Derek didn’t stay down for long.
The smoking wound on his chest was already disappearing as he surged to his feet.
His sky-blue eyes flashed with cold rage.
He realized Leon’s laser attack was flashy, but lacked the raw piercing power to truly put him away.
I’ll teach these two a lesson, Derek thought.
Leon braced himself.
Since he was close to Derek, Leon’s Lv3 Super Speed kicked in, blurring his movement as he lunged forward with a heavy right hook.
To an ordinary human, the punch would be hard to follow.
To Derek, a born werewolf with perfect control and much higher physical stats, the attack looked like it was in slow motion.
Derek didn’t even bother dodging.
He read the trajectory, raised his forearm to easily deflect the blow, and countered with a blindingly fast palm strike straight to Leon’s chest.
The impact sounded like a car crash.
Leon’s Lv3 Super Defense kept his ribs from shattering, but the sheer kinetic force lifted him off his feet and sent him flying away, falling hard into the dirt.
“Leon!” Scott yelled.
Seeing his friend get swatted away moved something in Scott’s panicked mind.
The terror of losing control gave way to desperate adrenaline.
His fangs slid out, his claws ready, and with an uncoordinated, animalistic roar, he sprinted at Derek.
Scott didn’t know how to fight — he simply threw his entire weight forward like a feral beast.
Derek didn’t even turn around.
He sidestepped Scott’s wild tackle, grabbed him by the back of his shirt, and used Scott’s own momentum to slam him face-first into the ground.
The asphalt broke loudly.
Scott groaned, completely disoriented from the impact, struggling to find his footing.
“Is that all you’ve got?” Derek growled, turning back to Leon, who was already pushing himself up.
Leon realized his physical stats were completely outmatched.
He couldn’t compete with Derek’s speed or raw strength.
I need to distance myself, Leon thought, his Lv3 Super Senses screaming at him as Derek closed the distance in a fraction of a second.
Derek lunged, his claws sweeping in a deadly arc.
Leon threw his head back by instinct, feeling the wind of the claws miss his nose by millimeters.
He didn’t waste the opening.
At point-blank range, Leon’s eyes flashed a violent red.
BZZT.
Twin beams of concussive laser energy exploded from his retinas.
Because they were so close, Derek couldn’t dodge.
The blast hit Derek squarely in the face and throat.
The heat singed Derek’s jaw, and the concussive force sent him staggering backward, blindly clutching his burning face.
“Scott!
Now!” Leon roared, his eyes throbbing with intense strain.
Using his Laser Eyes twice in a row at Lv1 was severely draining his energy.
Scott, fueled by pure adrenaline, felt a sudden burst of energy.
His facial features shifted further into a wolf-like state.
He lunged from the ground, the wound on his head already healing, catching Derek off-balance.
Scott buried his claws deep into Derek’s ribs and bit down hard on his shoulder.
Derek snarled in genuine pain, his perfect control slipping for a split second.
With a brutal backfist, Derek smashed Scott across the face, breaking the hold and sending Scott rolling across the lawn, coughing up blood.
But the distraction worked.
Leon used his remaining strength to rush forward, delivering a heavy kick directly into Derek’s wounded ribs.
A loud CRACK echoed through the street as a couple of Derek’s ribs fractured.
Derek gasped, dropping to one knee, coughing.
The combination of the laser burns on his face and the broken ribs left him visibly breathing heavily.
However, the victory was short-lived.
Derek’s sky-blue eyes glared up through the darkness, filled with absolute, icy irritation.
His werewolf healing was already working overtime, knitting his ribs back together.
He stood up slowly, wiping blood from his jaw.
“Cute,” Derek muttered, his voice dropping into a deadly, calm register.
Before Leon could even blink, Derek vanished from his sight.
A heavy boot planted itself into Leon’s stomach, flipping him through the air.
Before Leon landed, Derek grabbed him by the throat, lifting him effortlessly.
With a vicious downward throw, Derek slammed Leon into the asphalt, completely knocking the wind out of him.
Leon’s Lv3 Super Defense kept him alive, but his body felt like it was encased in lead.
He couldn’t move.
Scott tried to drag himself up to help, but Derek walked over and casually planted a heavy foot onto Scott’s chest, pinning the young werewolf effortlessly to the grass.
The fight was over.
Leon and Scott lay completely defeated, bruised, and broken on the ground.
Derek stood over them, panting heavily, his torn jacket dripping with blood and his face severely blistered from the lasers.
He had won, but he was in no shape to celebrate.
Derek looked down at Scott, then shifted his gaze to Leon, his expression a mix of wariness and deep confusion.
“Saturday,” Derek warned, his voice raspy from the burn.
“Stay off the field.
Both of you.
Or next time, I won’t hold back.”
With a swift fluid motion, Derek vanished into the shadows, leaving the two boys bleeding in the dark.

[Altered: Derek Hale violently corners Scott McCall, prompting an immediate intervention from Leon.
A brutal, powered-up three-way battle erupts in the street.
Despite Derek’s perfect control and superior skills leading to an absolute victory, Leon’s Laser Eyes and Scott’s sudden, desperate support leave Derek visibly injured and wary.]
[Impact: Leon and Scott are left completely defeated on the asphalt, but their unexpected resistance forces Derek to respect their lethal potential rather than viewing them as helpless kids.
A deep curiosity and caution are planted in Derek’s mind regarding Leon’s bizarre, non-werewolf abilities.]

The roar of the fight had shattered the quiet neighborhood.
The explosive cracks of Leon’s lasers, the crunch of feet on gravel, and the heavy thuds of bodies hitting the asphalt echoed loudly through the dark street.
Upstairs in Scott’s bedroom, the light was on.
Melissa McCall stood framed in the shattered window, her face pale as she looked down at the street.
Her chest heaved with shock.
Down below, her son lay bleeding on the grass, and Leon was sprawled out on the pavement, completely broken.
“Scott!” Melissa screamed, her voice cracking with terror.
She vanished from the window.
A second later, the front door threw open, and she sprinted across the lawn, dropping to her knees beside Scott.
She pulled him into her arms as she checked the blood on his face.
In the distance, the faint, rising wail of police sirens began to cut through the night air.
***********
Inside the living room, the atmosphere was thick with tension.
Melissa sat on the edge of the coffee table, her hands shaking as she used a wet washcloth to clean the blood from Scott’s face.
Leon sat on the couch nearby, holding an ice pack to his ribs.
Melissa froze, the washcloth hovering in the air.
Right before her eyes, the deep gash on Scott’s cheek stopped bleeding.
The edges of the skin puckered, knit together, and smoothed over into flawless skin within seconds.
She looked over at Leon, whose deep purple bruises were already fading back to his normal skin tone.
She pulled her hands back, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock, confusion, and raw fear.
She looked at her son as if he were a stranger.
“Mom…” Scott said meekly, his voice trembling as he saw the look of terror in her eyes.
Leon, seeing how crushed Scott looked by his mother’s reaction, leaned forward to speak up.
“Mrs.
McCall, it’s not what you think.
We’re still us.
We just…
got caught up in something dangerous.”
A heavy, authoritative knock on the front door cut him off.
The police had arrived. New chapters come out on g.com first.
Sheriff Stilinski and a couple of deputies spent twenty minutes questioning them, but they got nowhere.
Leon and Scott stuck firmly to a fabricated story: an unknown vandal had thrown a rock through the window, and when they ran outside to check, they found absolutely nothing.
Melissa, Scott’s mom, was very difficult to convince to lie with them, but when Leon said that people would put them on a dissection table if this got out, she instantly agreed.
Frustrated and finding nothing to report, the police finally left.
As the cruiser pulled away, the front door burst open again.
It was Stiles.
He had been watching the computer screen waiting for the buffering to end, and when it did, he saw no one was in the room anymore, but the moment he saw his father get an emergency dispatch call to Scott neighborhood, Stiles knew exactly where he was going and followed the cruiser straight to Scott’s place.
Stiles shut the door behind him, pacing around the living room as he looked at Scott, Leon, and Melissa.
“I saw him for a split second,” Stiles whispered, his voice tense.
“On the camera.
It was Derek.
What the hell happened out there?” Stiles was terrified by the broken street, and as for the blood, Leon quickly shoved anything that had blood on it into his Spatial Pocket before the cops got there.
The room went completely silent as the four of them sat together in the dim light, the weight of the supernatural world finally crashing down on the McCall household.
It took a long time to catch Melissa up on everything, including the existence of vampires, which culminated in Leon showing her the horrifying mummified corpse.
Leon wouldn’t forget the look on her face as he spent even more time explaining his Spatial Pocket and his Laser Vision.
“Wait!” Stiles cut in, his eyes darting between them.
“What laser vision?”
“This guy shoots actual lasers out of his eyes now,” Scott said, pointing a finger at Leon and shaking his head in sheer exasperation.
“Alright, you three,” Melissa spoke up, raising a hand to silence them.
“What you just told me sounds completely insane.” She took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice.
“If I hadn’t watched the two of you fighting that man with my own eyes, I probably would have had you committed to Eichen House.” She stood up, taking a long moment to pull herself together.
“From now on, before you do anything, you tell me.
No more starting fights with monsters when you don’t have to.
I…
I need some time to digest all of this.”
***********
Scott and Leon stood in the Coach’s office, shaking their heads.
The coach flatly refused to let them sit out the next game, loudly threatening to strip them of their first-line status.
Leon had completely expected it.
The desk phone rang a second later.
“Hello?” Coach Finstock snapped into the receiver.
“Mrs.
McCall?”
The trio had spoken to Scott’s mom earlier, asking her to make the call.
She had quickly agreed after understanding the danger of what might happen if her son played under stress, so they had scrambled to come up with a workable excuse.
“Scott’s grandmother’s neighbor passed away?” Coach looked up, staring at the two boys sitting in front of him with a thoroughly bewildered expression.
“Oh.
Alright, may she rest in peace.
Yes.
Okay, he can skip tomorrow’s match.
Alright, thank you.
Bye.”
Click.
“Scott, you can go.
You don’t have to play,” Coach said, running the ridiculous excuse through his head one more time.
“Go to your grandma’s neighbor’s funeral.
Jesus.” Then, he snapped his gaze toward Leon.
“But you’re playing.”
“Why?” Leon asked.
“Why the hell are you going to his grandma’s neighbor’s funeral too, Leon?
Get out of my office!”
***********
Scott and Leon walked side-by-side down the crowded hallway.
“You can play, can’t you?” Scott asked.
“Why are you trying to avoid it?”
“I just don’t feel like it,” Leon sighed, adjusting his backpack.
“We have way more important things to worry about right now.”
“I guess,” Scott admitted.
“But Coach didn’t even want to listen, so I guess you’re playing tomorrow.”
“Yeah, looks like it.” Leon had really wanted to sit this one out.
Since the team originally won this match in the show, he wanted to skip it and let them lose.
He figured altering the timeline like that would probably net him some juicy extra SE.
“Hey!”
Allison came jogging down the stairs.
She stopped right in front of Leon, taking a few tiny steps forward until she was standing so close he could smell her shampoo.
“Hey to you too,” Leon smiled.
He leaned in and gave her a quick kiss.
Allison blushed, pulling away with a small, pleased smile.
“I just wanted to tell you that I’m coming over to watch you play tomorrow,” she said a second later.
“And we’re all going out afterward.
You, me, Lydia, Jackson.
It’s gonna be great!
Tell Scott and Stiles to come too.” She offered a bright smile.
“Save me a seat at lunch, I gotta run to French class!”
She gave a quick wave and hurried down the hall.
***********
“Why is there a rumor that you’re not playing tomorrow?” Lydia asked, her voice quiet but sharp as she wrote a math formula on the blackboard.
“Because I’m not,” Scott whispered from his side as he wrote on the blackboard.
“I think you are,” she countered, turning her head to look at him.
“Especially after you brutally injured my boyfriend by ramming right into him.”
“He brutally injured himself ramming into me!” Scott hissed back, appalled, making a defensive face as he stared at her.
Lydia didn’t miss a beat.
“Jackson’s gonna play tomorrow.
But he’s not gonna be at his peak.
And I prefer my boyfriend at peak performance.”
“Okay…” Scott raised an eyebrow, completely failing to understand what any of this had to do with him.
“I date the captain of the winning lacrosse team,” Lydia explained the layout of her terms.
“If they start off the season losing, I date the captain of the losing team.
I don’t date losers.”
“Losing one game isn’t gonna kill anyone,” Scott took a deep breath, his mind flashing to Derek’s warning.
“In fact, it might even save someone…”
“Fine.
Don’t play.
We’ll probably win anyway,” Lydia huffed angrily, brushing a strand of strawberry-blonde hair out of her face.
“Then we’ll go out afterward, and Scott McCall can stay home, surfing the ‘net for porn.”
She turned away sharply and walked back toward her desk.
Leon, sitting a few rows back and listening to their quiet exchange, couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
‘The exact same speech,’ he thought.
‘Except this time she couldn’t threaten him using Allison, so she just huffed and walked away.
How cute.’
As Lydia finished writing and turned toward the aisle, her eyes suddenly met his.
Leon offered her a charming smile.
To his surprise, Lydia actually smiled back before smoothing her skirt and sitting down at her desk.
***********
Scott and Stiles approached Leon as he put some books into his locker.
“Hey,” Stiles spoke first.
“We need to do something about Derek!”
“My dad is setting a curfew, and they’re wasting their time looking for a wild animal,” Stiles continued.
“While the psycho who did it is still walking around out there — so we need to find the other half of the body.”
“How?” Leon asked.
“Ah—” Stiles was stumped for a second, then spoke.
“I thought you would have a magic spell that would reveal it!”
Leon shook his head.
“For now we can’t do anything.
Scott and I fought the guy and barely survived.
Not until Scott can control his powers better, and I get a bit stronger, we can’t do anything.”
“Maybe we can?” Scott spoke.
“He didn’t want to kill us.” He thought for a second.
“All of his attacks were brutal, but he didn’t land the finishing blow, plus he was warning us about the game and losing control.”
“So what?
He’s a good guy now?” Stiles said.
“He killed someone, Scott.”
“I know, I know,” Scott explained himself.
“What I mean is, he might not want to kill us.
Maybe he wants us to join him, so we might have some breathing room.” He paused, then added, “Let’s go to his house and look around, maybe the other half is there.”
The next events were similar to what happened in the show.
Due to Leon’s idea, Scott went to Derek’s house and started arguing with him, before Derek threw his lacrosse stick in the air and vanished like a magician.
***********
“Did you smell anything?” Leon and Stiles were in the jeep driving back.
“Yes, there’s something buried there and I can smell blood,” Scott explained.
“That’s awesome!” Stiles got excited for a second before correcting himself.
“I mean, that’s terrible — whose blood?”
“I don’t know,” Scott shrugged.
“But if we find out, your dad nails Derek for the murder — and that’s one less murderer off the street!”
“How do we know?” Stiles asked as he started thinking.
“We go to the hospital,” Leon said.
“And wolf boy here sneaks into the morgue and checks if the smell of the other half matches.”
“Great idea!” Stiles turned to Scott.
“Can you?”
“Ah,” Scott sighed.
“Sure, but why do we have to sneak in?”
“What do you mean?”
“My mom works at the hospital.
If we tell her our plan, she can help us get in,” Scott said.
“Great.”
***********
“You three are insane,” Melissa said, shaking her head.
“I can’t believe I’m even humoring this.”
“Thank you, Mom!” Scott smiled at her.
“Thank you!!” Leon and Stiles both spoke up.
“Yeah, sure,” Melissa sighed and looked toward the new kid.
“Leon, when will your parents come home?
Maybe later we should all sit down and tell Noah and your parents about all of this — they deserve to know too.”
“Maybe later, but not now, please,” Leon and Stiles both shook their heads.
Scott followed his mom into the morgue, while Leon and Stiles stayed outside.
As they looked around, they saw Lydia waiting in one of the seats.
Stiles immediately got both nervous and excited and had to turn around, leaning against the nearby reception desk to pull himself together.
“Oh, my God…” he groaned, then tried to surreptitiously look back at Lydia once again.
After a long moment, he couldn’t resist trying to talk to her.
Just then, in front of Leon, the same awkward conversation happened as the one in the show, and he couldn’t help but find Lydia a bit annoying at that moment.
Stiles sat back down, feeling embarrassed.
Leon sighed and walked toward Lydia.
The second she saw him, her eyebrows raised in surprise as she stood up.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” she asked.
“I came with Scott and Stiles,” Leon explained quickly, then frowned.
“Why did you treat Stiles that way?”
“What?
What did I do?” Lydia was confused, or acting like she was.
“Lydia,” Leon took a few steps toward her.
“Don’t act that way with me.” He looked her in the eyes.
“Stiles was just saying hi, maybe in his own awkward way, but you could have been nicer.
Be more gentle with him next time.” He said softly.
He didn’t step back.
Neither did she.
The space between them was inches away, and after smelling his cologne and feeling his breath, Lydia’s eyes had gone glassy the way they did when she was caught between two impulses — defend herself or lean in.
Her breathing had changed.
Her fingers had curled at her sides.
Leon tilted his head, slow, and let the distance close to almost nothing — close enough that her lips parted on instinct, close enough that the warmth of her breath hit his mouth.
He held it there.
Let the moment stretch.
Then he pulled back, already walking toward Stiles and sitting down next to him like nothing had happened.
“What the hell was that, man?” Stiles looked at him.
“Were you defending me or flirting?”
“Both.”
Lydia stood there, her breath uneven, staring at the back of his head.
She didn’t have a comeback for once.
That was new.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Jackson asked as he approached her, looking confused.
“N—nothing,” she stammered as she looked at him.
“Did he do it?”
The two talked, and though Leon blurred their conversation into the background, he caught something and couldn’t help but laugh.
Lydia and Jackson kissed, and Leon saw her eyes land on him as they did, as if saying, Watch me.
Leon shook his head.
As they were kissing, he grabbed his phone and sent a text.
Ding.
Lydia’s phone beeped, and as she and Jackson started leaving, she checked it.
(“I don’t like it, don’t do it again.”)
She huffed, put her phone away, and kept walking.
***********
“The scent was the same,” Scott said, walking out.
“You’re sure?”
“Yes.”
“So, he did bury the other half of the body on his property?”
“Which means we have proof he killed the girl.”
“Then you three find a way to make an anonymous report to Noah, and leave the rest to the cops, got it?” Melissa spoke from behind Scott.
“Of course,” Stiles said, nodding.
“Alright, you three be careful, please,” Melissa said before going back to work.
Scott waited for his mom to leave before turning to Stiles.
“We’re not making an anonymous report, are we?”
“Nope,” Stiles said.
“We know for sure now.
I say we use it.”
“How?”
“We’re gonna need a shovel.”
