Later that evening, Zora had a physiotherapy session for her legs, the lady looked at her with a smile.
“You have beautiful legs.”
Zora wasn’t expecting such a compliment, but a smile escaped her lips,
“Thanks”
After she applied a balm on Zora’s legs, she then said.
“You should be able to walk in a few days.”
Zora thanked her again before leaving.
Zora then wheeled herself to her auntie’s room, she sat there for long without saying anything, her hands wrapped around auntie Becker’s hand, she wondered what kind of sickness affects the heart even after a heart transplant, her eyes got wet again when she looked at her auntie’s face, half of her face still covered with an oxygen mask, although she had been stabilized, but because of how strong the attack was she went unconscious, if she had been taken to the hospital late, then that would have led to something that might break Zora.
Few minutes later a nurse opened the door and then told Zora that she needed to go back to her own ward, Zora nodded and wheeled herself out of the room and back to her own room.
It was a good thing that Doctor Patrick also had a special connection to the medication, that means that Viktor will no longer threaten her about not paying for the medication.
The only thing that Zora needs to do is to pay Viktor back all that she owes, she carried her phone, turned it on and then went to her bank app to check how much she had left in her account she sighed at the ridiculous amount left, it wasn’t even enough to pay a quarter of the amount she owed, her mind then went back to the bar where she works, although she had been absent for a few days, maybe if she goes there the next day while seated on her wheelchair then Maximilian would understand that she had been hospitalized and that was the reason she couldn’t go to work.
It sounded like a good plan, but she still hoped it’ll work.
The next morning, after a nurse came to check up on her, she then bathed and got dressed.
Zora wheeled herself out of the hospital, it was really hard to get a cab.
“Going somewhere?”
She heard a female voice, she tilted her head to the side only to see a face pop out of the driver’s window.
The woman removed the sunshade she was wearing.
“I can offer you a ride if you don’t mind.”
Zora looked around her, and then pointed to herself.
“Are you talking to me?”
The lady smiled.
“Of course pretty, there’s no other beautiful woman seated on a wheelchair, is there?”
Zora scrutinized the car, it wasn’t a regular cab car, it looked more like a Bentley.
The lady laughed when she saw Zora’s reaction.
“Com’on don’t be ridiculous.
She opened the car door and got out.
“At least doing a good deed for my fellow beautiful woman is not a crime, is it?”
Zora smiled, she had spotted the lady’s finger which had a diamond ring on it, and her dress looked like a customized expensive dress.
“I’d be honored, thank you for seeing my struggle.”
The lady covered her mouth with her hand elegantly as she smiled.
“Please don’t, I’m the one thrilled to have a beautiful lady like you ride with me.”
She then went to help push Zora’s wheelchair even though it was an electric kind.
Zora could not help but smile.
Of course who would throw away such a good offer, especially when she can’t make use of her legs, the lady helped her into the car and then they drove to the bar at Max.
Zora was helped out of the car and then sat in her wheelchair, she thanked the lady and then turned to wheel herself out of the parking lot to the bar only to see Maximilian standing in front of her.
Maximilian saw a woman struggling to help the other out of the car so he wanted to offer a helping hand, only for him to hear the lady’s voice who was being helped out of the car, his legs got stuck to the ground so that he couldn’t take another step forward or backwards, he had gone abroad for business and had just returned a few days ago because his manager kept reporting to him that Zora wasn’t coming to work, he tried calling Zora during those days but her number wasn’t going through.
Seeing how Zora was helped into a wheelchair wasn’t how Maximilian had expected to see her.
When Zora saw Maximilian standing in front of her, his blazer in his hand,
She blinked and then looked down at her hands that were playing with the hem of her top.
“Why are you seated on that thing?”
Maximilian did not want to accept that Zora was now crippled, how could such a young girl go through so many bad things?
Their first meeting she had blood covering half of her face, their second meeting she was being harassed by Doga and his friends, now she’s seated on a wheelchair.
Zora smiled awkwardly, she was about to apologize for not coming to work for the past few days, but before she could, Maximilian walked behind her and started pushing her forward.
She cocked her head slightly, but then he said.
“Let’s go inside to talk, the sun is too hot.”
Zora nodded, and then allowed him to push her inside.
Because Maximilian was avoiding unnecessary attention he decided to follow a special entry, Zora recognized it immediately as they entered, her face turned bright red, but then changed to black.
She remembered that she and Alistair had followed this place to leave for the hotel that day but then she also remembered how she almost lost a rib because he thought she drugged him.
She spat under her breath.
“Bastard.”
Maximilian looked at her, and asked.
He did not hear what she said clearly.
Zora tilted her head.
“Ohh, I uhm … I said beautiful.”
She then smiled, Maximilian looked around the entry and wondered what’s beautiful about the place, it’s just walls painted black and a bulb light that gives light to the place.
“Hmm.” he hummed
And continued to push her forward.
When they got to his office, he hung his blazer on the valet stand next to the bookshelf.
He then sat on his chair and gave her a questioning look.
“You did not answer my question earlier, why are you seated on that thing?”
“What happened to you?”
Zora sighed and then looked down at her feet,
“I don’t know.”
Maximilian arched an eyebrow.
“You don’t know?”
It was slightly embarrassing but she really did not know what happened to her, she looked up at Maximilian.
“I was at a banquet then I woke up in the hospital, and then was given a wheelchair to sit on…”
“And that’s why I couldn’t come to work.”
Maximilian leaned forward,
“But are..
are you crip..
crippled now?”
He did not know how that question came out but he was sure that it was awful.
Zora’s eyes widened, “huh?
No, no, I’m not crippled, I just can’t walk for some time, the physiotherapist said I would be able to walk in a few days.”
When Maximilian heard what she said, he sighed internally, he had been really worried about how she’d cope with being crippled, then he looked back at her, what was she doing at a banquet that caused her to be taken to the hospital, but he couldn’t ask her that, it might sound stupid if he did.
After spending some time in Maximilian’s office Zora wheeled herself out, when she wheeled out of the special entrance, she saw Miller standing with a woman, Zora looked carefully at the woman, the face she saw made her go cold.
