within moments, the bright sunlight disappeared.

The cinematographer checked his light meter before shaking his head.

“The lighting has completely changed.”

“If we continue now, the continuity won’t match.”

Nagendra Babu walked over.

“What do you suggest?”

Director Hari thought for a moment before closing the script.

“We stop here.”

“The murder sequence deserves perfect lighting.”

“We’ll shoot it tomorrow morning.”

No one argued.

Everyone understood.

The climax of the excursion sequence was too important to compromise.

Ram looked toward the valley once more.

Tomorrow…

Teja’s innocent school trip would unknowingly lead him into the greatest danger of his life.

Far below those peaceful hills…

A ruthless criminal named Vinod was waiting.

Completely unaware…

That a single photograph…

Would eventually destroy his entire empire.

The cameras slowly powered down as the crew packed away their equipment.

The beautiful valley returned to silence.

Yet everyone involved knew that when filming resumed…

The story would take its first dark and unforgettable turn.

Part 4 – The Photograph That Changed Everything

The next morning, the entire production unit reached the forest location before sunrise.

Director N.

Hari had specifically instructed everyone to arrive early so they could capture the soft golden light of dawn.

The previous day’s delay caused by the weather had only strengthened his resolve to film the crucial sequence under perfect natural lighting.

By five-thirty in the morning, the forest was already buzzing with activity.

Technicians assembled camera tracks along the ridge while the lighting crew set up reflectors to complement the rising sunlight rather than overpower it.

The sound department tested their equipment one final time, and assistant directors carefully reviewed the day’s shot division.

Nagendra Babu walked around the location, personally greeting every department head.

“Good morning, everyone.”

“This is one of the most important days of the schedule.”

“So let’s give it our best.”

His words were met with enthusiastic nods from the crew.

Nearby, Chiranjeevi and Kamal Haasan had also arrived to observe the shoot.

Neither wanted to interfere with the filming, but both were curious to see how the young actors handled the film’s first major turning point.

Director Hari gathered Ram, Shruthi, and Shari S.

near the monitor.

He opened the screenplay and calmly explained the emotional progression of the sequence.

“This is where the story changes.”

“Until now, the audience has been smiling.”

“They’ve watched Teja and Ananya as intelligent, cheerful children.”

He paused before continuing.

“From this point onward, innocence collides with reality.”

Looking at Ram, he added,

“Remember…

Teja isn’t looking for danger.”

“He’s simply trying to capture a beautiful photograph.”

Ram nodded seriously.

Then Hari turned to Shruthi.

“Ananya is observant.”

“She notices details before anyone else.”

“But even she doesn’t realize what’s happening below.”

Shruthi acknowledged the instructions with equal seriousness.

Finally, Hari faced Shari S.

“Sarada Madam is the only person who actually witnesses the crime.”

“Your fear must feel real.”

“Not dramatic.”

“Just…

human.”

The actress smiled.

“I understand.”

Director Hari closed the script.

“Let’s make this sequence unforgettable.”

A few minutes later, the familiar commands echoed across the valley.

“Silence!”

“Rolling!”

“Scene Thirty-One.”

“Shot One.”

“Take One.”

Clap!

“Action!”

The school excursion resumed naturally.

Children explored the forest under the supervision of their teachers.

Some sketched plants.

Others photographed butterflies and birds.

Several collected leaves for their science project.

Everything reflected the excitement of a real educational trip.

Teja and Ananya quietly walked away from the main trail carrying their equipment.

The camera followed behind them using a smooth tracking shot.

As they reached the scenic ridge, Teja stopped and admired the breathtaking landscape.

“This view…”

“It’s perfect.”

Ananya adjusted her cap and looked toward the valley.

“The clouds are clearing.”

“You’ve got about thirty seconds before the sunlight changes.”

Teja immediately set up his tripod.

He adjusted the aperture exactly as Ananya had suggested earlier.

The cinematographer slowly zoomed in on the vintage SLR camera.

Every movement was deliberate.

Every adjustment carried meaning.

Far below the ridge…

The tone of the film shifted dramatically.

The peaceful sounds of birds slowly faded.

Instead…

The audience was introduced to another part of the forest.

Hidden among rocky cliffs stood Vinod and four of his men.

Kumara Bangarappa transformed completely into the ruthless criminal.

His cheerful personality from behind the scenes had vanished.

His eyes were cold.

His movements calm.

His silence intimidating.

Director Hari watched carefully.

“Excellent…”

Standing before Vinod was a terrified businessman who had betrayed his organization.

The man pleaded desperately.

“Please…”

“I’ll leave the city.”

“I’ll never return.”

Vinod remained expressionless.

Without raising his voice, he simply replied,

“You’ve already seen too much.”

The forest became eerily silent.

Back on the ridge, completely unaware of the horrifying scene unfolding below, Teja focused entirely on his photography.

He looked through the camera’s viewfinder.

Adjusted the focus.

Waited patiently.

Ananya glanced toward the changing sunlight.

“Now.”

“This is the perfect lighting.”

Teja smiled.

He gently pressed the shutter button.

Click.

The sound echoed softly through the valley.

At that exact moment…

Far below…

Vinod committed the murder.

The timing was flawless.

Neither Teja nor Ananya saw anything unusual.

To them…

It was simply another beautiful landscape photograph.

Not far away…

Vice Principal Sarada had been searching for the two students after noticing they had wandered away from the main group.

As she approached a narrow path between the rocks, she suddenly heard frightened voices.

Curious, she carefully stepped closer.

Then she froze.

Her breathing stopped.

From behind the rocks…

She witnessed everything.

The murder…

The terrified victim…

Vinod…

The bloodstained weapon…

Her entire body trembled uncontrollably.

She instinctively covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming.

The camera slowly moved closer to her terrified eyes.

Director Hari whispered from behind the monitor,

“Hold it…”

“Hold the fear…”

Shari S.’s performance was remarkable.

Without saying a single word, she conveyed absolute terror.

Even several crew members watching the monitor felt chills.

Finally—

“Cut!”

Silence filled the location.

For several seconds…

Nobody spoke.

Then applause erupted throughout the forest.

Director Hari stood up immediately.

“Outstanding.”

“Exactly what I wanted.”

He walked over and congratulated Shari S.

“That expression alone tells the audience everything.”

The actress smiled modestly.

“Thank you.”

The production continued through the afternoon, filming additional shots of Teja and Ananya returning to the campsite, laughing innocently while discussing the photographs they had taken.

The contrast between their cheerful conversation and the crime they had unknowingly captured created exactly the emotional tension Director Hari had envisioned.

As sunset approached, the crew shifted to the final scene scheduled for the day.

Inside a carefully constructed darkroom set, Teja began developing the photographs from the excursion while Ananya stood beside him, curious to see the results.

The chemicals slowly revealed each photograph one by one.

Beautiful landscapes…

Birds…

Trees…

Waterfalls…

Then…

One particular photograph emerged.

Teja frowned.

“Wait…”

He carefully lifted the print closer to the light.

Ananya stepped beside him.

“What happened?”

Without answering, Teja reached for a magnifying glass.

He studied the lower corner of the photograph.

His expression slowly changed.

Confusion…

Disbelief…

Shock.

Ananya looked through the magnifying glass herself.

Her face immediately lost all color.

In the distance…

Barely visible…

Stood Vinod beside the lifeless body of his victim.

The room fell silent.

Neither child could believe what they were seeing.

Director Hari quietly leaned forward.

This was the emotional cliffhanger he had been waiting to create.

Before either of them could say another word—

“Cut!”

He smiled with satisfaction.

“We’ll continue tomorrow.”

Ram and Shruthi exchanged glances.

They already knew…

The next schedule would begin the true heart of the thriller.

Until now…

The story had belonged to childhood.

From here onward…

It would belong to courage, danger, and justice.

To Be Continued…
