She closed her eyes and opened them again, hoping that the words in the message would change, but that did not happen.

It was a message from Shona.

Auntie Becker is in the hospital.”

“Her condition has worsened.”

Tears blurred her vision, how could things go this bad.

She pushed herself down from the bed but was caught by Alistair.

At that point Zora cared less if her legs hurt or not, the only thing that was in her mind was Auntie Becker.

Alistair saw her moist eyes which made him frown slightly.

He hesitated for some seconds before asking.

“What’s the matter?”

Zora tilted her head to look at him,

“I need to go… to go to the city hospital.”

Although she spoke softly Alistair still felt the urgency hidden in her voice.

Zora’s eyes went to her leg, if she wasn’t on the wheelchair she would have run out long ago, she shifted her eyes from her leg to Alistair who was staring at her.

She made up her mind as she spoke again.

“Please could you take me there… please it’s really important…”

Alistair said nothing, Zora sobbed as she continued to plead with him.

“Please… all I want is just a ride there please.”

Alistair looked away.

Zora saw his action and wiped her tears.

If he did not want to help her that was just fine, she would look for someone who would.

She decided to wheel herself to Doctor Patrick’s office.

When Alistair saw her wheeling toward the door, he did not say a word until the door opened and then closed.

Once she left, Alistair made a call to Kane.

Zora knocked on Doctor Patrick’s office door even though the nurses refused to let her see him.

But because she was brought in by a big shot they could not help but let her knock.

Doctor Patrick opened the door and saw Zora seated on her wheelchair, her eyes teary.

He let her in.

Before he could ask her what the problem was, Zora burst into tears.

“Wooooh… You… you asked me to live for something… woooo!!”

“But the person I want to live for is about to die…”

Doctor Patrick looked at her.

Although she was crying he couldn’t help but think of her as a drama queen.

He drew out tissue from the tissue box next to him and handed it to Zora.

“If you don’t tell me what happened… how am I going to help you?”

When she was done she looked up at Patrick with her teary, puffy eyes.

“I… just want to go and see her…”

She was about to ask for a ride but Doctor Patrick spoke first.

“Don’t worry, I’ll ask someone to bring her here.”

Doctor Patrick observed her perplexed expression, he continued.

“You don’t have to worry about the bills.”

Although she did not want to owe him any favors, because of what she had gone through at the hands of Viktor she wanted to be careful.

But she couldn’t gamble with Auntie Becker’s life, so she would pay him back when she got back on her feet.

Zora thanked him and wheeled out of his office.

When she left, Patrick leaned back on his chair and sighed.

He then made a call to Alistair.

“She just left my office.”

There was some silence on the other end, then Alistair spoke.

“Did you tell her anything?”

Patrick shook his head.

“No, I didn’t.

But why don’t you want her to know?”

“It’s none of your business.

Stick to being a doctor.”

“Beep!

Beep!”

The call ended.

Patrick glared at his phone for a few seconds as if the phone were representing Alistair.

“What’s his problem?”

When Zora had wheeled herself out of the VIP room, Alistair made a call to Kane.

“Go bring her auntie.”

Kane did not have to ask whose auntie, because he already knew who Alistair was referring to.

“Do it discreetly.

Leave no clues.”

“Okay, boss.”

His eyes briefly went to the door.

“Have you been able to locate the bastard?”

“Yes boss.

But boss, there’s someone behind him.”

“Who?”

“The identity is hidden, but we will dig deeper.”

He then called Doctor Patrick.

“She’s coming to your office.”

“Who?…

Who is coming?”

Unlike Kane, Patrick was clueless and oblivious to who Alistair was referring to.

Alistair hissed.

“Are you that dumb?

Who else?”

Patrick still did not understand.

“Just tell me who you are talking about and stop insulting me.”

Alistair did not want to waste his time on Patrick.

“I want you to do something for me…”

“How can you just switch without telling me who is coming?”

Alistair felt the need to throw his phone at the wall, but unfortunately his phone was not Patrick.

He sighed.

“When she comes in tell her you’ll bring her auntie to the hospital.

She shouldn’t worry about the bills.”

“Beep!

Beep!”

He ended the call after instructing Patrick on what to do.

Patrick on the other hand was about to curse at Alistair, but before he could Alistair ended the call.

Then came loud knocks on his office door.

“Bang!

Bang!

Bang!”

He rushed to open the door, thinking it was Alistair, only to see a crying Zora seated on her wheelchair.

That was when it made sense to him that the “she” Alistair was talking about was actually Zora.

Zora had been wheeling herself back and forth at the reception downstairs.

Every patient that was brought in made Zora’s heart race.

She did that for a long time until Patrick came to reassure her that her auntie would be brought in safely.

Then some nurses took her to the VIP ward to rest, but even there Zora was not at rest.

She would check the wall clock every ten seconds, and when she heard footsteps her eyes would quickly dart to the door.

This happened until she fell asleep.

Hours later, Zora was told by Patrick that Auntie Becker had been brought to the hospital.

She wheeled herself as fast as she could.

When she got to the hospital room the faces she saw made her freeze in place.
