BONUS CHAPTER
Nathan thought that he would hear, "Stop! Get on your knees!" But what he heard was only the sound of the gun firing and the bullet hitting his chest.
"Thump!"
The impact propelled him violently into the wall behind him. His head was still disoriented, but he took cover instinctively.
Although he could not see, he heard the footsteps of the other cop, so now he had to confront two of them.
"Get out and let us take you to the station!" The cop who shot him pointed his gun at the spot where Nathan was hiding and, at the same time, tried to lower his guard.
"Fuck you!" Nathan shouted from behind. He would be an idiot to think that they were real cops.
Even if they were, the moment they shot him, it didn't matter anymore. To him, there was no difference between a street thug trying to kill him and an officer; they were both enemies.
He concentrated on the inventory, and a gun suddenly appeared in his right hand and a knife in his left.
"Bang!"
Before the officer could respond, a bullet pierced his shoulder. "Aghhh!" He screamed in pain as his colleague hurriedly dragged him to take cover.
"Bang! Bang!" While walking backwards, the other officer fired in his direction, and Nathan had to stay put.
Behind some construction materials, the injured officer gritted his teeth in pain. "Call it in!"
"No! Are you crazy?! You know the consequences!" The other man was the same one who questioned Sara and her dad.
The injured officer put some pressure on his wound and stayed silent. He knew that his colleague was right; they weren't even supposed to be here.
"Mark! I will distract him! Go from behind." The injured man grimaced, but he had a resolute look. If they didn't finish their job, then they would be the ones to die.
"You…" Mark looked at his friend and partner of more than a decade and eventually agreed. "Just distract him, and don't die!"
Mark crouched down and left without saying anything else. What they didn't realize was that Nathan didn't just wait to die. He took a mirror, and through it, he saw Mark leaving that spot.
He looked down and saw a larger pipe heading directly towards the injured officer. Although it wasn't big enough to fit inside, it was enough to cover up his body.
Acting without hesitation, he went on his belly and started crawling towards the injured officer.
On the other side, seeing Mark finally leaving, the injured officer gritted his teeth and started shouting towards the direction that he still thought Nathan was in.
"Just surrender! This is for your own good! Don't make this harder for yourself!" The officer sneaked a peek, but he still didn't see Nathan.
"Shit!" He cursed as he knew they needed to hurry or else he would bleed to death. He could only pray that Mark would succeed.
Just as he was about to shout again, suddenly, he heard a sound to his left. When he looked over, just two meters away from him, he saw a pair of shining teeth smiling at him.
"What the fu..-Bang!" His words were cut short as a bullet made its way into his forehead. His eyes were still staring at Nathan in shock, then his body fell backwards to the ground.
Mark, who was about to reach Nathan's previous position, froze, then he looked back. "Jonathan!!" His voice cracked as he realized what happened.
Compared to the grieving Mark, Nathan felt the opposite, as a fragment flew straight into his body.
[Basic Firearms]
Current Progress: 55% -> 95%
Nathan was surprised when he felt the progress. This police officer gave him more than two of the kidnappers combined.
But he felt that it made sense since he had to be more skillful with firearms.
He didn't dwell too much on it and focused on the remaining officer. He was still in danger, so he had to be vigilant.
"Bang!"
"Whoosh!"
Suddenly, bullets rained down from the opposite side. Nathan felt one bullet almost touch his scalp, and he quickly took cover next to the dead body.
He waited patiently and didn't shoot like a maniac. Suddenly, an idea formed in his mind, and he looked at the dead body. "Well…it's not like you will mind, you're already dead."
Nathan grabbed the body and put his feet on its stomach. Gathering his strength, he pushed as hard as he could and threw it some distance away.
The moment that body came into sight, Mark shot it without hesitation. When he saw who it was, his face trembled in shock, and for a second he thought he had killed his partner.
In that moment, Nathan got up and raised his gun at him.
"Bang!"
