“Li Fujian is here!”
Xu Rixin looked at Xu Pingfeng, his expression slightly tense. He hadn’t expected that of all times, Li Fujian would show up right now.
“No rush,” Xu Pingfeng said coldly. “Xu Tian won’t be able to run. Let’s meet Li Fujian first. Once Rixin builds a relationship with him, getting rid of Xu Tian will be even safer.”
Xu Rixin nodded. “Alright.”
The two immediately put down the gasoline cans. Xu Pingfeng locked Xu Tian’s room and ordered two bodyguards to keep watch. Only then did they go downstairs to greet the guest.
When the front door opened, four men stood outside.
Li Fujian was in the center, flanked by two bodyguards in suits. Zhou Shaoming stood beside them.
“Shaoming, this must be CEO Li, right?” Before Zhou Shaoming could respond, Xu Rixin quickly stepped forward with a polite smile and extended his hand. “CEO Li, it’s an honor to meet you!”
Li Fujian glanced at the Xu family. Not seeing Xu Tian, a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He simply nodded and didn’t shake hands.
Xu Rixin looked at Zhou Shaoming awkwardly. Zhou quickly said, “CEO Li, this is Xu Rixin, General Manager of Xu Group.”
Li Fujian gave a faint nod. “Let’s talk inside.”
“Oh, of course! Please, come in,” Xu Rixin replied quickly, making a welcoming gesture.
Behind him, Xu Pingfeng and Yang Rongjuan exchanged glances. They both sensed something was off—Li Fujian’s attitude didn’t seem right.
“CEO Li, I heard there was an issue on the road. Nothing serious, I hope?” As soon as they entered, Xu Rixin began with concern.
“If your car had any problems, you should’ve let us know. We would have sent someone to pick you up,” Xu Pingfeng added quickly.
“CEO Li, you wouldn’t believe how worried my son was when he heard your car broke down,” Yang Rongjuan chimed in, trying to flatter.
But Li Fujian frowned slightly. On the way here, Zhou Shaoming had praised Xu Rixin nonstop. Li had thought Xu Tian’s elder brother and family might not be too bad.
Now it seemed… he had been overly optimistic.
Still, as a prominent businessman, Li Fujian didn’t let his emotions show. After responding indifferently to their attempts at small talk, he asked, “Manager Xu, is your younger brother Xu Tian home?”
Xu Tian?
The expressions on Xu Rixin and his parents froze. For a moment, none of them reacted.
Almost reflexively, Xu Rixin asked, “CEO Li, why would you want to meet that loser?” This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
“Loser?”
Li Fujian’s face immediately darkened. “Who are you calling a loser?”
Xu Pingfeng paused, then quickly responded as if suddenly realizing something. “CEO Li, you must’ve mistaken my useless younger son for my capable eldest son. Xu Tian is just a good-for-nothing who’s done nothing with his life in twenty years. For any business with Xu Group, you can just speak to my eldest.”
“Exactly, CEO Li,” Yang Rongjuan hurriedly added. “Xu Tian is an incompetent idiot—not someone worthy of meeting you.”
Xu Rixin straightened his posture, his voice brimming with pride. “CEO Li, Xu Tian knows nothing about business. If you want to discuss cooperation with Xu Group, I’m your man.”
Hearing them speak this way about Xu Tian, Li Fujian’s face turned even colder. And then, surprisingly, he laughed.
“You want me to work with you? Do you honestly believe I’d travel all the way here just for a minor collaboration with your small company?”
BOOM!
His words were like a bomb exploding in the living room, leaving the three members of the Xu family dumbfounded.
What… What did that mean?
Wasn’t Li Fujian here for Xu Rixin?
Xu Pingfeng, ever the so-called head of the family, was the first to recover. Cautiously, he asked, “CEO Li, then… what brings you here today?”
“I’m here specifically to visit Mr. Xu Tian.”
The smiles on all three of their faces instantly froze.
The three of them stood there, stunned, unable to believe their ears.
He… was here to visit Xu Tian?
And he even called Xu Tian “Mr.”?
Wasn’t Li Fujian supposed to be here because he admired Xu Rixin? Didn’t he come to talk about working with Xu Group? Why… Why was he here for that good-for-nothing Xu Tian?
And how on earth did Xu Tian even know someone like Li Fujian?
“Is Mr. Xu Tian home? May I see him?”
Before the trio could snap out of it, Li Fujian spoke again.
Xu Rixin and his parents opened their mouths, but their faces had grown pale.
They had believed Li Fujian was here for Xu Rixin, that he admired his ability, that he would soon become a rising star. And Xu Tian? That so-called loser? He could never catch up.
But now, Li Fujian kept asking about Xu Tian. Each question was like a slap in the face, making them want to dig a hole and hide.
“No?” Li Fujian asked again when they didn’t answer.
Their faces twisted bitterly.
Just an hour ago, they might have dragged Xu Tian out and shown him off a little to get some benefit from the situation. But now… they had just been forcing Xu Tian to sign the divorce papers.
If they let him come out now, forget benefits—Li Fujian might just turn against them.
Seeing the strange expressions on their faces, Li Fujian frowned. “You don’t want me to see him?”
Xu Pingfeng hesitated, then finally said, “CEO Li, the truth is, Xu Tian hasn’t been home these past couple of days. Maybe when he returns, I’ll have him visit you personally?”
“He’s not home?”
Li Fujian’s expression dimmed, and he sighed with disappointment. “If Mr. Xu Tian returns, please let me know. Here’s my business card.”
With that, he handed over his card and left with Zhou Shaoming and his men.
“Whew…”
After seeing him off, the three Xu family members collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted.
Xu Rixin’s face looked terrible, and cold sweat had formed on his forehead. “Dad, how… how does that loser Xu Tian know someone like Li Fujian? What do we do now? What if he takes revenge on us through Li Fujian?”
Xu Rixin was genuinely panicking now.
He still couldn’t accept the fact that Xu Tian had connections to someone like Li Fujian—but the evidence was right in front of him.
There was no doubt that with Li Fujian’s power in Jiang Province, destroying the entire Xu family would be effortless.
“Dad… Mom… What do we do now?”
“Li Fujian just came to our house looking for him. If Xu Tian disappears, and Li Fujian comes back asking for him—what are we going to tell him?”
Xu Rixin’s voice trembled. He had no idea just how deep the relationship between Xu Tian and Li Fujian went.
