After digging graves all night, Gu Qingyun was already starving.
She had intended to crack open a hole in the egg to see whether it had gone bad, but who would have thought that the giant egg’s shell would be incomparably hard? Even using a stone, she could not smash it open.
She concluded that this was no ordinary egg, yet there was no similar information in the original host’s memories.
The only thing she remembered was a method called Blood-Dropping Recognition, but while digging the grave, she had worn the skin off her hands, leaving them covered in blood. She had stained the entire egg red, yet had not seen the slightest reaction. Clearly, this method would not work.
She did not want to carry such a large, heavy object on the road, and with her stomach growling from hunger, she simply set up the giant egg to roast.
The firelight reflected on her face, making it as red as though it had been daubed with rouge.
The sparks crackled from time to time.
The white egg resting over the fire had been tinted pink by the flames. After roasting for most of the day, she still had no idea whether it was cooked.
Gu Qingyun picked up a tree branch and poked the eggshell a few times.
“After roasting for so long, even if the middle isn’t cooked, the outer layer should be done, right?”
She took the roasted egg down and, unable to wait for it to cool, gripped her dagger and stabbed it.
Gong Shi, who had followed the firelight there, saw this scene and could not help widening his eyes in horror. “Stop!”
Crack!
The dagger pierced into the eggshell.
At the same time, a flash of cold light drew near.
Gu Qingyun flipped up and dodged the other party’s attack.
A black dart pierced diagonally into the grass.
“Gong Shi, this is bad! The Divine Beast Egg is broken!” Twelve cried out, staring blankly at the Divine Beast Egg covered in cracks, his hands at a loss.
It’s over, it’s over!
The Divine Beast Egg actually broke!
Wouldn’t the unborn Little Divine Beast die before it even saw this world? What could they do? That was…
Gong Shi swept a sidelong glance over, and his heart sank heavily. With an enraged expression, he raised his sword and stabbed at Gu Qingyun.
This Egg Thief destroyed the Divine Beast Egg! Even Thousand Blades and Ten Thousand Cuts would not be enough for such a death!
Gong Shi looked as though he had encountered the murderer of his father. His expression was savage, and every sword stroke was a killing move, showing no mercy.
When Gu Qingyun heard the name “Gong Shi,” she inexplicably found it familiar. Before she could figure out where she had heard it, the other party attacked like a madman.
She had not even had time to process the fact that she had roasted a Divine Beast Egg when she was forced to focus entirely on dodging the sword of the man before her.
Clang!
She raised her hand to block, and the dagger stopped the sword blade.
Gong Shi twisted his sword, stepped forward, and used the momentum to slash toward her neck.
Gu Qingyun deflected the blade and retreated several steps in a row. Then she forcefully kicked off the ground and ran toward Gong Shi’s flank.
Gong Shi snorted coldly, leaped in front of her, and thrust his sharp sword straight toward her chest.
The two exchanged blows, but Gu Qingyun was suppressed throughout the entire fight.
Her weapon gave her no advantage, nor did her body. Even in terms of skill, this fierce-looking man was truly formidable, leaving her unable to gain the slightest advantage.
Two furious flames ignited in Gu Qingyun’s eyes. Did he really think that, because the tiger had not shown its might, she was a sick cat?
She rolled across the ground to dodge a strike, swept both hands over the earth, and sprang up. Several leaves were clamped between her fingers. With a deft flick of her wrists, she sent the leaves shooting toward Gong Shi.
Gong Shi’s figure paused, and he swung his sword, chopping the leaves to pieces.
Gu Qingyun curled her lips into a cold smile and leaped into the air. The tree shadows swayed, and her hands once again held many more leaves.
Using flying flowers and plucked leaves came to her as naturally as breathing.
Twelve and the others were dumbstruck.
Only when they saw Gong Shi wounded by the leaves did they snap back to their senses, attacking Gu Qingyun together.
Facing the combined assault of several people, Gu Qingyun fell into difficulty once again. When she let her guard down for only an instant, she was sent flying by a collision, spitting out a mouthful of blood that splattered across the surface of the giant eggshell lying alone on the ground.
In an instant, white radiance shot out from the cracks in the giant egg.
The dazzling light illuminated the surrounding world.
Gong Shi and the others could not help raising their hands to shield their eyes.
Gu Qingyun took the opportunity to leave.
“Don’t let her escape!” Although Gong Shi could not see, his hearing was still keen, and he immediately noticed Gu Qingyun’s movement.
Relying on the positions of everyone in her mind, Gu Qingyun charged toward an opening.
“Chase!” As the light gradually faded, Gong Shi saw Gu Qingyun’s back.
No one noticed the black, fluffy head poking out from the shattered eggshell on the ground.
A pair of large eyes like black gemstones gazed curiously at the two sides pursuing one another ahead. Suddenly, as though it had understood something, anger flashed in its limpid, innocent eyes.
“Don’t bully mother!”
A childish voice rang out in the night. A naked little toddler with a large head and short body jumped out of the eggshell.
