Li Mobiang felt a chill down his spine, sensing trouble. The moment Li Moying charged at him, he used little Wanwan as a shield, shoving her into Li Moying’s arms.
“Little sister, grab onto your Third Brother, and Second Brother will run ahead!” With that, Li Mobiang vanished like a flash.
Without support, little Wanwan instinctively clutched Li Moying’s neck.
Li Moying, ten years older and 1.75 meters tall, barely felt her tiny weight at all.
The real issue? Li Moying had obsessive cleanliness!
As soon as he had “close contact” with Wanwan, his mind went blank, his whole body tensed, goosebumps rising all over.
He instinctively tried to pry her off his neck.
But her little hands were holding his hair!
One big, one small; black and pink; a tug-of-war ensued.
From Wanwan’s view, her tiny hands gripped the black dragon whiskers, facing the risk of falling, so she held on tightly.
After several minutes of tugging, Li Moying hadn’t managed to throw her off. Instead, he felt drained, a deep sense of helplessness creeping in.
Sudden fatigue crashed over him like a tsunami, and he gradually gave up struggling.
He sat on a rocking chair holding Wanwan, their eyes locked, and within a minute, he fell asleep.
As Li Moying’s breathing steadied, the “dragon whiskers” in Wanwan’s hands turned back into two strands of black hair, the black aura dissipating, revealing his proud and haughty face.
Sleeping, he looked entirely different from his usual fierce self. A few strands of damp hair lay across his forehead, his chest rising and falling gently. Wanwan leaned on him, feeling the steady, powerful heartbeat beneath.
Thump, thump, thump.
Wanwan wondered how the fierce “big black dragon” Third Brother had suddenly fallen asleep. She propped her chin with one hand, occasionally pinching his earlobe or tapping his prominent nose.
He didn’t move—really asleep.
Huh? Where did Second Brother go?
Thinking of Li Mobiang, Wanwan wriggled back, attempting to slide down his long legs to find him.
Just as her little feet were about to touch the ground, a pair of strong hands scooped her back up.
This time, Li Moying held her steadily, pressing her small head to his chest, one hand supporting her back to prevent her from falling.
Wanwan’s face was a full “confused” expression. She looked up at him, only to be pressed back down again.
Repeated several times, Wanwan grew sleepy, let out a tiny yawn, and eventually curled up on his chest, drifting off.
…
Li Moying opened his eyes and drew a deep breath.
Since his sixth birthday, he had never slept a full night.
Nightmares woke him multiple times, followed by intense headaches. From last year, the headaches turned into full-body pain, as if something was tearing him apart.
Now, glancing at the quartz clock, barely an hour had passed.
Yet he felt as if he had slept a long, uninterrupted night, no nightmares, no pain, his body fully relaxed, almost purified.
A faint smile tugged at his lips as he felt a slight weight on his chest, reaching to touch it.
The next moment, he sat up—only to find the little girl who should have been in his arms replaced with a pillow. His expression darkened.
“Li… Mobiang!”
…
At that moment, Li Mobiang was hurrying to the Old Madam’s courtyard, carrying the sleeping Wanwan.
Earlier, using Wanwan as a shield, he couldn’t be sure how Li Moying would react, so he had kept watch outside, ready to intervene if needed.
To his surprise, Third Brother had actually controlled his temper and even fallen asleep holding the child.
Li Mobiang breathed a sigh of relief, not daring to risk more mischief, and quickly replaced Wanwan with a pillow to return her safely to the Old Madam.
“Grandma, Wanwan’s asleep. I’ve brought her over.” Li Mobiang announced as he entered.
The Old Madam hurried over, only to have the child land a little punch on him beforehand.
“Lower your voice! Don’t scare Wanwan, or I’ll smack you!” she chided.
Li Mobiang shrank, gently handing over Wanwan. The moment he released her, the burden lifted from his shoulders. He thought to himself, taking care of children is not easy—he wouldn’t volunteer for this again.
“Grandma, I just took Wanwan to Third Brother. They got along pretty well,” Li Mobiang tried to take credit in front of the elder.
But the Old Madam had been waiting all morning for her cherished granddaughter. All attention was on the little one; there was no time for anyone else.
Waving her hand impatiently, she said, “Go on, do whatever you want. But stop using my Wanwan as your plaything!”
Li Mobiang’s mouth twitched. The whole morning’s effort had been in vain. He rolled his eyes and retreated.
Just as he stepped out, Li Moying suddenly grabbed his collar from the side, pinned him to the ground, and punched his delicate face.
Li Mobiang grimaced, clutching his cheek with one hand, holding Li Moying’s fist with the other.
“If you hit me again, I’ll call for help!”
“This is your own fault! Next time you provoke me, I’ll send you to the hospital!” Li Moying rubbed his wrist, stepping over him and entering the room.
Inside, the Old Madam was about to lay Wanwan on the couch when the little one opened her big eyes, rubbing them groggily, letting out a sweet little yawn.
Softly, she said: “Grandma, Wanwan’s tummy is hungry.”
“They didn’t feed you? Those two troublemakers! This is infuriating!” The Old Madam’s anger flared, wanting to summon both boys and give them a scolding.
But even in her rage, she couldn’t let the little treasure go hungry. She sent the servants to prepare a child-friendly meal first.
She then carried Wanwan to the main room, only to see Li Moying sitting dazed in a chair below. Usually proud and spirited, now he looked like a wilted eggplant, motionless.
The Old Madam, seeing him like this, couldn’t bring herself to scold him. Curious, she asked, “Why are you just standing there?”
Li Moying lifted his head, looking straight at Wanwan in her arms, opening his mouth as if to speak, but ultimately held back, silently leaving.
“Stubborn boy, picking up all sorts of bad habits,” the Old Madam sighed.
Little Wanwan, in her sweet baby voice, chimed: “Third Brother isn’t a big dinosaur anymore. Third Brother likes Wanwan.”
