Noticing his linе оf sight, Сеn Wan follоwеd his gаzе to the sеcоnd-floor studу but found nothing unusuаl. She askеd, “Is something wrong?”

It’s nоthing.

It wаs аlmost dinnеrtimе when the two rеturned frоm оutside. Fathеr Cen glаncеd аt thеm and shоok his heаd. Mothеr Сеn finished preparing the meal аnd сalled everуоne over tо еat.

At the dining table, Cen Wan first served her parents some dishes. Mother Cen couldn’t help but tease her.

Cen Wan simply smiled and placed more food into the plate in front of Lu Beixun. “Dad is so lucky to have married a culinary goddess like Mom.”

She said this to Lu Beixun.

Lu Beixun’s expression softened. “Yes, Dad is very fortunate.”

Mother Cen felt a bit embarrassed by the praise, but Father Cen was dissatisfied. “My little cotton-padded jacket has sprung a leak.”

“You and Dad are both lucky. I was fortunate enough to marry your mother and have you and Luoluo. And you—you’ve started a family too, marrying Beixun.”

Cen Xiu, who hadn’t been mentioned, momentarily darkened his expression, but no one noticed.

Aside from the presence of an unwelcome person at the table, the meal was quite enjoyable. Throughout dinner, Lu Beixun served her food many times.

As the meal drew to a close, Cen Wan leaned close to Lu Beixun’s ear and whispered, “Thank you for marrying me.”

Lu Beixun was taken aback for a moment. He glanced at her, his thin lips pressed together without a word. Cen Wan didn’t mind and simply smiled at him.

In her twenty-two years of life, whether during her naive youth or her university years, falling in love and getting married had never been part of her plans.

Marriage was something she thought she’d consider only after turning thirty. She never imagined she’d marry at twenty-two, let alone fall for someone.

With Lu Beixun present, Cen Xiu seemed almost invisible. After dinner, he excused himself, claiming he had matters to attend to.

Cen Wan and Lu Beixun stayed until eight o’clock before leaving and returning to the Lu residence.

Cen Wan unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car, extending her hand toward Lu Beixun.

Seeing her outstretched hand, Lu Beixun hesitated for two seconds before taking it and leading her toward the living room.

Cen Wan smiled, her lips pressed together, feeling as if her heart had been coated in honey.

As they entered the living room, Aunt Yang saw their tightly clasped hands and paused for a few seconds before leaving. Staying there would only be in the way—she had enough tact for that, or she wouldn’t deserve her job.

Upstairs, her room and Lu Beixun’s were in opposite directions. The atmosphere grew awkward for a moment. Cen Wan self-consciously tucked her hair behind her ear. “Um… I’ll head back to my room.”

She regretted saying it as soon as the words left her mouth. What was she being so reserved for? Could reserve put food on the table or help her keep Lu Beixun?

Lu Beixun’s expression remained unreadable. “Mm.”

At that moment, Cen Wan just wanted to slap herself.

Lu Beixun stood still, not leaving—likely waiting for her to go first.

“Um, I was just being a little reserved,” Cen Wan mustered her courage, grabbing the hem of his suit jacket and giving it a gentle tug. “I want to sleep in your room, with you.”

Was that so hard to say? If only she’d said it earlier—this was what she truly wanted. Without taking the initiative, there would be no story, let alone any “accidents.”

Seeing Lu Beixun remain silent, she cautiously tested the waters in a soft, pleading voice. “Is that okay? Gege.”

As soon as the word “gege” left her lips, Cen Wan felt goosebumps all over, but she endured it. They say men can’t resist a sweet “gege.”

Cen Wan’s usual speaking voice was already soft, but with her affected tone, it became even softer and sweeter, sending a tremor through Lu Beixun’s heart. He found himself agreeing under her hopeful gaze.

Now, looking at the delicate girl before him, he forgot that they were supposed to divorce in a year. He had tried hard to control himself, to keep his distance, to let her go and give her freedom.

But once she acted coquettishly and looked at him with pitiful eyes, he surrendered completely. He could never bring himself to be harsh with her, whether in the past or the future.

Cen Wan had prepared herself for Lu Beixun’s rejection, but she never expected that calling him “brother” would work so magically. Overjoyed, she gave a little jump, wrapped her arms around his neck, and looped her slender legs around his narrow, powerful waist.

“Brother, you’re so good,” she said, this time without putting on a cutesy voice.

What she didn’t know was how much more this genuine tone moved Lu Beixun compared to her usual affected one.

It felt like a soft feather brushing across his heart. Afraid she might lose her grip and fall, Lu Beixun reached to remove her legs, but before he could touch her, Cen Wan jumped down from him. A flicker of disappointment passed through his dark eyes.

“Don’t lock the door,” Cen Wan said with a radiant smile. “I’m going back to my room to grab a set of pajamas.”

In truth, this time Cen Wan wasn’t worried he would lock the door.

Feeling incredibly happy, she skipped back to her room, just like a primary school student on their way home from school, humming a tune from some unknown song.

Watching her cheerful retreating figure, the corners of Lu Beixun’s lips lifted slightly.

She really seemed to have changed a lot…

He waited until she entered her room before turning to go back to his own.

Cen Wan spent over ten minutes in her room. She didn’t just take one set of pajamas—she grabbed several, along with everyday clothes, and moved them all to his room first.

When she arrived in his room, he was in the bathroom. Seizing the opportunity, Cen Wan went back to gather her toiletries and skincare products, especially perfume, which was absolutely essential.

During the time Lu Beixun was in the bathroom, Cen Wan practically moved her entire belongings over, short of bringing the furniture along.

However, his bedroom was spacious enough that even if she brought the furniture, it would fit without feeling crowded.

After more than a dozen trips back and forth, her stamina gave out. She sat on the edge of the bed, panting. She usually didn’t exercise at all—she had a driver for outings, and her petite frame lacked any real training.

If it weren’t for this moving spree, she would never have realized how weak her body was. At that moment, she made a resolution: wake up at six and run on the treadmill for forty minutes.

Otherwise, with her weak physique, if Lu Beixun ever ran away, she wouldn’t even be able to catch up.

Lying on the bed, she sighed silently. As if exercising would actually help her catch up—at most, it would just give her a fighting chance.

Suddenly, she remembered something and sat up abruptly. If she recalled correctly, Lu Beixun went to the gym to work out after waking up.

Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity? She had to seize it.

When Lu Beixun came out of the bathroom and saw the bed covered with her clothes, he was momentarily stunned.

Following his gaze to the bed, Cen Wan remembered that Lu Beixun not only had a cleanliness obsession but also suffered from OCD—his room had to be perfectly tidy, and the bed had to be spotless except for the pillows and blankets.

Afraid he would dislike it, she quickly said, “I’ll clean it up right away.”

Lu Beixun walked over, naturally drying his hair with a towel. “Go freshen up first.”

A few drops of water still clung to his neck, and as he spoke, his Adam’s apple bobbed, looking incredibly seductive. Cen Wan stared, mesmerized—to her, this was practically an invitation to commit a crime.

Scenes of passion flashed through her mind.Cen Wan shook her head. She urgently needed a packet of cleaning powder and stumbled over her words: “Um… I’ll take a shower first.”

“Clean up after you’re done.”
