Nathan stroked her back to calm her down, and he looked at the other scared kids. "Don't worry, you will see your parents again."
His words made the other kids more reassured. He then looked back at the little girl. "What's your name?"
The girl looked into his eyes with her red eyes and answered, "M-my name is Sara! What is your name?"
Looking at those curious eyes, he shook his head. "I'm sorry, Sara. I can't tell you my name."
Sara's eyes dimmed, but then she glanced at him with a hint of intelligence in her little eyes. "Is it because the bad guys will find you?"
"That's right, you're a very smart girl." Nathan patted her head and praised her, which put a smile on her face.
"My dad says the same! I learned a lot from him!"
Just as Nathan was about to praise her again, he saw Sara stare behind him in shock. His body reacted instinctively and shielded her in his arms with one hand, and with the other, he grabbed the woman's collar and used her as a body shield.
"What?!" The woman screamed in shock.
"Bang! Bang!"
Bullets rained down on her body, and just as he thought he would be alright, a bullet managed to hit his back.
"Ugh!" He groaned in pain as he felt the shock on his back. He couldn't be sure if the bullet went in or the metal stopped it.
He then heard a clicking sound, and he immediately looked at the man on the stairs. He quickly reached for his gun and poured all his bullets into him.
Regardless of whether all of them hit, thankfully, at this distance, some still hit, and one of them even hit the man in the eye.
"Plea-."
Nathan looked at the woman in astonishment. She was still alive after being shot this many times. He then looked at Sara and whispered gently, "Close your eyes."
When she nodded and closed her eyes, Nathan turned his gaze back to the woman. He looked her straight in the eyes and raised his other gun.
Before the woman could beg, a bang resounded throughout the basement as silence followed once again.
He then hurriedly checked his back, and a sigh of relief escaped his mouth when he felt no open wound.
Just then, two fragments flew straight into his body.

He was now closer to the intermediate level, but he didn't have time to think about this, and he concentrated on the kids.
He grabbed the keys from the woman and also their money, and he freed the kids. "I need you to follow me closely. I don't know if there are more of them."
The man he interrogated told him that there was only one more person besides him; now it proved that he shouldn't easily believe the words of his enemies.
The children nodded and stood close to him. Sara, on the other hand, grabbed his shirt and stayed even closer.
He then slowly walked with the children towards the outside. He followed the road he had previously escaped through and came to the same open space.
This time, he was relieved that there were no more men, and he led the children outside. When he passed by the truck, he could see a couple of gasoline containers on the side.
His eyes lit up, but he continued leading them further. When he reached an alley, he stopped and looked at the children. "You stay here. I will call the police."
"But…" Sara's eyes were watery as she looked at him, but eventually, she didn't ask him to stay.
Nathan smiled at her and patted her head one more time as he headed back inside the building.
He quickly grabbed the gasoline and started pouring it out on the ground and on the truck's engine.
Nathan then walked back the way he had made it inside the building while pouring down the gasoline. When he reached the back again, he poured the rest on the trash where the first person he killed was.
At first, he brought some of his own gasoline, but it wasn't enough, so this was why he was happy when he saw the large containers.
He then hopped over the wall once again, and while on it, he lit a lighter and threw it on the ground.
The spark immediately lit up the gasoline, and the fire quickly traveled inside and onto the trash container.
Nathan didn't wait for the spectacle and quickly ran in the direction of the children.
Just when he reached them and saw the kids, he heard an explosion from behind, and the fire had already spread quickly.
He then saw little Sara bravely calming the other children. He could see her body trembling, but she still found the courage.
Nathan smiled and opened his phone and dialed the police number. At first, he thought that the phone couldn't be used normally anymore, but he was wrong.
After calling the police and telling them about the children, Nathan retreated further, just enough so that he had time to escape and enough distance so that he could keep an eye on the kids.
Soon enough, the sirens of the police and the firefighters' trucks could be heard.
He watched as the kids were taken to the ambulance. Just then, a car pulled up, and a man in a suit stepped out.
The police didn't even stop him, and he made his way to Sara. "That must be her father."
Nathan smiled and turned around, walking away. Just then, a notification appeared on his phone.
