The wine bottle smashed into Chen Xuan’s head in an instant, leaving him bloodied and battered!

The girls screamed, while the boys cursed in shock, rushing forward to pull them apart.

But the man dressed in black, his face obscured, was like a rabid dog—impossible to restrain!Full novel: Sweet Little Darling Beckons, The Gloomy Boss Loses Control — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He kicked away anyone who charged at him, his fists pounding relentlessly into Chen Xuan’s face, each blow splattering blood everywhere!

“Security!! Where’s security?!”

“Where did this lunatic come from?!”

The scene descended into chaos.

Yan Sui was also startled, but she reacted quickly, immediately jumping behind the sofa.

Finding the safest spot, she watched the unfolding scene in astonishment.

She saw Lin Qi roar as he raised a wine bottle and smashed it hard against the man’s back.

Yet the man didn’t even cry out in pain. Instead, he turned around, grabbed the broken glass, and without hesitation stabbed it toward Lin Qi!

Lin Qi stumbled backward, falling to the ground. Clutching his arm, he gritted his teeth and gasped, too afraid to approach again.

Five boys couldn’t hold back this uninvited guest.

While marveling at the scene, Yan Sui tried to get a clear look at the man’s face.

Unfortunately, he was dressed entirely in black, wearing a baseball cap and a mask, and he never once turned to face her.

All she could see was his tense back, broad shoulders, and narrow waist.

No one dared to intervene anymore, praying for security to arrive quickly.

Why were the security guards so slow today?!

The man’s fists kept pounding, as if he felt no pain at all.

Blow after blow, Chen Xuan had stopped struggling.

“Um.” The young girl spoke up, seemingly oblivious to the situation.

Her voice was soft, yet the man heard it.

He flinched violently, his fist veering off course and slamming into the ground.

It sounded painful.

“Um, he looks a bit dead.” Yan Sui offered a friendly reminder.

She didn’t think her reminder would actually help.

But surprisingly, it did.

The man seemed to snap out of a trance, his movements freezing.

The sound of security guards’ footsteps finally drew near.

The man abruptly stood up, swaying slightly. His back heaved violently with rapid breaths, and his blood-drenched fingertips trembled visibly.

Was he afraid?

If he was so scared of being caught by security, why cause trouble in the first place?

Yan Sui couldn’t understand, but she was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.

Just before the security guards entered, the man strode out.

From start to finish, he never once glanced in Yan Sui’s direction.

“You finally showed up!!” Lin Qi clutched his injured arm, cursing in a mix of extreme fear and rage.

“What were you doing?! Why did a lunatic come here to cause trouble?!”

“Catch that guy! I’m going to kill him!”

“Call an ambulance!”

“Dad! We got beaten up by a madman at the bar. Come here now!”

…

These young masters and misses had never seen anything like this before, and they were thrown into complete disarray.

Fortunately, the security guards were well-trained. They silently endured the insults and handled the situation swiftly.

In less than ten minutes, the scene was cleared, and everyone was sent to the hospital.

Including Yan Sui.

As she walked out of the private room, she glanced around, but the troublemaker was long gone.

Although he seemed like a violent lunatic, he had at least helped her save what little medicinal powder she had left. So, she hoped he wouldn’t get caught.

On the ambulance, the young girl sat beside Lin Qi, her heart aching with worry as she looked at him.

“Does it hurt?”

Lin Qi’s arm was excruciatingly painful, but when he saw Yan Sui’s beautiful face, he steeled himself and said, “It doesn’t hurt.”

Soon they reached the emergency room. While the doctor was treating the wound, he couldn’t hold back the pain any longer, cold sweat streaming down his face.

Yan Sui felt a bit sleepy, yawned, and walked out.

Just as she reached the hospital corridor, she saw Lin Jian and He Wan hurrying over.

“Have you called the police? Have they found the person?” He Wan shot Yan Sui a fierce glare before striding into the ward.

Lin Jian didn’t even glance at her.

The two of them gathered around the bed, anxiously asking about their precious son’s condition.

The previous mother-son conflict was nothing compared to blood ties.

Their warm concern and the worry on their faces were genuine, not an act.

A family of three, lively and close-knit.

Yan Sui stood at the door, expressionless as she watched the scene inside, momentarily dazed.

Just then, He Wan suddenly thought of something and pointed at Yan Sui:

“Was it her who took you to a place like a bar?”

Lin Qi was taken aback: “No, I took her there.”

He Wan sneered: “You’ve lived this long without any trouble. Why is it that when you’re with Yan Sui, something like this happens?

“She must have gotten involved with some shady people.

“She hasn’t been back for long, and she’s already making you take her to bars. Who knows what she’s scheming?”

Yan Sui’s eyes instantly reddened, and she spoke word by word:

“I know you don’t like me as your stepdaughter, but you can’t humiliate me like this!

“My only wish is to live like a normal person, to have a family and go to school normally.”

Her voice was louder than intended, drawing the attention of several people nearby, who looked at He Wan with strange glances.

He Wan laughed angrily: “What do you mean? Are you saying I’ve mistreated you?”

“Enough!” Lin Qi frowned. “Mom, I told you it’s not her fault. Why do you keep targeting her?”

He Wan took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and forced a smile as she looked at Lin Qi:

“Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. You rest well. Mom will step out for a moment.”

She had learned to be smarter.

Lin Jian, his face stern, said to Yan Sui:

“Come out.”

The ward door closed, separating the inside from the outside.

Now, standing in the corridor was also a family of three.

But as the father, Lin Jian showed none of the concern he had displayed earlier—only scrutiny.

“I’ve frozen your card. You better behave.”

Yan Sui’s eyes widened.

She was already poor, and the monthly allowance she received was less than what Lin Qi spent on a single night at the bar.

Now she wasn’t getting anything at all?

He Wan looked at Yan Sui’s expression with satisfaction and sneered:

“First, there was that mysterious dress out of nowhere.

“Now it’s going to bars, causing my son to get hurt.

“I told you, you’re just not well-behaved, too easily led astray.”

Lin Jian: “Exactly. Reflect on your actions these next few days. When you start behaving properly, I might give you some pocket money.”

With that, he waved his hand, turned, and entered the ward: “Go home. Tomorrow evening, behave better.”

He didn’t give Yan Sui a chance to speak, closing the door directly.

Separated by the door, the sounds of care and concern resumed inside.

The young girl stood outside the door, silent for a moment.

Someone couldn’t hold back and walked over, patting Yan Sui on the shoulder.

“Little girl, there are always parents like this in the world. Study hard and break free from them.”

Yan Sui looked up and smiled: “Thank you, Auntie~”

Ah, such a sweet and well-behaved girl. How did she end up with a stepmother like this and a scumbag father?

Yan Sui walked alone on her way home.

So poor.

The last bit of medicinal powder she had brought back from the Godfather was now completely used up.

When she had faced Lin Jian and his wife earlier, she couldn’t resist using it on them.

It wasn’t particularly effective—just enough to make people lose control of their emotions for a short while, causing nightmares. Better than nothing, she supposed.

The Godfather had plenty of stock, but she had taken almost none when she left, thinking she could make it as needed.

Who would have thought that even after returning to a wealthy family, she would still find herself in such dire straits?

Now, she couldn’t even afford the raw materials.

The young girl sighed deeply and, without realizing it, passed by Muse Lounge.

Outside, it remained as low-key and luxurious as ever—the earlier commotion hadn’t left a single trace here.

She wondered if the culprit had been caught yet.

Meanwhile, inside the private room.

A man sat in the exact spot Yan Sui had occupied earlier, his blood-crusted fingertips cradling the glass she had drunk from.

Enchanted, lost, he slowly and tenderly traced the rim of the glass.

After a long moment, his trembling fingers brought the glass to his lips.

Was it here? Had she taken a sip from this patterned side of the glass?

Closing his eyes, his lips brushed against the cold glass.

His Adam’s apple bobbed, and a suppressed, breathy sigh escaped his throat.

His brows were tightly furrowed, as if in agony, or perhaps in ecstasy.
