The boy stood up, but before he could say anything, Caelen cut him off too. "Go on, tell me your name. You’re a better trash than the rest of them."

The boy finally opened his mouth. "My name is Kolu."

Caelen remained unfazed. "Oh? Am I supposed to know you just from that? Give me your name!"Full novel: The Academy's Villain Instructor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But some of the students in the class had strange looks on their faces because the name ’Kolu’ was quite unique, and not many people had the same type of name.

Kolu smiled faintly. "I am Kolu Medullaris."

The room collectively sucked in a breath.

Caelen was amused to see this because he had already predicted that the young man wasn’t as simple as he appeared to be.

Caelen raised a brow and asked, "Is the name Medullaris that important?"

The words seemed to shake everyone awake, and they turned to look at Caelen with several expressions of shock.

He simply pointed at the scholarly boy.

The boy stood up nervously. "Ahhh. The Medullaris family are one of the Upper Sicon families... just like your family was, Instructor."

Caelen nodded and gestured for him to sit.

’I really don’t know enough to guess the trouble that the previous body landed in. Is this Medullaris family also part of those that want to kill me? I need to find the link that’s binding everything together. I need to know why the previous body was so important and why someone wanted to possess it.’

Caelen turned back to the blackboard and wrote, "Essence Path." Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

But before he said anything about it, he warned his students. "Every participation in class will earn you a bit of merit with me. I’ll be watching you, and I’ll note it down."

Although they didn’t take him seriously, none of them dared to show it. After all, they still couldn’t process the strangeness of what was happening to him.

Kolu raised his hand and stood when Caelen nodded.

"Essence Path is the overall method and system of cultivation itself, the way a person trains, advances, and transforms from a mortal to an Immortal.

"It focuses on how they absorb Essence and refine it. How they progress through the advancements. The philosophy and principles behind their growth. The long-term direction of their power. It contains everything."

"The Essence Paths of each family, Clan, and such are always guarded with absolute ferocity."

Caelen nodded with satisfaction. Then he began writing on the blackboard again while, at the same time, speaking. "Which brings us to the most important question of the day. The singular most important question. What exactly is the Academy for, then? Why did it exist when each family already had their Essence Path?"

A lot of students looked as if they were eager to try to answer the question, but Caelen ignored them all as he focused his eyes on Kolu. "Give me the blunt answer, Kolu."

Kolu hesitated, then nodded. "The Academy was jointly created by all of the Sicons. No matter if they were Upper, Middle, or Lower Scions. They all came together to create this Academy.

"It was given no name because none of them would agree on a single name. So it’s simply called the Academy."

Caelen nodded. "What is the aim of the Academy?"

"It’s the official barracks and force that opposes the Savage Wilderness! The students of this Academy are mandated to carry their weapons when called to war against the Beasts and Demons. That’s the rule! The Academy is the training ground for that," Kolu said, and there was a slightly righteous look in his eyes.

’This world is interesting as well. So there are monsters, beasts, and Demons? It’s different from Earth, but there’s also something that threatens the whole world.’ Read the latest chapters at novelping(.)com.

Caelen waved his hand dismissively. "You’re still not talking about the benefits that can be gained from learning at this Academy."

Kolu nodded. "When the god fell on this continent that’s in the middle of the world, he didn’t only come with his body that was devoured. He came with Essence Paths, techniques, Arts, and different treasures. Those treasures had been scattered here in the Blessed Land of this place. The Academy has also acquired and gained control of numerous techniques that are a match even for Scion Houses.

"So that’s why those who could not join a House, or who want more techniques, will come here to learn."

Caelen had already learned a lot, and his memories were also updated. What Kolu called Blessed Land was also called a Wilderness, where monsters and danger abounded. In fact, different Wildernesses or Blessed Lands had different dangers, but also different treasures.

’Good. I now have enough understanding of why the Academy is important and useful. I now know the value and the resources that it could provide me.’

Kolu added, "The Dean of the Academy is the Scion of House Drakhar. He also belongs to an Upper Sicon."

Caelen narrowed his eyes. "House Drakhar? And he was allowed to rule here? The others allowed him?"

Although Caelen didn’t truly know the political structure of this world, he knew it was a rule anywhere that something as impressive as this Academy wouldn’t be allowed to be ruled by a single Sicon. The others must want a share of the power!

Besides, being the one in command of the forces of Cultivators must be a very powerful and lofty position.

"Well, yes. The principles and reasoning in the world can be divided into roughly three different ways. The first is the Orthodox, the second is the Unorthodox, which... your family belongs to, Instructor. The last are the Neutral. In a way, it could even be argued that everyone belongs to one or the other. But then again, nothing is set, and there are lots of flexibilities and uncertainties."

Caelen fell into a deep thought, and he was just about to speak when a flash of amusement suddenly appeared in his eyes. He turned towards the door as if he had just felt something familiar.

It smelled like Caelen’s blood.
