9 – Bring Her Back!
Sang Lin was still arguing with people online, and he’d been at it for a full half hour, never once repeating a single insult.
Some netizens got so flustered by his verbal assault that they deleted their comments.
Scary, scary. Having a dad like that… damn.
Sang Lin was still typing when, suddenly, all the trending topics vanished.
“What’s going on?”
“Dad, what happened?” Sang Ran rubbed her eyes, which were still a little red.
“Why were those trending topics taken down? Who did that?”
Sang Ran shook her head. “I don’t know either.”
“It must be justice descending from the heavens. Even the gods can’t bear to see my daughter suffer this kind of injustice. But I haven’t finished cursing them out yet. Those people actually dared to bully my daughter—I’ll tear them a new one.”
Sang Lin smiled, reaching up to ruffle his daughter’s soft, fluffy hair. His gaze held a hint of sorrow as he spoke softly,
“Tangtang, our family owed the Fu family in the past. Dad is sorry. I’ve let you suffer.”
“Dad, I’m not suffering. Don’t worry about me. Once the contract expires in a year, I’ll divorce Fu Chenyan.”
“Mm. From now on, you stay by Dad’s side. You’re not going anywhere.”
“Okay.”
Bored, Sang Ran put down her phone and called Sang Jinyu.
“Second Brother, where are you?”
“I’m on set, filming a fun food variety show. Ranran, do you want to come?”
“I… can I really come?”
Sang Ran was incredibly bored. Since graduating from the International Academy of Music, aside from participating in some international performances, she’d spent all her time at home.
“Mm, come on over. Your big brother is the director, after all. You can do whatever you want here.”
Sang Jinyu’s voice was very gentle, sounding like a soft-spoken young man.
“Director Sang, there’s a bit of an issue over here…”
A flurry of footsteps came through the phone.
“Second Brother, are you busy? Go ahead and handle it. I’ll head over in a bit.”
“Alright, I’ll come pick you up in a little while.”
“Okay.”
The call ended.
Sang Ran rolled off the couch and climbed into her private van. The interior was like a small room—compact, but fully equipped.
Yangxun Tower.
Fu Chenyan left work unusually early today. Every day, he left at exactly five o’clock, but today, before five, he had already walked out of his office.
Everyone cast strange glances at their CEO, but none dared to look directly, only stealing quick peeks.
Li Yi asked uncertainly, “Sir, are we… heading back now?”
Fu Chenyan gave a faint “Mm,” opened the car door, and got in.
Li Yi was completely baffled. The CEO had never left work this early. It wasn’t even quitting time yet, and he usually stayed an extra hour after work. What was going on today?
It wasn’t just Li Yi—all the senior executives upstairs were exchanging bewildered looks.
“What’s wrong with the CEO today? Is he sick?”
“Maybe he’s sick, but he’s still just as fierce. He nearly scared me to death during the meeting.”
“Yeah, the CEO is cold as ice. Every time I go up to report, I feel like I’m in a freezer. My voice shakes when I talk.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Didn’t they say the CEO got married?”
“His marriage is a political alliance. He married that little princess of the Sang family. Who could put up with that woman? I heard she’s spoiled, willful, and cries at the drop of a hat. An absolute little princess.”
Another female colleague, who had just finished getting water and stopped by, chimed in: “Today I even saw people online doing a countdown—a countdown to our CEO’s divorce from that Miss Sang.”
“Really!”
“Yeah, the whole internet is waiting for them to get divorced.”
“I heard their relationship is especially bad.”
“A man like our CEO probably isn’t suited for marriage.”
Everyone nodded in agreement, concluding that their CEO simply wasn’t cut out for marriage.
Jinyuan Estate.
Fu Chenyan got out of the car, striding in on his long legs. His cold gaze swept across the lobby, but he didn’t find the figure he was looking for. Then he went upstairs.
Two minutes later, he came back down and asked, “Where is she?”
His voice was as cold as ice water from a deep pool, the pitch rising at the end, sounding fierce.
The maid kept her head down, stammering, “Fifth Master… the missus… the missus hasn’t come back today.”
Fu Chenyan narrowed his eyes. “Hasn’t come back? She hasn’t come back at all?”
“Yes. The missus hasn’t returned since she left with you.” The maid was trembling as she spoke.
Fu Chenyan picked up his phone, paused for two seconds, then put it back in his pocket. It seemed he didn’t have that fool’s contact information.
“Li Yi, we’re going to the Sang residence.”
Fu Chenyan walked out of the lobby, with Li Yi jogging to keep up behind him, asking again, “Sir, don’t you want to rest for a bit? You just got back.”
“No need.”
Fu Chenyan’s eyes were dark and deep. When Li Yi got close to him, he could clearly feel the chill radiating off him.
Fifth Master seemed… angry.
The black vehicle left Jinyuan Estate once again, at breakneck speed.
Filming site of “Let’s All Have a Taste.”
One of the hottest variety shows lately, boosted by the presence of popular celebrity Luo Jinghui and several other stars, had very high ratings.
Sang Ran had been recording the variety show with the crew for half a day, and she seemed very happy, because on variety shows she could eat lots of delicious food.
The other people on the show also really liked this little princess, and she did seem quite different from the rumors.
【This is… Miss Sang! She… how is she on a variety show?】
【Is she short on money? Isn’t her husband Fifth Master??】
【What husband, they’re about to get divorced. She’s probably earning money to support herself.】
【That’s right, go earn money and support yourself, you useless little princess.】
What they didn’t know was that Sang Ran could easily pocket tens of millions just by showing up to a single piano performance.
In the evening, the day’s recording came to an end.
Sang Ran didn’t actually feel particularly tired, just a bit stuffed, since she’d eaten a lot.
Sang Jinyu wore a simple white shirt, tall in stature with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, looking more like a celebrity than a director.
He asked softly, “Ranran, how was it? Fun or not? Tired?”
“Fun, not tired at all. This show is so entertaining, and the brothers and sisters on it are all really nice.”
Sang Jinyu finally broke into a smile and gently ruffled Sang Ran’s hair. “Glad you like it. Want to come play again tomorrow?”
Sang Ran: “Brother, can I come again tomorrow?”
“Of course you can. Has he… has Fu Chenyan been bullying you?” Sang Jinyu paused for a few seconds before asking.
At the mention of Fu Chenyan, Sang Jinyu’s mood seemed to sour, his eyes darkening.
Sang Ran thought for two seconds. “He…”
“I haven’t bullied her. Ranran, isn’t that right?”
A deep, low voice rang out, carrying its distinctive magnetism, laced with a hint of coldness and detachment.
Sang Ran was very familiar with that voice. Her words came to an abrupt halt, and she turned around…
