The car stopped in front of a villa.
Chu Luochen said to him, “Get out of the car, my little baby.”
Ling Yan glanced out the car window and said coldly, “This isn’t my home!”
As if he hadn’t heard what was said, Chu Luochen got out of the car on his own.
Seeing him get out, Ling Yan looked at the driver sitting in front, “Brother Lin, drive me back.”
Hearing this, Lin turned his head, smiled at him, and said, “Young Master Ling, you’d better not make things difficult for me. Mr. Chu is waiting for you outside.”
Ling Yan sat frozen in the car for a few minutes before finally obediently getting out.
Chu Luochen was standing at the entrance with a cigarette pinched between his fingers. Seeing him get out of the car, he extinguished the cigarette.
He had heard from others that this young master in front of him disliked the smell of smoke.
As Ling Yan walked closer, Chu Luochen reached out to rub the back of his head and said with a smile, “Wouldn’t it have been better if you were this obedient earlier.”
Ling Yan slapped his hand away, took a step back, and glared with a fierce look in his eyes, “Stop getting physical, how annoying!”
Chu Luochen wasn’t angry at being disliked.
He pushed open the courtyard gate and flicked his chin toward him, “Let’s go, take a look at our marital home.”
“I’m not going in, this isn’t my home.” Ling Yan took a small step backward, repeating the same words, “I won’t marry you.”
Chu Luochen stood at the entrance with his arms crossed, watching him and asking, “Not going in? Then do you plan to walk back?”
Ling Yan looked at the endless dark night and the long route ahead, turned to glare at him, and scolded, “Chu Luochen, you really are not a human being!”
With that, Ling Yan turned around and headed toward the roadside.
Watching his stubborn back, Chu Luochen chased after him somewhat helplessly and pulled him back.
“It’s hard to catch a taxi in this place. From here to your place in the city, you’d probably walk until dawn.”
Ling Yan twisted the arm being held and said angrily, “Let me go! Old master here doesn’t need you to care!”
“Really don’t need me to care?” Chu Luochen said, “You’re my wife, if I don’t care about you, who will?”
Ling Yan’s face flushed red with anger at that word “wife.” He looked at Chu Luochen’s build, then looked at his own, wondering what would happen if he punched him right now.
Yet before he could throw that punch, his arm was grabbed by Chu Luochen and he was pulled directly into an embrace, hoisted horizontally into a bridal carry straight toward the villa.
No matter how Ling Yan struggled, he simply wouldn’t let go.
Eventually, Ling Yan grew tired of struggling and simply stopped moving.
Chu Luochen unlocked the door with his fingerprint, set him down on the entryway cabinet, bent down to retrieve a pair of clean slippers, and made a move to help him put them on.
Ling Yan kicked at him, but he dodged it, making Ling Yan tremble with anger as he sat on the storage cabinet.
“What the hell do you want!”
“You agreed to marry me, and our contract is signed too. You tell me what I want?”
Chu Luochen untied his shoelaces, took off the shoes on his feet, slipped on the new slippers, and then said softly, “Baby, where are you going to find someone as good to you as me? Don’t be ungrateful.”
Ling Yan pouted, holding in a breath of frustration with nowhere to vent, before finally tossing out a clichéd excuse.
“There’s someone I like in my heart, and it’s not you.”
Chu Luochen calmly let out an “Oh,” with not a ripple of fluctuation on his face, and even kindly asked him, “How long have you liked him? Does he like you?”
Ling Yan hadn’t expected him to ask in such detail, so he opened his mouth and continued to spin fabrications.
“For many years, I’ve liked him ever since I can remember. He likes me too, and we are mutually in love.”
“Since he likes you so much, why hasn’t he come to marry you?”
“I…”
Ling Yan stalled for two seconds, the corners of his lips curving into a mischievous smile, “When I was born, my mother had someone tell my fortune. They said I have the fate of a solitary star of damnation, and whoever stays with me will be cursed to death. I can’t bear for him to die, so if you don’t want to die prematurely, you’d better stay far away from me.”
After saying this, Ling Yan couldn’t help but give himself a mental thumbs-up. Figuring that wealthy families cared most about these taboos, surely this man wouldn’t dare talk about marrying him anymore, right?
Watching his fierce little expression, Chu Luochen looked as though he saw right through his little calculation.
“That’s just right. My fate is tough and I’m not afraid of death. The two of us are a match made in heaven.”
