He appeared inside a bedroom.
The sudden shift between dimensions sent a violent wave of pressure crashing into him, knocking the air from his lungs.
“Woah—!”
He stumbled forward before ungracefully falling onto the wooden floor with a loud thud.
“…Ow.”
He rubbed the back of his head before slowly pushing himself back onto his feet.
“So much for a cool entrance.”
Dusting off his clothes, he took a slow look around the room with obvious curiosity.
It wasn’t particularly large, but it was clean and neatly organized.
A spacious bed rested against one wall while a study desk sat beneath the window, complete with a neatly stacked pile of textbooks and stationery.
A wardrobe occupied the opposite side of the room, and several unpacked moving boxes were still sitting in the corner, suggesting whoever lived here had only recently moved in.
Family photos rested on a nearby shelf.
The room felt lived in.
Yet completely unfamiliar.
“Definitely not my old room…”
Before he could inspect anything else…
A sudden pounding headache struck him.
“Gh…!”
He instinctively grabbed his head as countless memories flooded his mind all at once.
A childhood.
Birthdays.
School memories.
His parents.
The move to Kuoh Town.
Years of experiences poured into his mind like an overflowing river, seamlessly merging with his own memories.
For several long minutes…He simply stood there silently while everything settled into place.
Eventually…the pain disappeared.
He let out a long sigh.
“Hmm…So I’m in High School DxD.”
A grin slowly spread across his face.
“Cool.”
Walking over to the mirror, he absentmindedly glanced at his reflection before folding his arms.
“It seems that I’ve just moved to Kuoh a few months ago, with my parents, and I’ll be entering Kuoh Academy in a few days.”
His newly acquired memories supplied the rest almost instantly.
“The school only recently became co-ed…”
He paused.”…I might be one of the only dudes attending.” He couldn’t help but shake his head.
“Talk about lucky.”
From what he remembered of the series, the female-to-male ratio at Kuoh Academy was ridiculously one-sided.
Not that he was complaining.
Now that he knew what world he was in…He felt relieved.
Out of all the worlds he could’ve ended up in, this one wasn’t immediately trying to kill him every five minutes.
Sure, there were Devils, Fallen Angels, Dragons, and the occasional world-ending catastrophe…
But compared to places like Warhammer 40K?
This was practically a vacation.
He casually walked over to the window before sliding it open.
A refreshing morning breeze immediately entered the room, carrying with it the scent of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers.
The warm sunlight spilled across the wooden floor as birds chirped happily from nearby trees.
Outside, Kuoh Town was just beginning to wake up.
Students walked toward convenience stores.
Cyclists rode down quiet streets.
Shop owners raised their shutters for the day.
Everything looked..peaceful here.
‘I’m going to enjoy my life here.’ He rested his arms on the windowsill.
‘I deserve a reward after dying like that.’
A small laugh escaped him.’I mean…
what were the chances?
Getting hit by a flying car while walking inside your own house?’
He was probably the only person in history who could make that claim.
His smile slowly faded as he focused inward.
Along with his wish…
He hadn’t merely received Yhwach’s abilities, he also inherited his memories as well.
Centuries of combat experience.
Mastery over spiritual power.
Knowledge that no ordinary human should possess.
It was all neatly stored inside his mind as though it had always belonged there.
Without another thought…He stretched out his hand.
A surge of azure spiritual energy gathered around his palm.
Particles of light condensed together before forming a brilliant saber in his grasp.
The blue blade hummed softly with immense power, illuminating the room with a beautiful cerulean glow that danced across the walls.
The air itself seemed to grow heavier.
He gave it a few experimental swings.
Whoosh.
Despite it being his first time holding it…It felt completely natural, like an extension of his own body.
He smiled faintly before dismissing it.
The saber dissolved into countless blue particles that scattered through the room before fading away completely.
“For now…” he stretched lazily.
“Let’s relax.”
He flopped backward onto his bed, staring up at the ceiling.
“I am in no rush to go back to school.”
Besides…He still had a few days before classes started.
Plenty of time to settle into his new life.
In this world, his full name was Yhwach Ren Amamiya.
Although…almost everyone simply called him Ren.
Not only was it much easier to pronounce…
It also drew far less attention than introducing himself as someone literally named Yhwach.
That was a conversation he’d rather avoid…
for now.
…..
On Monday morning, Ren woke up earlier than usual.
Golden rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, bathing his room in a warm glow as his alarm rang softly on the bedside table.
He reached over lazily, silencing it before sitting up with a yawn.
“…First day already.”
For a brief moment, he simply stared at the ceiling.
It still felt strange.
Just a week ago, he’d been an ordinary guy on Earth.
Now…
He was living in the world of High School DxD, carrying the powers and memories of Yhwach.
Life really came at you fast.
Shaking the lingering sleep from his head, Ren climbed out of bed and got dressed in his brand-new Kuoh Academy uniform.
The black blazer fit him perfectly, while the white shirt beneath it remained spotless.
After adjusting his tie in front of the mirror, he gave himself a quick nod.
“Not bad.”
Just as he was about to leave his room…
Click.
The bedroom door slowly opened.
Standing there was his mother, Junko Amamiya.
She shared many of his features.
Silky black hair rested neatly on her shoulders, while her gentle brown eyes always carried a warmth that instantly put others at ease.
Despite being old enough to have a sixteen-year-old son, she looked remarkably youthful, possessing an elegance that turned heads wherever she went.
According to the memories he’d inherited…
He had always been a mama’s boy.
The moment Junko saw him standing there fully dressed in his school uniform, her eyes softened.
A warm smile spread across her face.
Without hesitation, she walked over and wrapped him in a hug.
“My little boy…”
She gently rubbed the back of his head.
“…is all grown up now.”
Ren chuckled, returning the hug.
“I’m sixteen.”
He smiled.
“I’m still your boy.”
“True…” Junko said with a small laugh.
“But before you know it, you’ll be bringing some girl home.”
She took a step back and looked him up and down proudly.
“I mean, with those looks…”
“I’m sure you’ll cause an uproar at your new school.”
Ren couldn’t help but laugh.
“And I have to thank my beautiful mother for these devilishly handsome looks.”
Junko placed a hand on her chest dramatically.
“Exactly.”
She nodded proudly.
“Your father didn’t even try to win with the gene pool.”
The two of them burst into laughter.
Poor Mr.
Amamiya wasn’t even present to defend himself.
Once the laughter died down, Junko gently patted his shoulder.
“Finish up and let’s eat breakfast.”
She glanced toward the stairs.
“Your father already left for work.”
“Cool.”
Ren nodded.
“I’ll be down in a minute.”
Junko smiled one last time before walking out of the room.
Click.
The door closed behind her.
Silence returned.
Ren let out a quiet sigh.
‘…She’s a kind woman.’
His gaze drifted toward the closed door.
‘Luckily I inherited these memories…
otherwise I’d probably be panicking right now.’
As far as he was concerned…
Junko wasn’t his biological mother.
Yet thanks to the lifetime of memories he’d received, the love and affection he felt toward her came as naturally as breathing.
It was an odd feeling.
But not an unpleasant one.
After taking one final look around his room, Ren headed downstairs.
The aroma of freshly cooked breakfast greeted him immediately.
Junko had prepared eggs, toast, bacon, and a bowl of fresh fruit, with a steaming cup of coffee waiting beside his plate.
“Eat before it gets cold,” she said as she placed another slice of toast onto his plate.
“Got it.”
The two chatted casually while eating breakfast, mostly about his first day at Kuoh Academy and whether he’d make any friends.
Junko, naturally, slipped in a few jokes about him coming home with a girlfriend before the week was over, earning an embarrassed sigh from Ren.
After finishing breakfast, he carried his plate to the sink before grabbing his school bag.
“I’m heading out.”
“Have a wonderful first day!” Junko called from the kitchen with a bright smile.
“I will.”
Opening the front door, Ren stepped outside.
A refreshing morning breeze greeted him as the quiet streets of Kuoh Town bustled with students making their way toward school.
Adjusting the strap of his bag over one shoulder, Ren slipped both hands into his pockets.
Then…He headed straight for Kuoh Academy.
Peace
