Caelen turned toward the door, his face expressionless. He could tell that the person coming was powerful, at least Rank A like himself, if he were to go by his previous world’s rankings.

Caelen braced himself.

’Is this an enemy here for me? Since ’Caelen’ is done pretending, are they openly going to kill him? But they shouldn’t do something like that so openly.’Full novel: The Academy's Villain Instructor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

His eyes flashed. ’So, this is another test then?’

The footsteps reached the door and didn’t even bother to knock. With a loud banging sound, the door was shoved open. A powerful aura swept in, instantly filling the room with undisguised hostility.

The hostility directed at Caelen was so thick, filled with disdain and disgust.

Caelen looked back calmly.

The person who came in was an instructor, judging by the way he dressed. He appeared to be middle-aged, with sharp eyes that resembled unsheathed swords.

Apart from Caelen, everyone in the classroom was stunned. They sat rooted in place, their eyes locked on this new instructor as if they were seeing stars in a hot afternoon. There was awe, fear, yearning, and different expressions on their faces.

Caelen raised a single brow when he noticed the way his students behaved. He thought, ’This instructor appears to be a bit... special?’

The instructor spared a single glance at Caelen. Just a single glance, but it was enough to make Caelen’s expression change.

He frowned.

The instructor’s eyes on him felt as if an incredibly sharp sword was pressed against his forehead.

’This instructor... is strong!’

Caelen’s blood heated, and his red eyes now contained warmth. His excitement surged, but it didn’t show on his face. ’Good! Good! I want to know how strong this world is, and now I can begin to see it!’

Caelen didn’t say anything.

The instructor didn’t say anything. Apart from that one glance, he didn’t even look at Caelen again, only turning his attention to the rest of the class as if Caelen Seradon wasn’t even worth his attention or eyes. This story is hosted at novelping.com.

Caelen... didn’t take it well. But he did nothing, simply content to watch as things would unfold.

This was a behavior he had built during the later part of his life, when he wasn’t the strongest and his natural arrogance couldn’t match his strength.

When the instructor turned to the students, they finally moved. They hurried to their feet and bowed their heads, their voices filled with respect as they called out a greeting.

"Welcome to our class, Instructor Hadrian!"

There was so much respect in their voices and posture, as if they wouldn’t mind going on their knees.

Caelen sneered inwardly. ’These ungrateful bastards!’

Instructor Hadrian gestured. "Have your seat, everyone. There’s no need to stand on ceremony. I’m just here to pick up a student, one of my students."

By this time, some students and instructors had gathered by Class Thirteen’s door to watch what was happening. This made Caelen know that Instructor Hadrian must be a big name in the Academy.

So, why was he here in Class Thirteen?

The students looked at each other in surprise. Instructor Hadrian was here to pick up a student? Wait, there was a student of Instructor Hadrian here? Here, in Class Thirteen?

Caelen could feel the excitement of his students, as if they all wanted to rush down and become Instructor Hadrian’s students. But inwardly, Caelen was frowning.

’The student won’t be Marek, right...?’

Instructor Hadrian ignored everyone, and his eyes only fell on one student.

Kolu!

Kolu Medullaris!

Caelen wasn’t surprised. And he wasn’t even surprised when he caught the furious whispers of the students who were telling the others who Instructor Hadrian was.

Instructor Hadrian was a very strong instructor with sizable influence in the Academy. What’s more, he came from a very humble home and was able to reach so high, and with his age, he’d reach even higher in the future.

He was one of the newest pillars that directly supported the Academy, having just reached the Ascendant rank a few years ago.

What made him stand out even more was the Essence Scripture path he was cultivating. It was the path of the flying sword. A sword practitioner!

Most practitioners used swords as weapons, but not everyone could use a flying sword as a road to reach the Great Path. Their powers were strong and terrifying, and some could even punch above their ranks!

Sword Cultivators were regarded as one of the most destructive types of Cultivators.

And that was one of the benefits of the Academy. Only here could one get the type of Essence Scriptures.

So, Instructor Hadrian was sure of his own strength, and he had every right to be.

But Instructor Hadrian’s aura changed from overbearing to a bit more normal as he looked at Kolu. Even he had to give face to a Young Master of the Upper Sicon Family.

He directly said, "Come now, let’s go back to my class. We have a lot to catch up on."

The students paused as they looked at Kolu with a hint of jealousy and envy, but also resignation. Of course, what else? Kolu Medullaris, how could he be in Class Thirteen?

How could Caelen Seradon be worthy of teaching him?

Only the likes of Instructor Hadrian had the right and worth! They felt like it was the most natural thing for Kolu to meet with Instructor Hadrian and join his class!

Through all this, Caelen hadn’t said anything. He watched expressionlessly.

’So... after I defeated those assassins, they sent someone to come and check me out. Not bad, not bad. But isn’t this too overconfident? Isn’t sending Hadrian leaving a trail I can follow later?’

Caelen then turned his attention to Kolu, just like everyone else.

’So what will you pick, Young Master? You are also here on a mission because of me, right?’ Caelen asked inwardly.

So, he was the only one who wasn’t surprised when Kolu said, "I refuse."
