It’s been 2 days now.

The drug should have started showing its effect, I’ve had my spies reporting back to me.

They have noted that my brother has been looking rather lethargic and ‘slow’.Full novel: The Alpha’s Scarlet Slave — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

They also said that this had mostly started when he was having meals with Scarlet.

So she was keeping ahead of the bargain.

Of course I had to go and confirm this myself.

I paced back and forth in my study looking for a probable reason to visit him, my brother was an insufferable kind of bastard who would take visit from family as a plot against him.

He was right about it but it was still rude.

Just as I was going past my desk I recognized a folder that had recently joined several other piles fished it out and smiled to myself.

This should work perfectly.

I got to wash up and donned my attire for the day.

In just a couple of minutes I had driven over to the pack house, from the gates if leaned in.

and listened hard enough I could hear the sound of me and my brother playing.

Back then when we were still protected by the innocence that was childhood, the four we knew that one day we would be at each other’s throats.

Now we could never go back to those days.

What a shame…

Maybe in another life.

But definitely not this one.

Because I was going to become an only child in this one.

I entered the pack house or I would have if I was not immediately accosted by the guards at the gate.

“Prince Cassius we were not expecting you,” one of the gods said which was a thinly hinted way of saying they didn’t want to see me at all. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.

“Yes I have something important to give to my brother,”I said tapping against the folder in my hands, “it concerned not only the safety of the Grand alpha but the pack at large…”

The two of them exchange ridiculously stupid looks before returning the attention back to me the one with a voice that sound as pleasant as granite scraping against my ears said; “let us inspect it first…”

I pulled it away from their touch.

“I’m sorry but this is sensitive information that can only be given to the alpha himself, you’ll have to let me true to deliver it personally…

That is unless…” I shot the two of them respectively warning glares, “…

You wish to stand between me and the safety of not only my brother but this pack as well?”

I heard one of them audiably gulp.

“No of course not Prince casius please forgive us for our rudeness.” One of them said.

“Just mind yourselves when I come around,” I told them intentionally brushing past the one I felt was more rude to me.

This was my home and yet I needed an explanation to be here, fair enough they had been some accusations that I had attempted to take my brother’s life several times but that should be no reason why the door should not be wide and open to welcome me anytime I choose to be here.

With a few inquiries I found out that my brother was in his office so I went up there to see him.

As always he was immediately sour when he saw me.

“Brother I know my presence doesn’t please you but at least sometimes you could pretend to be happy to see me.”

“I don’t think I’ll ever be that good of an actor…”he said shutting his laptop rather quickly, I could imagine that he was looking at something sensitive but the way he did it so fast and sudden was a little surprising.

“I have something to give to you…. A gift you could say…”I told him while dropping the large brown envelope on his desk he looked between me and the envelope like it was a disguised bomb waiting to explode at any given moment.

I mean he had a good reason to suspect me like that but it’s still hurt anyways.

“Brother it only polites to open a gift when it’s given to you…”

I was very busy before you came in here so I hope this is not a waste of my time.

The guards mind linked me and told me that it was concerning the safety of the pack, correct?”

“Indeed, I would never lie to you…”

He scoffed at that, before he took the envelope I placed my fingers on top it stopping the motion of it reaching him.

“What?” He spat at me.

“I was just curious…”I said sincerely, “… What were you looking at so intensely when I walked in?”

It had been a very long time since my brother had a kind love towards name and I knew that was not going to happen for the rest of our lives but there was something by the way he looked at me now a mix of flaming rate bundled around palable fear.

Fear…and my brother?

Those were not things that usually went together in a sentence.

“It’s…” He paused as if thinking about it, “…none of your business,”

Okay, now this is something I’ll have to send my rats on and…wait a minute.

Maybe I won’t have to involve my rats.

I believe that him straight in the eyes and said; “does it have anything to do with Scarlet the slave?”

I didn’t know that so much blood could rush into someone’s face in an instance I also didn’t know that his speed had increased so exponentially that he could grab me and how of my entire body flung against the nearest world before I could breath out another word.

He held me up by my collar, which wasn’t great for my breathing I’ll have to admit.

But I found myself smiling.

Could it be…?

“Could it be brother?” I began carefully rationing my breath, “… That you care for that slave?”
